Linode/Akamai Connected Cloud provides a simple path for individuals and businesses to add cloud services. It is easy to right-size the compute and storage options to create public or semi-private services. The web portal makes management a straightforward process, much more so than many competitors in this space. Akamai comes with good options to access and tune each VM. We were able to spin up a Nextcloud VM that allowed us to share data with a third party untrusted manufacturing partner. It only took a couple of minutes to be up and running. There's a ton of helpful documentation, support, and community around linode/Akami. I'm a game developer and especially in the indie game sphere, linode/Akami is well-reputed and reliable. I've never had issues with servers being down, the data is incredibly easy to read and monitor, and the prices have no real competition.

Setting up our server took almost zero effort and we had it ready to test our games within minutes. You can also really customize how different elements work together and what services you want to have. How much storage, your RAM, so on. Only once did we contact support and it was just to get the version of something they were using, which was easily available. Integrating any features we needed was also easy and simple.

I have been using Linode frequently for the past two years, and I appreciate how easy it is to set up and manage servers. If I had to find something I don’t like, it would be that some support agents weren’t always able to help me, especially when I was a victim of DDoS attacks. I like the ease of use with the ability to quickly implement and setup our VMs, Load-Balancers, Kubernetes and VPC/Networks at a fixed price. I do like it more than the other cloud providers from an initial startup price because the prices are much better and we are not overrun with ancillary costs. I would like Akamai/Linode to provide more features to their cloud offering, for example, by providing the consumer with the ability to monitor the VMs performance level and security status (an enhanced virtual dashboard). I like the affordability of Akamai. When I was looking for a cloud server to use, I found one to automate data ingestion which was costing about $800 to the company. It's simple and cheap. You can create a virtual machine in just 1 or 2 minutes it gives you the ip address and root password then just ssh it. For 1gb ram 25 gb storage and 1 core cpu machine is just 5$ a month and it's cheaper than its alternatives.
