What do you like best about datapine?

Once upon a time, the product offered some capable features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

Their product at one point was competitive but little has changed over the years except for their ever-increasing pricing. Tableau and Power BI is far more powerful, cheaper and easier to use. Be wary, they require 4 months notice just to cancel their contract. Give them anything less and they will renew you automatically for another two years. Response from Heiko Tröster of datapine

Thanks for your review! We're very sorry if you encountered difficulties while using our software since we want to make sure each customer receives the best possible service and experience. We're constantly improving our UX, also by listening to our customers' feedback which is extremely important in the current and future development of our product. We're dedicated to offer a truly self-service tool, and regularly develop new features, such as our recent self-service predictive analytics, somehow unique within the market. Our software has changed in the last years, but the focus on our customers is always one of our priorities, therefore it's quite a misfortune that you didn't reach out to us before your cancellation.

We also try to deliver our contracts with clear termination time and we advise each customer to contact us if there are any doubts. In your specific case, the longer cancellation time was because of a 2-year contract, that included pricing discounts as well.

What do you like best about datapine?

Overall, I believe datapine is a great solution. They have a range of functionalities that have made our lives way easier in many aspects. That said, I think the predictive analytics feature has been the most valuable for us. This module of the tool is very easy to use and it proves to be highly valuable when it comes to budgeting as we can identify trends and relationships in the data and make decisions based on that. It is also quite helpful in identifying potential risks and loss drivers so we can prepare for them in advance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

So far, we’ve really enjoyed using the tool and have not encountered many issues. If I have to say something, there could be more support material on how to generate mobile dashboards. Although to be fair, their support team is always available to help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

datapine simplified our analytics process from the extraction of data to the generation of reports. It has been faster and more automated than other traditional tools often used in finance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about datapine?

I especially appreciated the fact that I can run advanced SQL queries and visualize them really easily. Their dashboards are very intuitive and fast to generate, and they offer several charting options. We need to visualize a lot of complex data on a daily basis, so being able to add a secondary axis or mix different chart types into one was a prime benefit from using datapine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

Their trial period is kind of short considering that we are a big team and we needed to test every feature carefully before investing in the tool. However, their customer service team immediately extended our trial period when we asked them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering datapine:

Take advantage of their customer support. For example, if you have a type of data source that is not covered in their connectors you can contact them and they will make sure you can connect it to the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using datapine our analysis process was done involving several tools, some for generating queries, others for visualizing the data and generating reports, etc. To solve this, we were looking for a tool that would let us automate some processes to cut down the manual work and make our work more efficient. With datapine, we were able to connect data sources easily and generate reports with just a few clicks. The software updates the sources automatically so we didn’t have to worry about manually updating them and you can generate interactive dashboards within seconds. We could perform all the analysis from harvesting to visualizing in one solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Their SQL box is still too advanced for most of our non-technical users; however, we get along fine without it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about datapine?

Generally speaking, datapine has been an optimal solution to deal with the development of large projects. Data sources related to suppliers, budgets, scheduling, and performance can easily be connected and then displayed with dashboards that are quite easy to create. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

Although the tool is pretty straightforward to use, they do offer some advanced features for more technical users that we couldn’t explore so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering datapine:

Take advantage of their automation features, we never had to create a report or manually extract our data ever again. The tool provides you with everything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed to make the analysis process more efficient and faster. With remote working being a permanent thing now, we decided to invest in a tool that was going to keep everyone connected with the data, but overall be interactive and user-friendly. It has certainly not disappointed us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about datapine?

Working as a commercial buyer for an FMCG company means I have to be constantly monitoring the performance of several stores. For this reason, I was looking for a solution that would automate the process so I could have more time to focus on the other part of my job, and that’s exactly what I found with this tool. datapine has data connectors that allowed us to get all our internal and external sources of information in one place. With just a few clicks the heavy workload was done automatically and we had real-time data to start working with.

The tool also includes predictive analytics features that are fairly easy to use. Being able to predict trends and future outcomes, like product demands on each store, changed the way we deal with inventories and production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

Some advanced features are a bit overwhelming at the beginning for non-technical users. For example, some people in my team struggled with custom fields for advanced charts or the SQL mode. Nevertheless, they offer several tutorials on their site so you can learn to use the tool in detail. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering datapine:

Make sure you test all the features in detail to extract the maximum potential out of the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

The major benefit of using datapine is having one central point of access for all of our data sources. The fact that the tool is easy to use has also facilitated interdepartmental collaboration since everyone can create their own dashboards and access the data. What do you like best about datapine?

I particularly enjoyed the fact that the tool gives you full control over your dashboard’s design thanks to white labeling features. This allowed my team to create specific dashboards for each brand with its logo and color scheme, making them look way more professional. I also really enjoyed the different sharing options that the software offers. You can share your reports with a live URL with different viewing or editing rights, this way you choose what information each of the recipients is allowed to see or change. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

The 14-days trial is okay to test the software features but not enough to see if implementing the tool brings benefits to the company. However, they are willing to extend it if need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering datapine:

If you have a problem or question do not hesitate to contact them, their customer service is fast and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main benefit that my team and myself have gained from this software is the time efficiency of the reporting process. With datapine we are able to visualize data from several touchpoints into one place, saving everyone countless hours of manual data collection. In addition, the reports are fairly easy to create, with just a few clicks you have an interactive dashboard that displays all your KPIs in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about datapine?

