Its overall very solid in all the important areas. But as a customer, we particularly appreciate:
Long-term support: Azul Platform Core provides long-term support and maintenance for each of its releases, which ensures that developers can use it with confidence for mission-critical applications.
Regular updates: Azul Platform Core is regularly updated with the latest bug fixes, security patches, and performance improvements, ensuring that developers have access to the latest features and enhancements.
Community support: Azul Platform Core has a large and active community of developers who provide support, share knowledge, and contribute to the development of the platform.
Overall, Azul Platform Core is a reliable, high-performance, and secure JDK that is compatible with a wide range of technologies and backed by a supportive community of developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Azul Platform Core has an active community, it may be smaller than some of the other more popular JDKs, such as OpenJDK or Oracle JDK. But this has never been an issue for us. If anything, it means there is less noise and its easier to navigate and get the right answers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a frontend and JavaFX developer, it is super convenient to have a JDK that includes JavaFX, especially when the JDK is this well-supported and stable. The Azul team shows fabulous presence and excellent communication skills. I couldn't be happier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I could not find any dislikes. Zulu is a great product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Azul is commited to maintain a OpenJDK distribution, did. this for a long time and not offer a free version but also a version we as an ISV can embed, backed by a commercial support contract. It was important for us, that we can do so without licensing number reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Currently we are looking into support for Cloud Operwting Systems and Comtaimer Images. There some cloud provides have their own concurrent offerings which we currently stay way from to maximize our investment - it's understandable that Azul does only tolarete those platforms, official support for them would help (to be fair we just requested some more and did not have a rejection yet, so it might come) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a member of the TornadoVM team, I have managed to access the GPU on my setup from Azul Zulu JDK 11 and 17 through TornadoVM (https://www.tornadovm.org/). TornadoVM is compatible with multiple JDK distributions and it is nice to see that it works also with Azul Zulu for our standard unit-tests and benchmarks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have not experienced something negative so far in the context of my work in TornadoVM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have aligned our software with an extensive selection of OpenJDK distributions based on our strategy to treat OpenJDK vendors equally, which provides flexibility in preference diversity as a convenience to our customers. Azul Zulu builds of OpenJDK are a perfect fit in that context and have seamlessly worked for us as well as for our customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have not found anything that we dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Zulu is a reliable, stable, high-performance OpenJDK distribution with support for all major LTS releases! Azul provides simply excellent customer support! Zulu is available for all major OS architectures, and if needed, JavaFX is ready to be bundled. JDK migrations have always been pretty smooth and straightforward. I couldn't find anything to complain about. Maybe just some product names, but that's just marketing. I hope this status lasts forever. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The product is created by some of the brightest minds in the Java eco system and it gets to show.
The product is easy to install, feels very complete and runs without any problems.
I recently had to install the JDK 20 version and it runs like a charm. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I cannot say that there is anything I dislike. Even preview releases contain the latests specs as specifiek for that specific Java version. This is great as it gives you an early possiblity to try out new language featues even before the become final. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have migrated several clients to Azul Platform Core, away from other JDK's. We have been able to always replace these JDK's, even in corner cases where old Java versions were used that, for instance, still work with Web Start. The support from Azul is simply outstanding, the product information clear and the offering tailored to what clients actually need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you compare Zulu to other OpenJDK distributions it's hard to come up with downsides. I guess there are also JDK's out there that offer better memory management and faster startup times, but these are not 100% the same product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a set it and forget it; it just works.
The selection of available versions and platform is excellent; sometimes I need to do some testing against older versions and they are all there.
The really good part for me was the instant and free support in the form of a PR when there was a problem for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Dislike is a too strong word, but it would be nice with a shorter delay when releasing the FX bundles compared to the vanilla ones. Other than that, I have nothing else that could be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have uses Zulu from openjdk 11 onwards and right now using JDK 18.
It is easy to configure.
I have faced no problem while developing applications on top of it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is nothing I dislike about it. It's all good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
