This is one of the few online press databases and press list-making services. It is a handy tool. It's also nice to be able to submit to PR Web without an additional charge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cision PR Newswire?

This database is RARELY ever up to date. My team and I notice errors regularly, many of which include listing press at outlets where they have not been working for YEARS. We also have, more than once, spoken directly to editors and been told that the majority of the 'masthead' listed in Cision in incorrect. This is a very fast-moving industry and a PR professional is only as good as their list. This is not a reliable tool. The interface also needs a massive overhaul. It is not intuitive and does not make it easy to keep notes of relationships and outreach which each press person. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Cision PR Newswire:

If this service were to invest heavily in both an interface overhaul and research to keep it up to date, I would be inclined to give it another try. Until then, it is a dinosaur in the communications industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This tool allows you to do a generic database search for specific topics/contact types/outlets/ and regions.It is really useful when I am doing a more broad search for contacts. I have been able to find outlets that I didn't know about. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Cision doesn't seem to be updated regularly. I find that a lot of editors listed are outdated and links to websites don't always work. When building a list I have to do additional research in order to be 100% that I am pitching to the right person. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
