What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?

ArcGIS Pro offers me the ability to do anything I can imagine when working with geospatial data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?

The workflow for doing things correctly can sometimes be a bit tedious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use ArcGIS Pro for everything from creating simple choropleth maps of geospatial data to performing large scale drive time analyses. It is a compete one-software solution for all geospatial needs. When I am doing exploratory work I will often start somewhere else (e.g. R), but when it comes to creating a final product or anything that is computationally expensive, there is nothing else I would choose. What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?

ArcGIS has a modern and familiar interface which is quiet beginner friendly. ArcGIS pro has more tools compared to ArcMap for geospatial analysis and 3D visualization. More emphasis has been given toward the 3D visualization compared to ArcMap. ArcGIS has a easier way to create multiple layouts and save those for easy export. Easier to work with LiDAR data because of the tools and visualize capabilities. ArcGIS pro has advanced features to organize all the map Maps, Layouts and Scenes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?

ArcGIS has still certain things needs to be refined. There are certain bugs such as when I am trying to save a map it usually stuck on the default directory even though previously saved in different location. These bugs surely will be addressed by the future updates. Other thing is since I am well verse with the ArcMap I was quiet used to having each tool in same location which is usually a mussel memory. But due to the dynamic ribbon interface of ArcGIS, it is little bit frustrating until you get used to the dynamic nature of the ribbons and tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

ArcGIS pro has been a important tool for mapping and spatial data analysis. Especially in the field of disaster management. I need to map the disaster prone areas and also map the historical data along with the rainfall pattern to understand the areas at risk of landslides. This is quiet powerful and capable software for any industry especially related to dealing with locations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?

As an ArcGIS Pro user, I have been consistently impressed by the software's data visualization and analysis capabilities. With a vast array of tools and features, ArcGIS Pro has allowed me to effortlessly create, edit, and analyze complex geospatial data, transforming how I approach my work.

The user-friendly interface and seamless integration with other Esri products make importing, visualizing, and processing various data formats easy. The 2D and 3D visualization options have proven invaluable in my projects, allowing me to create professional and visually striking maps that effectively communicate the insights derived from my data analysis.

ArcGIS Pro's advanced geoprocessing tools have also empowered me to perform in-depth spatial analysis, such as calculating distances, finding patterns, and identifying relationships between different datasets. This has enabled me to make informed decisions and derive meaningful conclusions from my geospatial data.

Overall, my experience with ArcGIS Pro has been nothing short of remarkable. The software's ease of use, powerful data visualization capabilities, and comprehensive analytical tools have truly revolutionized the way I handle geospatial data and have made my work more efficient and impactful. What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?

Long learning curve

I understand that learning any new software can be daunting, especially for complex GIS applications like ArcGIS Pro. However, I'd like to address your concerns and provide some insights into my learning experience.

Initially, I, too, was concerned about the time it would take to learn ArcGIS Pro. Still, I found that the software's user-friendly interface, well-organized layout, and intuitive design made it easier for me to get started. The ribbon-based interface, similar to other popular software like Microsoft Office, provided a familiar environment that helped me quickly locate the necessary tools and functions.

Esri also offers a wealth of resources for new users, including tutorials, webinars, and online courses, which I found incredibly useful in speeding up my learning process. The ArcGIS community is also active and supportive, with forums, blogs, and user groups where you can ask questions and get guidance from experienced professionals.

While it's true that mastering all aspects of ArcGIS Pro may take some time, depending on your background and previous experience with GIS, the essential features can be grasped relatively quickly. By focusing on specific tasks and gradually expanding your knowledge, you'll be able to become proficient in using the software more efficiently.

In conclusion, while there is a learning curve to ArcGIS Pro, I believe the time invested in learning the software is well worth it, considering the powerful capabilities it offers in terms of data visualization, analysis, and overall GIS workflow improvement. What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm excited to share my experiences with the software while working on projects related to transportation and heritage management. ArcGIS Pro has proven to be an invaluable tool in tackling these diverse challenges and providing meaningful insights.

In the transportation project, where I analyzed and visualized train ticket sales in Sri Lanka, ArcGIS Pro allowed me to easily import data from various sources, such as spreadsheets, shapefiles, and geodatabases. I used the software's powerful geoprocessing tools to conduct spatial analyses and identify patterns in ticket sales, enabling me to visualize regional differences and highlight areas with high and low demand. This information was crucial in informing decision-makers about potential areas for investment and improvements in the country's railway infrastructure.

In the heritage management project, the Kurundi Vihara Project, ArcGIS Pro helped me visualize the distribution of archaeological sites across the region. By overlaying various data layers, such as elevation, land use, and hydrology, I was able to better understand the relationship between the sites and their surrounding environment. This comprehensive approach facilitated informed decision-making regarding site preservation, management, and future research.

In both projects, ArcGIS Pro's ability to handle complex data, conduct in-depth spatial analysis, and produce visually appealing maps significantly enhanced my problem-solving capabilities. The software's versatility and wide range of features made it an essential tool for addressing the unique challenges posed by transportation and heritage management projects. What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?

ArcPro is an improvement from ArcGIS Desktop and all-around excellent GIS software. Plenty of ready-to-use tools for geospatial analysis. Perfect modern look and feel and is just as powerful if not more than the desktop. Its cartographic abilities are lovely for creating good visual representations of data. Its integration with ArcGIS online is very well done and critical for our workflow. We use it for georeferencing historical maps, managing project databases, and creating figures for reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?

If you are coming from a Desktop environment, some are getting used to it and have a learning curve. As expected, it's a rather expensive program, and some tools available in the standard license that were in Desktop are not available in Pro. If you are a heavy user, you'll need to upgrade beyond the standard license or use Desktop with a pro. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are an archaeological firm working with multiple private and public entities. We use ArcPro for pre-field map setups using Field Maps. This includes creating databases with domains and hosting web features layer, creating offline areas, and managing project-based databases. We use Pro for post-field analysis and reports. We share data internally and externally using both packaged layers and hosted web maps and applications. In addition we do a lot of research and georeference historical maps.
