What do you like best about Blackbaud CRM?

We used Blackbaud's CRM because it's billed as a catch-all tool for nonprofits/advocacy work. While some software requires various accounts to access different tools, Blackbaud is one login for multiple programs. It hooked to our CRM and allowed us to connect ticketing and membership options more easily to web content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackbaud CRM?

We disliked most of the interface. If you've used any other modern CRM you'll notice the outdated admin interface, complicated information structure, and few tools to support new admins. Blackbaud's CRM is not a good product for any organization without a web developer on staff. Tool broke constantly and are not intuitive for admins. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud CRM:

Look past the sales pitch. We were swayed by the promises of our (non web developer) admins having numerous tools for easier workflow and contact management, but the clunkiness of Blackbaud's CRM created more problems for us in the end. What problems is Blackbaud CRM solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used the CRM for managing contacts (particularly various member levels), donor management, email marketing, event ticketing, and development needs. While it offers numerous tools, none of the tools are significant. For instance, while it's nice to have email marketing built-in, we'd have been better off loading lists into an email program like MailChimp for better templates and email tracking. What do you like best about Blackbaud CRM?

Very little. If it worked adequately, Lead tracking would be amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackbaud CRM?

BB gives too much control to the end-user. The software lacks in many vital areas such as building and tracking lead campaigns, inability to link campaigns to leads/schools, inconsistencies with website apps linking and having end users run into constant issues, the end-of-year rollover is very messy and has too many steps, and it does not allow you to create/assign tasks to team mates on lead follow-up. Salesforce is 10000% better than this software. In addition, if you want to get out of your contract, it is virtually impossible. They will NOT accommodate you in any way and will even argue that the issues with the software are user error. They are extremely rude and take hours, even days to resolve your ticket. Most of the time, the ticket is closed and you will get an email stating it's closed due to "not able to replicate the issue", even though you're still experiencing the problem. Please do not waste your companies/schools' money on this product. I would much rather pay a little more to use Salesforce, then to deal with all the troubles you will have with Blackbaud. Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud CRM:

If you prefer to spend a lot of your time opening tickets (via chat by the way because they charge you for EVERYTHING, even phone support) then please use this software! Otherwise, I would never, ever recommend this software to any company looking to grow their business, school or track their lead pool/campaigns. It is extremely difficult to use, the training is 100% online and is limited to what you can ask/do during that time. In addition, I recently asked the consultant if I could call to ask a question before scheduling time, he said "let me be clear, all time spent assisting a request is billable to consulting time regardless of format." BB will nickel and dime your company simply because they can and you're locked into a contract! Don't do it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Blackbaud CRM solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have been trying to solve many of the same issues with BB for 7 months! Our setup is not correct, and users cannot create accounts, or when they do, the application is missing, causing us to lose clients at our company and making it inconvenient for people to have to come into the compnay to fill out paper applications. In addition, every time I have to setup a new user internally, it takes hours, even days, because the system isn't setup correctly. I have to take all these extra steps to set up a new user for example: opening up incognito windows, or instead of clicking the "accept invitation" button in the email they send after creating an account, I have to select/copy/paste the invite into a separate browser because there "must be a glitch" between the email and the invitation. It is just extremely frustrating to have to go into work every day and spend hours troubleshooting BlackBaud issues then I do actual work. Please save yourself a headache and do not use this product. What do you like best about Blackbaud CRM?

Blackbaud offers an array of tools from Raiser's Edge, NXT, Merchant Services, WordPress, Online Express, Luminate Online. Their new NXT tool allows you to see donor data in a very attractive format with charts, graphs, reminders to reach out to donors. Raiser's offers reports, online express for easy donation pages, email pages. They have WordPress templates to use for your website that are easy to customize. Gifts from online express are easy to pull up and it's easy to put in a batch and create donor records. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackbaud CRM?

They are very pricey and any new addition always requires extra cost. Sometimes the data in the dashboard doesn't match with data in NXT. For example, consecutive donors years are sometimes different in NXT and sometimes data in queries varies from data in reports and the dashboard. Customer service sometimes takes a while to get back to you especially about issues with your WordPress site. Their Team Builder crowdfunding tool is very difficult to execute. It takes a long time to read many knowledge base articles and to learn how to create fundraising pages. It's kind of an outdated platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud CRM:

Speak to a rep and understand all the tools available. Every feature is very expensive so make sure you are going to use the features. NXT is a must need. I wouldn't recommend using Team Raiser as it's too complicated to setup so use maybe crowdrise or other crowdfunding, peer to peer tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We use almost all Blackbaud tools including our WordPress website, Raiser's Edge, Team Raiser, Luminate Online, NXT. They are very costly however it's worth the price. We love our new website and it's easy to create online giving forms. We are able to play videos on our website as well. We are easily able to track donors, giving and to create reports, queries. What do you like best about Blackbaud CRM?

Blackbaud CRM is fairly intuitive, but I really like that it keeps a "Recently Accessed" list on my left task bar. I'm constantly switching between constituents and it's great to not type them in the search box over and over again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blackbaud CRM?

Because I work with alumni and donors, I tend to do a lot of research on them. It would be great to have a space within Blackbaud to link their social media accounts or research/professional links. This would tie in all pertinent information rather than just quick demographical type things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's a centralized place to keep all donor and alumni information. Because we're a university where our constituents could be in multiple categories and thus members of many different entities, it's great to have one location for their information so we always know it is up-to-date and consistent with what other folks around campus are using.
