The scalability of Cassandra, along with the customizations done by Datastax, is terrific for enterprise use cases. AstraDB, their Database as a service, is easy to use and cost-effective. There are drivers/SDKs/APIs for most languages/tools/frameworks you want to integrate with. Stargate is a cherry on top of the cake. A few general issues with Apache Cassandra are no transactional guarantee and joins. The eventual consistency will not work for all use cases. The Astra service lacks capabilities for extendable monitoring and observability. Datastax Astra also lacks the ability for refined RBAC and network security.
