**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nimesh A. | Spatial Scientist, Research, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

ArcGIS has a modern and familiar interface which is quiet beginner friendly. ArcGIS pro has more tools compared to ArcMap for geospatial analysis and 3D visualization. More emphasis has been given toward the 3D visualization compared to ArcMap. ArcGIS has a easier way to create multiple layouts and save those for easy export. Easier to work with LiDAR data because of the tools and visualize capabilities. ArcGIS pro has advanced features to organize all the map Maps, Layouts and Scenes.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

ArcGIS has still certain things needs to be refined. There are certain bugs such as when I am trying to save a map it usually stuck on the default directory even though previously saved in different location. These bugs surely will be addressed by the future updates. Other thing is since I am well verse with the ArcMap I was quiet used to having each tool in same location which is usually a mussel memory. But due to the dynamic ribbon interface of ArcGIS, it is little bit frustrating until you get used to the dynamic nature of the ribbons and tools.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ArcGIS pro has been a important tool for mapping and spatial data analysis. Especially in the field of disaster management. I need to map the disaster prone areas and also map the historical data along with the rainfall pattern to understand the areas at risk of landslides. This is quiet powerful and capable software for any industry especially related to dealing with locations.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

If you are coming from a Desktop environment, some are getting used to it and have a learning curve. As expected, it's a rather expensive program, and some tools available in the standard license that were in Desktop are not available in Pro. If you are a heavy user, you'll need to upgrade beyond the standard license or use Desktop with a pro.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are an archaeological firm working with multiple private and public entities. We use ArcPro for pre-field map setups using Field Maps. This includes creating databases with domains and hosting web features layer, creating offline areas, and managing project-based databases. We use Pro for post-field analysis and reports. We share data internally and externally using both packaged layers and hosted web maps and applications. In addition we do a lot of research and georeference historical maps.

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

Works much faster than previous versions of the system. UI was improved and it is much better than the ArcGIS one. Allows for a lot of customization and functionality.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

Experienced problems with GeoEvent server services with having GeoEvent would crash some time. It also requires a little bit of learning to get familiar with the software.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This allows us to load faster imagery and also supports automatic Geofencing, a feature that helps us stay more productive. As a result, we could pull the data more efficiently and more accurately.

  ### 39. Useful for my job

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

I can customize a lot, the UI is better than the ArcGIS one. Working on a project with multiple maps and layouts helps me organize my information

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

The italian translation is not so accurate. Morover, I'm not able to use many of the tools of analysis because it's not possible to do that with my licence. Sometimes it crashes. It's not possible to load pdf files.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to organize in a smart way maps, payout, servers and geodatabase with their feature classes. The tags customization helps me to find the best graphic solution.

  ### 41. Keeps improving

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenna S. | Senior Research Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2021

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

The functionality and tools are great. Its much more user friendly than ArcMap as well as much faster. Tools that would take minutes to draw in ArcMap take only a few seconds in Pro.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

Transitioning from ArcMap to Pro is very time intensive and not self-intuitive. Its such a different design that it takes a lot of time to learn the new design and setup. Additionally, sometime it can be very confusing about where tools are located, although with every update it seems to be improved.

**Recommendations to others considering ArcGIS Pro:**

Take some time to watch the Esri help
Videos when making the transition from ArcMap. Since the programs are so different it really helps to familiarize with the interface.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ArcPro mainly for mapping and spatial analysis which is very helpful. ArcPro has been really grest to produce high quality beautiful maps that look much more higher quality than ArcMap.

  ### 42. Steep Learning Curve, But Worth The Effort

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris L. | Management Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

ArcGIS Pro is a great successor to the old software. When used with a discrete GPU, it's super fast. Importing data from Excel and CSV files is a lot less clunky now.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

The new licensing system is a bit confusing. Some features that you would think would be standard are only available with additional extensions like network analyst.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My usage of Pro is relatively basic compared to what other orgs use it for. I mostly make office territory maps by combining zipcode spreadsheets with ESRI provided zipcode polygons (which is really easy to do now) and I now combine that with performance metrics from other spreadsheets and/or SQL queries to create dynamic performance dashboards.

