What do you like best about Amazon WorkMail?

AWS is absolutely killer in terms of presenting operational tools for businesses and doing based on internet RFCs. Out of the many services they provide, it is great that they have offerings that let businesses run virtually and securely. I can see great thought was used in creating the platform. Most of the services are for devops but 10% approx are useful business tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon WorkMail?

Different functions are in bad shape. Am not speaking from a developer standpoint and looking at business tools. AWS Workmail is great in its framework and reliability but whoever manages that product line is letting it flounder. The product has basic flaws in it. If you need to get fancy with SMTP configuration for outbound email control, forget it. Their SES interface and workmail outbound is useless. I need to specify outbound to Trendmicro Hosted filtering and AWS cant do it. they tried to give me a workaround that was about 50 steps on the AWS side, and then I had to double my licenses to trendmicro because part of the workaround was to create a mail. domain name. And my favorite so far is they do not have the ability to use DLists. You can create them but they fail if the DList has internal and external emails in it. They say they are working on it but 5 years into the release of the service and they can't even do a basic function that Off365 and Google easily handles. If you are going to provide competing services, they at least need the basics.... I have 13 companies managed under AWS WOrkmail. if nothing is done soon, I have to move them to Google... What do you like best about Amazon WorkMail?

If you use WorkMail with a desktop client like Outlook or Thunderbird, I think it will be fine for you. At this time, I've never had any problems using Mozilla Thunderbird, and it syncs fast.

Configuration was not a big problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon WorkMail?

The web client is far behind others like Gmail, Outlook, Fastmail, etc. For me, it's like it was from a decade ago. External email images often do not load (when using a desktop client, it is Ok).

In general, the web client seems slow and does not offer an easy way to accomplish anything. Managing contacts in the Address Book is not intuitive, and drag and drop sometimes do not work as expected.

There is no "Archive" button like in other email clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Amazon WorkMail?

Nothing really. Almost hard to believe that the most valuable tech company on this planet created this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon WorkMail?

1. Emails and replies appear as separate threads.

2. Sometimes emails disappear on their own.

3. Calendar/ Scheduling capabilities are atrocious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Amazon WorkMail?

Simple to use, clean interface and very fast. The web server responds quick and forwards over information submitted through contact forms on our website without fail. You can easily readjust the window size and collapse the leftside menu bar for a bigger viewing area. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon WorkMail?

If you're not technically savvy it may be difficult to setup but Amazon has great user guides with step by step help. I'd estimate someone with an IT background could set it up in as little as 15 minutes but could take up to an hour or more if you're not familiar with this type of work.

The other thing I dislike is that the preview pane is too small as it divides the screen almost in half, top and bottom. I believe you can set it up so the split is left and right but I haven't tried that yet. I also haven't seen a feature to put a custom skin or color on Workmail although the default green isn't too bad.

*EDIT - So I've switched the view to split the screen left to right and it is much better than top to bottom. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
