I have been using Linode frequently for the past two years, and I appreciate how easy it is to set up and manage servers. Their platform is user-friendly, making deployment and configuration straightforward, even for complex projects. Integration with other tools and services is seamless, allowing me to set up my environment efficiently. If I had to find something I don’t like, it would be that some support agents weren’t always able to help me, especially when I was a victim of DDoS attacks. Our company uses Akamai Connected Cloud all the time. What I appreciate most is their extensive network of data centers worldwide, which allows us to quickly deploy servers close to our target customers. Now that they’re part of Akamai, their peering policy ensures excellent connectivity to ISPs around the globe. The API integration is also seamless, making it easy to spin up new servers whenever our services require extra "power." The only drawback is in the API. I wish there were a field to assign a custom unique ID when creating a new instance, allowing for easier removal later. In my use case, instances often delete themselves after completing their tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Using Linode to set up a VPS for web hosting or other cloud computing is extremely simple and quick. A wide variety of hardware configurations are available and pricing for each is transparent. Deciding is made easier by the wealth of documentation, both on the product page and Akami techdocs documentation pages.

The Linode marketplace is an excellent way to deploy servers and saves time installing and configuring applications. I used it to deploy a Wordpress instance in under 10 minutes.

I would say pricing is a little higher than some other large hosting companies - although many of these have a limited amount of datacenter locations to choose from. I think the Akami / Linode branding and merging is a little confusing, as some things show as and have to be accessed through Linode, and some show as Akami.

Akamai is obviously still making investments in the platform. It's significant that they frequently release new features and integrations. I appreciate that the platform is developing and that, when my needs change, I'll have access to the newest tools and technologies. To be honest, I've been a little confused by the whole Linode-to-Akamai situation. While things seem to be settling down now, there was a period where it felt like things were in flux. Just a little bit of a bumpy ride during the transition, and I'm hoping things are more stable now. It would be beneficial to have more precise communication regarding the long-term goal. In fact, the documentation is useful when I do have a problem, which is not often. It is thorough, well-written, and searchable. In addition, the community forums are lively and teeming with helpful individuals. It's wonderful to know that I can quickly get back on track if I run into problems thanks to the resources offered. Even if they're making improvements, they're still lagging behind the industry titans like AWS and Azure in some areas. In particular, some of the more specialized or sophisticated cloud services aren't as developed or all-inclusive. It is quick and easy to deploy linodes, hosted k8s clusters, hosted DB services and node balancers quickly and easily using integration tools like OpenTofu. Our app deploys multiple times per day with git actions, and we couldnt be happier with our argocd setup. Support was quick to help with the few issues we've run into. The VPC offerings are still a bit young, but growing. It would be nice to have route table control (for our interoffice VPN setup), internal only managed k8s and db services. it would be nice to have managed or canned firewall rules to block connection from nefarious sources. Linode is very affordable and simple to use compared to using other cloud providers. The dashboard is quite good and regarding performance, Linode was consistently better than competitors, especially in handling loads according to benchmark tests. Linode's built-in resource monitoring is pretty basic. Hence I mostly use external tools for deeper insights as my infrastructure scales. The web-based terminal can be flaky due to locale settings, so direct SSH access is what I normally use. Linode's upfront, transparent pricing allows you to instantly guage the costs of your projects. This is particularly useful when collaborating with businesses who are sceptical of the cost of cloud technology, and has enabled us to ease these nerves, whilst providing a service that is equal class to other IaaS providers. Linode does fit my business's needs in the exact ways other providers do not. However, the range of products available does not yet match the likes of Azure, AWS etc.

I had never use any hosting service before. Linode was the first cloude service that I tried (after my friend told me about it) and I think I never needed to find any other clouded service. Setting up servers were easy, and also maintaining them. Also pricing is very simple and easy to calculate unlike other services which complicates the pricing.
