What do you like best about Align?

It is a no brainer to me that if you are adopting a scaling methodology, you should do it on a SaaS platform. The things that drew me to Align are:

1. Having somewhere central to capture the priorities of the company that is visible to everyone

2. The strategic planning framework

What do you dislike about Align?

Would like to see some more 3rd party integrations or a framework for doing that. Zapier is a good start but I would like more options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Align?

The integration to Salesforce is a little limited. I am tied to what the Salesforce reports can generate. Might need a dev or IT in Salesforce to improve it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Align?

The software is easy to use and completely intuitive, it's web-based so I can access it anywhere, anytime, and it always works. It keeps our key numbers and priorities visible to the team at all times, and when new team members join it's so easy to get them up to speed on all the essential information about our business. What do you dislike about Align?

Integrations and automation could be better, but new features are rolling out all the time. For example, there's a Slack integration, but not yet a Teams integration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Align solving and how is that benefiting you?

A number of years ago we decided to implement the Rockefeller Habits, and using Align was a huge part of getting the habits in and making them stick. We do quarterly and annual planning with our team, and Align is front and centre on those days. We use to to track all the critical numbers and priorities in the company, and to measure team performance. Our business has grown massively since we started using it. What do you like best about Align?

The Align software allowed me to keep a non-profit board accountable and engaged for the 2 years that I was President. It kept priorities front and Center. There is nowhere to hide with align Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Align solving and how is that benefiting you?

The problem to be solved is "Getting stuff done" So often on a non-profit board everyone can talk a good game, but when it comes to getting the high things done very few show up. What do you like best about Align?

Align's daily huddle feature is a central part of our business. We use it every day across all of the teams to make sure that everyone is focused. The tool helps communication and also increases accountability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Align?

There are few elements of the software we don't like. For a while, they didn't have an integration with Slack, which is our other main day to day communication tool. That has been resolved as they now have a great integration with Slack so I don't really have any constructive input to offer here. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Align:

Make sure that you are committed to the ideas behind the software first. That is, the software is great, but if you're not committed to improving your focus by narrowing your priorities and opening up communication, the tool won't help you much. The tool is a great way to implement methodologies like Scaling Up/Rockefeller Habits, EOS, etc, and can be used without one of those specific methodologies. However, if you're not committed to the ideas of a narrow set of priorities and clear and open communication it might not be a fit. Align does provide really good onboarding services as part of their service fee that helps people implement these ideas within their business and they are also partnered with several great coaching organizations who can help further. However, it is critical that you want to do these things to get the most out of this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Align solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use the One Page Plan to set as clear set of priorities and reinforce our cultural purpose and values. We use the team planning tools to ensure each that all areas of the organization are in sync with those annual and quarterly priorities. What do you like best about Align?

What I loved about Align is that it provided an easy to use status reporting tool that accommodated leadership's goal of having instant visibility into daily activities and priorities, how well they tied to weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual goals. Align is a very easy to use (both in data entry and retrieval) which was helpful for those of us working in high complexity problem solving capacities 24/7. When you live in complexity, you don't want to work with complex tools for standard reporting and management activities that are required daily. It was always nice to start the day with a straightforward tool like Align. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Align?

There is not much that I really dislike per se, the only concern I would note is that the version of Align we used as part of organizational strategy allowed a great deal of free text entries (as opposed to pre-set categorized drop down entries). I understand the intent was for management to review the raw inputs so they could have meaningful insight into the truth of daily operational activities - specifically, to identify misaligned activities that were causing kinks in the production flow. The only problem with free text entry is that it can quickly become so non-uniform that the ability to pull data and trending/analytics, etc. is diluted with the presence of so many non-standard entries that require individual deciphering to glean the actual trend. Recommendations to others considering Align:

Because free text entry is an option in Align, it would be good to identify prior to release to the company, what categories and tracking attributes are most valuable to the organization; you want to make sure the free text entry option is defined enough to ensure you don't get very long narratives that require constant deciphering; similarly, you want to ensure you don't get too simplistic entries that don't give the real insights you're looking for (basically, the free text entries allow very long entries, or allow people to kind of skip through it without putting much of anything in the tool. Neither extreme serves the purpose of the tool, and the goal of collecting meaningful insights into the tool). To ensure ROI on the Align software, determine KPI's on the front end, and work with managers to ensure consistency in daily entry on behalf of all users entering data. What problems is Align solving and how is that benefiting you?

The company invested in Align to assess where the gaps in alignment existed across the organization; the company had exponential growth in a very short time, growth they weren't really prepared for from an infrastructure/organizational strategy perspective. Also, portfolio focused (global minded) strategic management did not arrive until after the growth explosion; so we had a lot of skilled folks in the production floor that had tons of insight into the tactical aspects of the day to day business, but were so focused on tactical that the strategic goals and oversight of strategic goals were getting lost in the mix. Align was purchased to provide a simple tool for ALL employees to enter daily tasks, so management could analyze the inputs and identify opportunities for compression, gaps, workload redundancies, overages, etc. and make strategic level recommendations to help better align the organization long term.
