Top Rated Deltek Ajera Alternatives
Can do pretty much anything
Customizable widgets/dashboards/reports
The support people are incredibly nice and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
-In order to do pretty much anything you have to already be an expert in the software. And/or pay extra.
-Each widget requires a specific base, but which base you need to use is usually figured out by trial and error (sometimes the base will allow you to pull in the information you need, sometimes it doesn't - so you have to keep trying until you find the features you need. I asked if they had a list or tutorials where I could learn more. They offered to sell me training time or I could pay extra for them to create them)
-The report customization options are limited in their default reports (add or remove certain features, but that's the extent). To create your own reports... It's like travelling back in time. It kind of looks like you're editing excel from a decades ago, but there's no way to see what the fomulas are/do or where they're pulling the data from.
-Support is an added expense (we received one free year; had we not had that year I doubt we'd have kept Ajera as I do not believe the software is user-friendly enough to learn on your own). And I dread how we're going to continue to use Ajera once we can only contact them a few times a year.
-Search bar functions differently in different parts of ajera (eg - in some places you can search any word in a project title; some places require you search the first word; in some places you can only sort by the ID code - but you don't know which is which until you try)
-Everything is an add-on feature - this is not an one-stop-solution to your needs.
-Their Deltek University and Deltek Learning Zones are challenging to navigate and typically not useful. (Even on support calls I've had technicians tell me, "ah, your question is about x, so you need to search for y and then scroll down to the 8th result and click into that one"). Most of my staff gave up on using this. To be fair, most of the staff are Gen Z to old Millenial and they're not used to having to work so hard to make software work.
-My bookkeeper described Ajera's accounting features as, ""This looks like it would have been a really innovative, great beta release for accounting software - 10 years ago."
-When you export reports to excel, they're exported as Excel '97 files (just as an example of how the software is aging).
-I believe they're working on this, but as of now you can only use Microsoft Edge and you also need to download/enable ClickOnce to function.
-Assuming you can figure it out, there are many different steps required to figure out what your financial statements are saying. (In other programs you could just click on the number and see everything about it. Doesn't work that way here)
-Many simple tasks in competitor programs have been made complicated by Ajera. These are the steps you have to take to recieve money on an invoice:
Open client receipts>
Enter Client (or choose project/enter project)>
change date>select payment method>
enter in notes>
click the invoice/double check or adjust the amount>
save.
Then go to a different tab - deposits>
click on new deposits>
find your deposit and reenter in your notes>
update the date>
realize the default bank account is the wrong one and update it - then reenter the notes (it deletes your notes if you change the bank) and re-update the date (it deletes it if you change the bank)>
press save.
Why isn't the bank name just a field on the Client receipts? It'd be one or two extra (optional if necessary for coding) fields and then you could skip having to switch tabs and renter a bunch of other information.
This is pretty indicitive of a lot of Ajera - seemingly pointless additional steps that other software programs just automate for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I think Deltek Ajera is organized in a logical and straightforward way and enjoy that all of the modules are fairly well-integrated. It's reliable and has never been down for an extended period of time. Support has been greatly improving over the last year and I am becoming confident I will receive the assistance I need. There are many, many workarounds, glitches, "unknowns", gremlins, or whatever you want to call them in this system. Without having used the system for over a year, many of these "errors" would be difficult to understand or solve. Often times Ajera representatives don't understand why something works the way it does, but they agree it shouldn't. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Deltek Ajera has been a game-changer for our accounting processes. The software's intuitive interface makes it easy to track budgets, manage timesheets, and oversee project performance in real time. Its robust reporting tools provide clear insights, helping us make informed decisions quickly. The support team has always been responsive and helpful with any questions that arise, ensuring continued success. Overall, Ajera has streamlined our operations, improved efficiency, and delivered great value for our business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do wish there was an easier interface or seperate tab to schedule resources that isnt tied directly to the manage tab where exectured contracts are also managed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We migrated to Ajera almost 10 years ago. Our transition was smooth and easy, we are able to keep track of projects and contracts easily. System has some robust ways to customize dashboards and widgets, even the less skilled technical person should be able to use it. Deltek issues updates frequently and enhancements are usually a great addition. Overall, great system for typical accounting tasks. Even with 10 years into the system, our company is still very happy with how it performs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Inability to access project information on mobile. Everything else is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The customer service has been great and I've never experienced Ajera being down or unable to access the website, very reliable! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The user view for hourly timesheet employees, its awful. I cannot see all of the information Ive entered for the week in 1 screen. I have to manually click into each box, then click another button just to see if I entered my lunch clock out time. It would be nice to be able to see it all in one screen and get an error when I click submit, if I am missing any necessary information before it goes to my boss. I use Ajera on a daily bases and I love how it is very user friendly and keeps most projects organized. Mistakes can be corrected fairly easy and quickly. Customer support has been very helpful and pretty quick on the issues I have experienced. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It isn't very compatible with Google/Chrome. As of now a drive has to be downloaded in order to use it on Chrome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Widgets! Custom and Quick Reports. Tech support. Resource Center and Support Center. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Slow rendering of dashboards and widgets (especially if you use a formula to bring in additional information). Tab orders of some popups (i.e., Vendor Payments - Pay window). That the Client Invoice Register pulls the Activity Type for expense and consultant amounts from the Command Center budget breakdown rather than the Activity Type in Vendor Invoices (involves two steps). I LOVE the new AP invoices approval options! This is so helpful vs manually tracking the process outside of Ajera. So easy to set up and implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Would like to see a two way fundtion between Scheduler and Project Comand Center resourcing to update budgeted billable hours when staff is added to project from Scheduler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ajera reminds me of an Excel spreadsheet, which, as an accountant, I really appreciate. It also offers useful tools like dashboards and widgets that give my PMs easy access to essential information. I especially value that Deltek regularly updates the software and has an idea portal where clients can suggest new features for Ajera. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ajera could benefit from improvements on the financial accounting side. The reports are somewhat cumbersome, requiring constant clicks to drill down for details. I’d prefer the information to be more readily accessible and easier to print. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that is a full product system, accounting, project management, payroll. It's great! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish it had a better help sectioin rather than having to go to another website, i.e. Deltek Learning Zone or the online help. It would be great if there were widgets that could be accessed to certain functions in the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ajera makes our project management easy with the Schedule Manager and various reports. Invoicing is also easy with many options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish there was more flexibility on some of the user screens such as filtering and sorting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
