Integration with other software is awesome The ability to have access to suppliers catelogues with prices being constantly reviewed and updated right there on the app. Means I'm not caught out in if prices rise during estimating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The bulk of the work is needed at the start to input all of the data and recipes to be used while estimating. But once it's all inputted it is a phenomenal tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our Company has been using Buildxact for a couple of years. At first it was only used as a quoting program, with its advanced take off feature it made quoting more efficient. We are now utilising the job part more effectively with the amaizng help from all the buildxact staff, any questions or queries they are happy to help, with free sessions to ensure we are understanding the program. We are able to track all costs for all jobs and link our labours hours via deputy so nothing will get missed.
Another great feature is the site diary, this enables communication between all employees. This is done daily with the Buildxact Onsite App.
Buildxact has made day to day duties much easier, wouldn't know where we'd be without it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As the program continues to upgrade there can be a few hick ups, the app can have a few glitches but it's understandable.
Unfortunetly MYOB is not as intregrated as XERO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ease of use for estimating and qty calculation. I use it every single day for all my qty's. The client portal is good, but the time it' takes to get the client onboard can be a bit hard. The customer support is great. I've had a few glitch issues and they've been onto it within minutes or at the latest within the hour. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Project management transferance to trades and contractor down to a task level. Implementation with a full business scope is limited with the transference of billing, invoicing & time/cost tracking not seemless from an accounting forward or back process. The quote request function is a little difficult as some companies (especially larger suppliers) have security measures that prevent them from gaining access to the portal. Buildxact is an excellent solution for small and medium-sized construction enterprises. Its user-friendly design makes managing estimates, schedules, and budgets much easier. The software's ability to produce quick bids and manage project deadlines is a significant time saver. I found the interaction with accounting software such as Xero to be seamless, which aids in keeping funds organised. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While it meets the majority of the requirements for minor construction projects, it has limits when dealing with larger, more complex projects. The reporting features could be more extensive, and I believe the mobile app experience should be enhanced for better on-site administration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Locating all of your quotes and costings in one place. Being able to quote using current pricing is great. Implementation of all of its features takes some time to get your head aropund but there is plenty of documentation and instructions to help you out. Xero integrates with Buildxact almost seamlessly, a bit tricky at the start.
Overall a great product that is improving all the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The price per month is pretty high. I would love an option to have a proper site diary set up that employees and subcon tractors can track the time spent oonsite and those times to be put towards a perticular project Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Tracks costs and revenue on jobs.
Turn around time for helpdesk is quite fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The system is missing many basic features - you are unable to track which user has performed a task so anyone with access is able to make updates with no further trace. If you're running multiple companies you will need a different log in for each.
Once a purchase order is raised, if it was accidentally put to the wrong job it can't just be moved. It needs to be cancelled and reentered from scratch. Invoice dates and wording are hard coded, invoice presentation is not very professional and needs a redesign. If you have estimated something will cost you $1,000 but it only costs $800 there is no way to close that cost category and it impacts the WIP. Feature requests go unanswered for months and features are slow to be released. Overall, while it does a good job of tracking costs and revenue for jobs, it lacks in every other area. We are still having to manually invoice our clients through our accounting system, manually track and enter employee expense claims, manually record our WIP figures, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The receipe feature allows us to establish baseline costs to the business of a product (say m2 of concrete @ 150mm), then tweak margin separately, either directly to the item, section of the quote or overall project. Very flexible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like that you can't do a curved lm (linear meter) takeoff. This has to be. done as a series of straight lines and can get crowded in the takeoff. Also, dont like that once you have send out an RFQ for an item it essentailly locks this item to further manipulation (e.g if you wanted to add install etc to a suppliers quote). all in one platform with most of the features required
easy to learn without any training, but training is provided free if required
AI chat is helpful if i need to know how to do something most of the time, and if AI cant help, a real person usauly replies pretty quick withing trading hours Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Im going to be a bit critical with some nit picking things becasue i want to still use build xact and want to help make it better
- Price compared to similar products, the monthly cost makes it tempting to try and learn how to use another program
- iphone app is useless, to begin with it barely had anything to do with the website, and using website on any device other than computer is difficult. iPad app would be great
- Awkward workflow restrictions, for example, once a job has been accepted, theres no easy way to do a take off/measurement without either reverting to draft, same with adjusting category allowances, on some occasions ive wanted to move extra money from one category to another to even it all up and not show negative, but it almost feels like its punishing me for getting the estimate wrong.
- sometimes slow, if you start clicking subcategory items to fast, it will say slow down, however when you are in edit mode its fine, not sure why theres a speed limitation if i dont click edit first
- new lead/estimate data entry is a little bit clunky, 1. requires client phone number and email when sometimes i might not have that information on hand, not sure why its a requirements to proceed 2. have to input client information in lean and in estimate, i understand sometimes these two could be differnet, but most of the time they are the same, at least give option to choose " same as before"
- workflow could be improved, Some form of visual Kanban style
- job scheduling is still difficult to play around with, doesnt play nice with all browsers. Also option to share job schedule on client portal would be good
- Client portal needs more interactive features, request for information, Option selection polls, easy upload of pc selections etc, Some communication can be done here, but its not worth doing any of it if you cant do it all.
- Only has option to calculate project markup, not Margin, i know it can be easy to calculate a 20% margin is roughly 25% markup, This is something new builders may not know the difference and could be loosing out.
- "Apply to all" function on category options Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best about Buildxact is how it simplifies the entire workflow for our construction projects. I like how user-friendly it is. Even if you're not super tech-savvy, you'll find it pretty easy to navigate. It's nice to use it for estimating, and once a job is in progress, it is simple to manage purchase orders, variations and outgoing invoices. It makes it so much easier to keep track of everything and stay organized. Plus the customer support is also great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think one thing that could be improved is the real-time syncing. When several team members are working on the same job, editing costs/quantities. If one person saves their work, it doesn't automatically update for the other person and they have to refresh their page before making any edits, or they risk losing their changes. I like how they inform when other team member made changes, but I feel like it can cause some mix-ups if we aren't careful. Real-time syncing would greatly improve our workflow efficiency. Quoting and take offs are easy, even changing a quote when a client decides to add or change an item. Easy in just a couple of clicks. Inputing actual costings against quoted items is quick an easy to help track financials against our jobs.
Easy to check jobs costings and quotes while on site, variations can be done while in front of the client and sent straight away saving time and any confusion.
Loads of features which are all very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Havent really found any downsides, we have been using the system for about 2 years now and couldnt run without it now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like about Buildexact is the ease of creating an estimate. Easy uploading of plans and ease in executing the various takeoffs. I like the different choices for including your markup. The customer don't have to see your markup if you don't want them to. There's so many good aspects in using Buildexact just do a trial offer and you will see for yourself. I really don't see any down side, except taking the time to learn how to use the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
