What do you like best about Designer Cloud?

Ease of use and ability to manipulate information. Use is fairly intuitive and and training video's give you ability to begin using pretty quickly. Have used to combine data sets remove duplicate information and extract needed data. The join capabilities of the product are effective and easy to use but you do need to be careful about how/what you are joining. It is easy to see the preliminary results and adjust as needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Designer Cloud?

Have had some problems with time outs in free version. Possibly could be related however to types of joins being performed. Unfortunately product goes off and runs for an extended period of time before informing you that the job has failed. Would be good if you received notification earlier in process that the job will fail. however you can tell pretty quickly when it is likely to fail after a few uses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Designer Cloud:

Be sure to go through training modules. It seems easy to use so the tendency to jump in but you can miss some of the finer points that cause problems. Also, start with some simple small datasets until you have the hang of it as it is a little different with the flow and recipes than other products that may have been used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Designer Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Have used the product to manipulate and massage data from different datasets. Have used software to take raw data sets from lead generation tools and sources and join together / manipulate to create extract datasets that can be loaded into email campaign software.

Trifacta has allowed us to manipulate and process information in a fairly quickly manner that would take considerably longer through a tool like excel. It has streamlined our ability to take lead data and translate it into email marketing information with a minimal amount of effort.

Plan to extend the use of the product to take the resulting email campaign information and boil it down to usable information that can be acted on through more personal contact. Currently this is a relatively manual process of filtering though a considerable amount of information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Designer Cloud?

I enjoy the accessibility, ease of use, modern graphic user interface, toolkit and how quickly it loads. It's really nice that the toolkit is done in plain english -- without too many formulas. I do wish it suggested some fixes here and there to the data -- I'd love to be able to preview if fuzzy matching worked before I added it as a step. I LOVE the dataset storage and clear dates -- sometimes I think it's easier to find uploads in Trifacta than it is to find them on my own computer. Joining is my favorite step process, I like the carnality being so easy to determine with estimates of matches being provided. Really love the graph previews in the table form. Likewise, I love that this is a cloud product I can log into from anywhere. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Designer Cloud?

Sometimes I feel the sales individuals are a bit spammy -- but it's not too terrible. I also dislike that sometimes jobs take quite sometime to complete for download / export, and then sometimes they fail entirely. Also, as a weird note, I find I am very lazy with naming conventions in the tool, and it makes me feel a bit disorganized when I open it up compared to other software tools as everything is just "flow 1", "flow 2" etc. I also dislike that I'm not even sure of it's full capabilities, I bet if I learned it better I'd use it a lot more. I don't really like that the job thing is a whole separate screen to monitor, I wish when the recipe was done, we could just export immediately. I'd definitely suggest that it'd be great if it recognized personal private information (like emails,) and offered to fuzz it or hex it immediately upon upload. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Designer Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm solving data cleansing issues -- I have realized benefits because it saves me time, makes my work much less intensive, and flows nicely. At my company, we struggle a fair bit with data continuity, it's nice to always have a log of what I have done in the prep process step-by-step in order to re-invent it.It would be neat if it had a connector directly into Business Intelligence Tools, like PowerBI or Tableau. It might also be neat to be able to open the data in browser the way that SmartSheets does. I realize it is available as part of Google Cloud Prep, but I do not have access to that as an individual in my company. I truly need something external. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Designer Cloud?

Accordingly to specific our company, we worked with a lot of ETL's tools, include Trifacta.

The best features that we like here:

1) you can try to create transformation through small sample of data in 15 minutes

2) Trifacta will suggest best joins/unions/split, etc

3) After you get result you can easily replace data source and it will work Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Designer Cloud?

It's not clear about how some functions operating, documentation is massive and very unclear.

High price, that's why we choose a different vendor in the end Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Designer Cloud:

For sure for everyone who is looking classic etl tool - it's very good to use, the question every time should be about cost only, the product is very good and intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Designer Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Prepare transformations flow, from 0 till result, that can be shown to customer/non-technical user. It was helpful to test some different ways to work with customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Designer Cloud?

The advanced text manipulation tools and the almost turing completeness Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Designer Cloud?

while a great tool, the user story to go from data exploration to production could use additional development Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Designer Cloud:

For data exploration or munging, for data prep where you have a variety of inbound or unknown formats trifacta is worlds easier than programming or excel manipulation. Also for designing data workflows its just dead simple to find your ideal flow via trifacta and let that inform your code path.

If you are authoring a fresh data visualization and are tired of wrestling with the clunky interface they provide this tool is useful to build your insights directly into the data and then just use the viz tool to surface the results to the end user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Designer Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Data exploration and standardization, especially for similar outbound formats with varying inbound formats. Also as a stellar prep tool to feed to our data visualization platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Designer Cloud?

I appreciate that, although Trifacta requires some time to get to know it is user friendly to people who do not code as a profession. It has helped me to become comfortable with simple coding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Designer Cloud?

I dislike the resample option. You are unable to see your entire dataset in trifacta and when looking at the summary of your columns often options are left unseen because they do not appear in your sample. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Designer Cloud?

Dataprep has a great user interface that makes it easy to inspect the data and to transform it. Pipelines are easy to set up and to understand thanks to the Flows UI. Easy to use for everyone, no programming skills needed. I also like the fact that pipelines are reusable and can be invoked via an API. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Designer Cloud?

Working with dates and international date formats in Dataprep is still a nightmare, e.g. if you want to convert date formats or check whether a date format is correct. I wish they used ISO date formats as a standard. Also, working with and switching between multiple accounts (on Google Cloud) is not well supported. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Designer Cloud solving and how is that benefiting you?

Build and run reusable and scalable ETL pipelines within a very short time to ingest data into BigQuery. Make data prepping accessible to non-programmers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
