The submission process is easy to use, their team will review release and it coves a wide list of media influencers — and takes away from the task of putting together a targeted list. They also have great customer service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are a lot of additional charges that can add up — such as logos — and there is a word count restriction that costs you if you go over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
IP changed hands a couple of times, from PR Web to Vocus and now to Cision but with every iteration feature set has grown. Tools are good, international databases are decent and media monitoring is helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
User experience is really lacking. I wish they would hire a good UX designed to make the platform more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cision is almost always up to date, despite reporters shifting quite frequently. The database is extremely powerful, including best contacts and a comprehensive list of outlets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At first, the user interface was a bit complicated. When searching, it's unclear if categories are limiting, as they sometimes narrow searches a bit too much. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have used this minimally to help out with our legal teams PR. Great tool to easily distribute press releases and manage contacts Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Hard for people who aren't familiar with PR-- but the support team has been great Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cision isn’t the Cadillac of PR distribution and monitoring tools Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far, nothing. The dashboard are user-friendly and the tool capability meets our needs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like having the ability to get my news out to multiple outlets quickly without endless pitching. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The statistics they deliver back are always inflated, and make recapping seem unrealistic for clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that you can easily search as specific or as open as you want on Cision. It's great especially for building lists and understanding the type of topics each person writes for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The program isn't totally user friendly, but if you have the time to dig in and explore the program one afternoon, it's really a great tool! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Having used a few other platforms, I feel Cision (formerly Vocus) best captures all earned media and its value. It is also pretty simple to distribute press releases and its database is pretty useful as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In trying to keep our costs down, our package makes compiling specific areas of coverage (print vs. online or broadcast, etc.) is a little more difficult than I would like, but still not too bad. Also, custom lists can be tedious in regards to uploading individual names. It would be more helpful if I could upload an Excel spreadsheet, instead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After having tried a few of Cision's competitors with lower prices, none of them even compare to being as comprehensive as Cision. It's not perfect, but it's the best we have available, especially with tracking down journalist information. There are also really great tutorials for first time users of Cision, which I have my interns complete if they are not familiar with Cision. Cision customer service is also very timely to respond if ever there is an issue or we need additional accounts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's not as consistently updated as it should be, so we cannot rely solely on Cision to gather the contacts we need. If you're starting out in PR and are still building relationships, this is a huge drawback because it's not 100% reliable. It's capability for sending out press releases is fine, but is not as good as other email marketing software. Also, Cision is pretty expensive. Fortunately, I am at a large company that finds this service valuable. However, it's easy to see why others choose to go with competitors such as Meltwater. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