  ### 43. Not as easy to use as other Esri products, but it is still good

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth S. | S, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

I enjoy all Esri products. I like how this program looks aesthetically. The user interface is nice.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

I dislike that you cannot work out of ArcCataloge or drag and drop files from programs such as File Manager. You have to build a folder connection each time. This is inconvenient.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using ArcGIS Pro to create metadata for data that requires specific standards. It is easy to do; however, the program does not give any insight into what those formats require so additional research is still needed.

  ### 44. Non-profits benefit from using GIS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesus M. | Data Management Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2022

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

The ease of connecting to content on the ArcGis.com I've used ESRI products since back in teh arcmap/arcinfo programs and have watched the platform evolve.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

Spatial analysis is charged to your credits.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Great for visualizations and catagorizing our membership data as well as bringing in voter registration and election outcome data to match up with our membership

  ### 45. Migrating to Pro

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beverly C. | Program director , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2019

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

The upside about ArcGIS Pro is the integration with the Living Atlas. You have the millions of data point at your fingertips.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

What I dislike is that it has a similar look with ArcGIS Online.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identify target areas and at risk populations for public health interventions.

  ### 46. Much Needed Update to ArcMap

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2021

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

The user interface is greatly improved. A clean, more straightforward interface is more intuitive and makes it easier to find the tool you need.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

The power and amount of tools in GIS is your main limiting factor. It is still difficult to figure out how to use this program without proper training. However, that is often the case with powerful programs that have a great depth of tools.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am collecting publically available data to create base maps for architectural design projects. I am also analyzing data in order to determine contraints on development.

  ### 47. Upgrading from ArcMap..

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremiah S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2020

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

The software itself is much less prone to crashing and works more seamlessly. The layout function has been much improved and organization of various layouts are far easier than before. Though some features are still difficult to find, most of the features that were included with ArcMap are present in ArcGIS Pro in some way.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

The reorganization of the user interface has led to requiring more clicks to get the desired effect. Though only a minor inconvenience, getting used to the new UI could be a hassle for those that have become very familiar with ArcMap's layout.

**Recommendations to others considering ArcGIS Pro:**

Best to become familiar with the Pro as ESRI will shift all users from Map.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ArcMap is no longer being supported by ESRI and ArcGIS Pro will be the new replacement. The benefits to the Pro versus the Desktop Map are minor and really serves as a replacement. One positive thing we've noticed is that the Pro appears to run better on newer machines than the Map version.

  ### 48. Very powerful software tool for spatial analysis and data visualization.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2021

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

You can create maps and publish with gis online to the public.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

Can't work without internet
It a bit slower than Arcmap

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly used for city planning, large spatial data visualization and analysis.

  ### 49. New generation of the popular GIS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikolay G. | Graduate Research Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2020

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

It's a new, completely rewritten version of the popular GIS. I like the new modern user interface, where you could access all the 2D, 2D, and data management functionality from the single application and don't have to switch between the separate applications(ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcScene).

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

Some of the functionality present in the old 10.x lineup of the software is not present in the ArcGIS Pro.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly producing the printable maps and automating data processing workflows using the ArcGIS API for Python

  ### 50. Needs improvement as some geoprocessing tools available ArcMap are not available in ArcGIS Pro

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2020

**What do you like best about ArcGIS Pro?**

New user interface, new menus and new share options as well as improve online integration.

**What do you dislike about ArcGIS Pro?**

Missing geoprocessing tools and labeling is easy on previous version. They need to integrate all those so that client can only depends on ArcPro rather than having both versions.

**What problems is ArcGIS Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i am creating custom maps, integrating these maps online. I am using rest services to share these maps and geoprcessing tools.
