What do you like best about Backendless?

I like the flexible of Backendless. It can handle all things related to backend development, including database, business logic, and notifications. It's nice to learn one tool that meets so many needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backendless?

I wish authentication was easier. Also, documentation for those using no-code platforms could be more built out similar to how the documentation is built out for the major coding languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?

Traditional development / coding is more complicated than it needs to be. Backendless is helping address this pain point by building a platform that most people will be able to use if they put in the effort. This unlocks innovation and creativity across the board. A net positive for everyone building and everyone using what we build. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Christopher Fanchi of Backendless

Thank you for the positive review, Charles! We are actively working on Backendless University, an educational site that will consolidate all of our resources to make it easier to navigate our documentation, videos, and articles. Hopefully that will make learning and building easier!

What do you like best about Backendless?

BackEndless abstracts away all the boilerplate code that is required to get up and running with a back end for a mobile app, and lets you focus on the business logic for the app. Back end relational data, onboarding and authentication/authorization, file storage, etc. have all been taken care of. In addition to the great functionality, the backendless platform has some great bite sized training videos in the form of "missions" that guide you through implementing various bits of functionality and getting up to speed with the platform. There is an active forum, where you can ask questions when you get stuck, and APIs for popular mobile platforms. If you're looking for an alternative to FireBase, this would be a good option to take a look at. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backendless?

The only problem that I ran into with BackEndless was the lack of support for an IP range for the back end. I ran into a case where I needed to call into another API to enable some key functionality, but the API required a whitelist of IP's that it would allow connections from. 95% of the time I don't think this would have been an issue, and was a peculiarity of my particular app, but I thought it bears mentioning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Backendless:

Determine the level of control you need for your backend, and the amount of effort you would be able to put in to get a back end up and running. If you need the finer grained control for a mobile back end you may be more interested in Azure/AWS, but if you prefer getting something up and running quickly, consider BackEndless. BackEndless is well suited for small development teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am using BackEndless to create a back end for a Xamarin Forms mobile application. It has saved me tons of time getting something up and running. Compared to Azure Web Apps, there is a ton less work required to get something up and going. Compared to FireBase, I prefer the BackEndless relational database support. Administration of permissions and data is also easier with this option in my experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Christopher Fanchi of Backendless

Thank you for the kind review and feedback, Aaron! While there will be some rare edge cases that a development platform like ours may not be able to facilitate, we're glad you have been able to use our platform successfully with a Xamarin Forms frontend.

What do you like best about Backendless?

It may be called Backendless, but the backend is where I spend most of my time, even in the tutorial. I love how much that I can do and visually see the connections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backendless?

The tutorial needs to update a couple of missions. Plus, it sometimes didn't register that I finished a mission, leaving me trying to "get it right" for hours, when it turned out right all along. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?

I need logical pools and cause-effect, controllable by more than one player. I care much more about the mechanisms than the visual art that I hope to one day accompany it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Christopher Fanchi of Backendless

Thank you for the review, Jairus! If there are issues with some of the Missions, please let our team know on our Slack channel or support forum and we'll take a look! The last thing we want is for users to feel like their efforts to learn the platform are not properly rewarded.

What do you like best about Backendless?

Basically, you can build the most complicated applications without knowing how to write code. Everything is intuitive and logical. I tried other platforms to build my applications but they are limited or very expensive, but most of all it is not possible to let you build and charge you only after you put the application in production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Backendless?

I hate that there is still no way to build an Android or IOS application directly. And I don't like it when the server crashes. It is true that it has been falling less and less lately Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Backendless solving and how is that benefiting you?

I solved my problem with the application necessary for the development of my business. Application that I am constantly developing according to the specifications that appear permanently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Christopher Fanchi of Backendless

Thanks for the kind review, Horea! You can see in the link below the steps you can take to wrap your Backendless app in a native Flutter shell so that you can publish to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This is the easiest way to get your apps onto Android and iOS, aside from publishing to the Backendless Viewer app. I hope that helps!
