Belkasoft is amazing in many ways. First off, Belkasoft allows seamless processing and analysis of device images while still staying in one app. Belkasoft also allows me to learn about the way forensic artifacts work without paying for a $1000 course by occasionally giving away free courses that are well worth the time spent. Belkasoft also hs many tools that work very well. For instance, Belkasoft X has itself and a GPT client integrated. They also have a Ram Capture tool that does the job well. I dislike that Belkasoft X does not parse out artifacts well sometimes. Occasionally, when I import images of Windows or Mac, Belkasoft X does not parse out the emails and other artifacts wel. I used Belkasoft in my Android Forensics class. The tool was incredibly easy to set up and integrate. Its user-friendly GUI and professional look made working through tasks simple and efficient. Of course, like any tool, it’s not perfect. Some areas feel like they could benefit from a bit more polish, but that’s par for the course in this field. A nice easy-to-use application that is geared to handle many types of digital investigation types as well as the most common data sources such as computers, mobile devices, cloud data and memory analysis. Belkasoft X can be utilized easily to triage devices for quick high-level analysis all the way to full deep dive investigations. Having the ability to have all your data from all sources in one platform and analyzed together is of great value. The interface of Belkasoft X is excellent. Very straight-forward with no unnecessary options to choose from just to get started looking at the data. The speed of the processing of artifacts is impressive as well. You have full control over how deep you want to dig into the data at first launch with options to reprocess on-the-go as needed. There are some features missing from the Hex Viewer which I am used to that I think can easily be added. Doing a deep carve of your data seems to create a "data source" for each found container file which can really over-populate the "Structure" and "File System" tabs. Belksoft X enables the user to dig deep into the data and find the artifacts you need for the cases you are working. The tool supports multiple operating systems and presents the data in a understandable way. The ability to go deep into the hex, sql lite databases and plists files are extremely helpful for validated the findings presented in the artifact viewer. I enjoy the most to be able to perform keyword searches in all metadata (including logs, file names and event names) which I find it very useful to do analysis. The performance is good and I am able to find the functions I want to use quite easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find the filtering option quite confusing. Sometimes I have to restart the application to select a folder or clear a filter.