My favorite thing about the tool is its user-friendly interface. It enabled everyone in my company to start working with the data available and significantly reduced the risks of errors. The dashboards are easy to create and they offer a wide range of simple and advanced chart options to visualize our most important KPIs in the best way possible. I was especially impressed with the predictive analytics feature. I just had to insert the required data points and the tool was able to predict future outcomes in my data with neural networks technology, something that I haven’t seen in many tools so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

Even though the tool is straightforward and easy to use. They could offer more tutorials for advanced features such as SQL coding so that the less experienced users can familiarize themselves with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering datapine:

Take your time to explore the tool. datapine has many features, some more advanced such as an SQL box where you can write your own codes. I advise taking advantage of all of them during your 14 days trial so that you can fully understand how your business can benefit from the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

Being in charge of multiple projects at a time is not an easy task. Many aspects need constant monitoring like scheduling, suppliers, progress status, and more. We wanted a tool that could facilitate the process of data in all stages, from collection to analysis, and datapine was the perfect solution. The main advantage that we found in the software is that it became our single point of access for all our databases, which enabled us to perform advanced analysis with all our information in hand. What do you like best about datapine?

I was impressed with the ease of use, analytical features as well as creating dashboards to present my work to our non-technical colleagues. In the past years, I have encountered numerous tools and datapine is one of my top choices simply because their user interface is clean, but the software power enormous. I was especially impressed with their predictive analytics features where you need to simply insert required data points, and the tool will generate a prediction with a selected confidence interval. Up until now, I haven’t seen many tools that made that feature so easy (literally, all I need is a few clicks). Also, the SQL box enables me to write my own code, and if I want a visual interface, I can quickly switch between modes.

Additionally, conditional formatting, numerous filters, and the interactivity level of the dashboards, from drill-downs (my favorite) to widgets and chart zoom, always manage to impress me since I can build data scenarios quickly as long as I connect my preferred data source.

The analytical power is undoubtedly one of the best. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

I hope their analytical features will continue to evolve as it would be good to have other languages included such as R, not just SQL. I would love to see more statistical possibilities, for example, factor, or cluster analysis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering datapine:

Consider your use case first and bear in mind the trial lasts 14 days so you have plenty of time to explore the basics of the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

I wanted to test a tool that will give me the best options for advanced analytics calculations. Although other tools offer similar possibilities, datapine has the easiest interface to work with, and I could completely eliminate 20 other steps that usually cost me a lot of time. It’s great because although they offer advanced capabilities, average business users can benefit from the tool as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about datapine?

From a CTO perspective, datapine enabled us to store and unify all our data in one central place (cloud) and have access to advanced analytics at any time (SaaS BI). They do offer also an on-premise solution, but we opt for SaaS and we were extremely satisfied regarding the reliability and query speed. The centralized location enabled us to access our data from anywhere. As we have fairly large datasets we need to work with, datapine offered us a fast connection to our internal and external data sources and we weren’t disappointed. The heavy workload is done automatically, and the tool can comfortably handle enormous amounts of data. We could easily utilize their connectors and integrate any kind of data source. Now we have one software that handles and streamlines all our data management requirements, including departmental management, from finances to sales. From a management perspective, it definitely saved us a lot of time and enabled us to handle all our data from a single place. This centralized approach enabled everyone to access the data, build KPIs and dashboards as well as reports on our own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

Some members of our team needed more time to get acquainted with the product so I would prefer more tutorials and detailed Q&As. Their customer service is very good, but more materials that we could use internally would be great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering datapine:

Simply try it and you won’t be disappointed. It will take you some time to get used to it if you have no analytical background at all, but in the end, the product is of great quality and worth the investment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

We wanted a single software that can handle our data in a cloud setting and easily connect our data sources. The value we got cannot be compared with other tools since datapine is focused on the best possible user experience and can certainly compete with other, even bigger players in the field. The benefits we experienced are diverse: one point of access while our managers can build their own dashboards, reports, and analysis without any spreadsheet or manual calculations. What do you like best about datapine?

The possibility to create advanced visualizations and dashboards for all my marketing data without

restrictions. I can simply connect my data sources and create as many charts and dashboards as I

need, whether on an ad hoc or strategic basis. I can assign viewers and share my reports with

anyone who needs to get the information and automate the whole process, if needed. They have

great dashboard templates, which make it quite easy to build professional KPI dashboards. You also

get auto-generated dashboards, for example when you connect your google analytics or twitter via

API. The interface is very intuitive and easy to use so I like it as a marketing analytics solution that

really delivers on what I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about datapine?

At this point, the only thing I don’t really like is the advanced SQL mode. There you can write

manually SQL queries, what can be quite a challenging without in-dept SQL skills. However, until

know I was able to make all needed analyses using the drag and drop interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering datapine:

If you need a tool that will join all your (marketing) sources, then datapine is the tool to go. Besides,

the support they offer is fast and productive. In short, it’s worth giving it a try. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is datapine solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our problem was mainly disparate information. We were using multiple tools to manage our data,

and our team had difficulties to unite all the information to actually produce a report and

recommendations. We didn’t know how big our data-potential is, and we couldn’t know since many

files and presentations were slowing us down. After implementing datapine in our workflow, our

entire business information is accessed from a single point, making our work faster and more

accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
