I like that Nielsen is the currency for both television and radio (audio) ratings. I also like the fact that Nielsen has quite a few divisions which provide clients with an option to access additional information and do surveys to discover additional insights. Nielsen is a most reactive company. They are not proactive and rarely are ahead of the curve. Nielsen consistently tries to sell its Scarborough data even though it is not MRC accredited and our repeated stance that we will not buy it until such time that it is. When Nielsen presents an overview of the consumer attitudes as a result of COVID, they virtually ignore African Americans, Hispanics, and other races/ethnicities. Providing demographic information for 18-34, 18-49, and occasionally 25-54 is excellent for the general market. Providing only 12+ for African Americans and Hispanics is not. When clients request the African American and Hispanic data, Nielsen either can't offer it (due to the limited size of its survey) or it takes entirely too much time to get the data. Currently, we rely on traditional and of that most SVOD viewership is not taken into account.
