Linode is one of the best VPS providers on the market. They have multiple datacenters throughout the world, and their support is very responsive! I usually experienced 1 'bigger' (which means < 10 mins) downtime a year, which was mostly caused by some power failure. It's very easy to manage & to set up.

It's affordable, scalable, and reliable. I also love that they have data centers spread out across the United States so we can become geographically diverse pretty easily - and quickly. Launching off a new node or upgrading existing nodes is really easy and you would be hard pressed to find a more cost effective solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You really need to be a developer to use this solution. The learning curve is that of a sysadmin. If you cannot work in command line then you will probably have trouble with Linode. Their admin isn't sexy but it gets the job done. It really has the look and feel of an IT product in that respect. I don't like that they do not have their own server management software in place. It doesn't have to be cPanel but they certainly need something better than what they have if they want to appeal to the maximum number of potential customers out there. I really love how Linode is well priced. Since I started using them, they have increased the amount of memory that you get with each box and are constantly improving their service. I also had the misfortune recently of misplacing my 2nd factor authentication, and their support was extremely helpful in aiding me to recover my account. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The web portal definitely feels dated. Despite all of the awesome services they offer, this is one area where they definitely need improvement. That being said, they have made improvements since I started using the site, and it does provide all of the information you need. I've been Linode customer for 5 years with a dozen of servers - I love the fact that they give away free upgrades every year, SSD, double RAM, more CPU, etc.
Who doesn't want free upgrades?
