There will always be varying comfort levels and capabilities with technology among faculty. Bb is a platform that even the most basic user can utilize.
Anthology makes a concerted effort to host a wide variety of training sessions, "roadmap" sessions to inform users of what's coming, user groups to connect users together, focus groups to solicit input, and other miscellaneous connection opportunities. The point is they actively seek input, share information, and connect the community together! Oh! And there's the Idea Exchange where end-users can submit an idea for others in the community to vote on -- those with the most votes, Anthology develops in Bb Learn.
As with any technical tool, it takes an investment of time to learn its functions and tools. After the initial learning curve, there is so much you can do, and it's a relatively straightforward system.
Anthology is actively working to enhance their products and capabilities on an on-going basis. It's great to see so many enhancements and new features rolled out each month.
Anthology is also making great strides in Bb Data by creating a dashboard for stakeholders to access along with pre-created reports users can easily pull to extract a variety of data points. Not always intuitive/easy-to-understand settings. However, I feel this is being addressed with Ultra Course View -- things are more intuitive and user-friendly.
Help articles/explanation tutorials are not as current as they could be. This makes it difficult to learn and understand. Anthology is currently working to address this and bring materials more current.
The transition to Ultra Course View is a huge undertaking for an institution. No question, it will be worth it, but it takes a large commitment of resources by the institution to prepare and make the transition. I've been following the development of Blackboard for almost eight years. The constant effort to make changes and improvements always surprises. Two other aspects that deserve to be highlighted are the stability of the system and, especially, the UX team, always willing to help. Our institution is making an exciting transition from Blackboard Original to Blackboard Ultra course view. The Ultra platform boasts a range of innovative features that our students are discovering to be much more user-friendly than the Original version. Remarkably, the support we receive from our dedicated engineering team is exceptional. They consistently address any issues I raise within 24 hours, and in the rare event of a system outage—something that has happened only once in five years—they mobilize immediately to resolve it. This level of responsiveness and commitment significantly enhances our learning environment, making it easier for faculty and students to thrive. There's a variety of things but we mostly use Blackboard Learn to host the courses of Law and Business to our students in the university. The ease of use and customization is beyond our expectation, whether we talk about enrolling a mass users to bulk of courses, all you need is the Genius SIS (Data Integration) and it can do it in a matter of seconds. Institution Hierarchy help us a lot when we need to co brand the instance based on our campuses. The support channel is simple and response time has also improved over the months recently. My experience is mostly with Blackboard Original, and this version of the LMS is simply outdated. An ancient user interface, lack of modern LMS features, and functions that simply break with very little explanation as to why from Blackboard (now Anthology) Support makes this LMS a very difficult one to recommend.
