Top Rated Backendless Alternatives

Backendless has a "missions" section that rewards users with points that can be cashed in for, essentially, a backendless gift card. Not only is this an extremely strong motivator for people like me (with ADHD), but its just a great user experience all around. The tutorials aren't too complicated, but they effectively introduce you to the system and help you get past that "don't-know-how-to-do-anything" hump. From there, Backendless has hundreds of tutorial videos on youtube to help further develop your knowledge and skills.
Another wonderful thing about Backendless is the quick responsiveless of the support team. I posted a lot of questions on the support forum whenever I had an issue that I couldn't solve with youtube tutorials. Every post got a helpful response within a few days. Often times, the responses weren't complete solutions, but were guides towards the right answer. I was honestly a bit frustrated at first that I wasn't getting the exact solution to my problems, but I realized that this was actually a better system for teaching me how to do things on my own, rather than relying on help every time.
The last positive note I want to focus on is just the feature depth to backendless. You would expect that a tool like this wouldn't be able to do so much, but the possibilities are almost limitless. I am not a strong enough coder yet to fully take advantage of the custom component and custom theme/CSS tools, but the fact that they are there means that there is almost no limit to what you can build in the backendless system. There are two downsides that I encountered in Backendless. Neither is overwhelming, and I would still recommend the service to anyone who wants to learn coding concepts without having to learn syntax.
The first is that the UI builder a bit more restrictive and has a higher learning curve than I expected. I come from a UX/UI design background where I use tools like Figma and Indesign with much more freedom. I recognize that the systems are designed for very different things, but I think the UI builder in backendless could borrow some of the Figma user experience when it comes to customization and layout.
The second is that I occasionally encountered blank or "work-in-progress" pages when searching through the Backendless docs. It was never a deal-breaker, because I could always post a question on the support page, but it would have been if the docs were more complete (especially regarding the UI builder). I took about fifteen credits of computing and IT classes in undergrad, so I have some sense of how much training is necessary to do meaningful coding and how much information goes into creating an app. Backendless's combination of no-code capabilities and training modules empower beginners to develop a capability in weeks or months that I had thought would take years. The training modules and videos are world-class and given by the CEO himself. I'm still new to learning all I need to know to build apps but am very impressed by what I have seen thus far. If I could change anything it would be that Loc data could be added to the Backendless database with API calls. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have been looking for a long time, for a no-code solution with a self-hosted option. I have trialled many options with varying degrees of success and satisfaction, and this is by far the most comprehensive and customisable solution I have found. The support is excellent, responses are within hours, and the team work with you until your issue/question is resolved. The pricing structure is fair, and not the standard "per user" found in similar products. This makes it a much more affordable robust solution for small businesses or teams to implement and use. The learning/training tools are very helpful and cover all aspects of the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The extensive customisability makes it a fair bit harder to learn, but the training tools and videos help immensely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of use and functionality of backendless is flawless. As a small app development company, we found it simple to integrate our systems and have them hosted on backendless. We are a small company with big ambitions and Backendless allows for this. We especially appreciate the Free plans, which allows use of the platform for development and testing purposes, not imposing any timescales forcing us to upgrade to a paid plan if the time isn't right. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking to embark on the app development journey, it's the perfect starting point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The current pricing structure unfortunately does not suit our current needs. Whilst the Free plan is brilliant for development and testing, we need more capacity in order to launch. The variation in pricing for the Scale plan currently doesn't fit with the type of clients we deal with as they like to know exactly how much they are paying from month to month, and a set number of API calls over a period for a set price would help hugely. I have used various backend solutions, but Backendless has never failed to impress me. I first started using Backendless in 2015 as a quick prototyping tool and it has become my go-to platform for app development. I can confidently say it is the easiest platform available today to get started with backend development, and it even goes far beyond that to full fledged production scale applications. Just like any other cloud provider, Backendless suffers from occasional outages once or twice a year, but the team is always vigilant and never fails to get things back up and running in no time! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The codeless feature mattress development so much simpler and makes with so much quicker because there's less worry about syntax.
I don't know how the devs do it but support is truly incredible with responding to developer issues or inquiries in general in their support page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Can be expensive when trying to scale up to higher tier plans for more traffic (number of API calls).
Some incredibly rarely used SQL doesn't work (more intricate and complex stuff thankfully but still). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Backendless is a phenomenal platform. The capability to grow and scale from low code to pure code is a reason why we chose Backendless as a #lowcodedevelopment platform of choice.
Their support is second to none. I've used a lot of no/low-code platforms and as a rule, Backendless come up trumps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pricing model is my least favourite aspect as it's recently changed and the platform may become more expensive, though we're looking at ways to mitigate that issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a flexible backend solution for Mobile Apps that provides high customizability and great customer support. Able to host JavaScript API's as well as data storage. I prefer to write my own code vs the codelss options but can handle both great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some edge features do not work as intended (event timer notifications), but everything else has been great. Whenever something does not work as intended, the support team quickly responds and provides a solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Two things:
1) It's no-code / low-code, but the concepts are exactly the same as normal programming. It means it's less magical and allow you to progressively scale up the complexity of the app - at least that's my expectation. I have yet to go through the full loop.
2) Incredible support - this is what drove me to write a review. I experienced an issue while completing their excellent onboarding course (called Missions) - I reached out to support - this is crazy easy, I click the button within the onboarding course itself and all my details including which part of the course are automatically filled in. Then even more shocking for me is that 3 days later (yes, it included the weekends), not only did they reply to me with a solution... they actually deployed a new feature to ensure others won't run into the same issue. Coming from a design background, Backendless is not the easiest to pick up. Doing basic things like creating a dropdown etc takes more work than just selecting a pre-made component. On one hand this means you can create anything and not tied to any pre-made components. On the other it means taking more time than other no-code platforms to get up and running. Backendless is a structured database platform that is hosted in a Cloud enviroment and the Billing takes place on a SaaS basis. - The pricing is reasonable and well worth the money spent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We are developers of Mobile Phone Applications and our Developemt Platform / Tool we use is Flutter Flow and the Intergration to BackEndLess could be a lot better. It is lacking a lot of Features we require to achieve better integration to our Flutter Flow Apps Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
