It's really difficult for content editors to upload and find images - a pretty core CMS function.
Template creation is really clunky and requires a pretty experienced Crownpeak developer. A .NET dev can eventually pick it up but the lack of documentation and community resources severely limits on-boarding new devs.

There is no support for minification, bundling, SCSS processing, or other modern dev tools
Only Visual Studio 2015 is supported for their Crownpeak Desktop Connection (CDC)
If you want live code to run on the server, you need to do some pretty hacky things - like writing C# that writes C# that can run live. Yuck.
No databases of any kind. This means that if you have any JavaScript applications you have to write out JSON and publish that. So you'll have a disconnected recordset somewhere - probably in a Spreadsheet - that you'll need to export to JSON and upload to Crownpeak.
Publishing and keeping JavaScript app source, as well as page-level custom HTML/CSS is a hack.
Only allows for outdated .NET webforms (no MVC - though CP might say otherwise)

Crownpeak does a very good job of compartmentalising sections of a website, and letting you control what content goes where, what widgets and code snippets, etc. We work with clients that need to pump out similar sites with variations, and its easy to make a very reactive template that you select which component you want from a dropdown, and the fields appear below to be published. In a lot of ways, Crownpeak feels unfinished. It is a little laggy to work with, especially with huge files. Similarly, a lot of aspects of source control that seem standard and like they should be implemented as a standard(various things that git do) (or even a git integration, come to think of it), don't exist and can cause issues. Crownpeak can also feel too ambitious, such as their own take at a serializer. It serialises json differently than the built in C# Visual Studio serializer which, to me, seems more standard, and it deals with ASCII characters differently. Poor performance in many respects--saving files in Visual Studio, saving components in the component library. Visual Studio extension has bugs, including that there's no syntax highlighting for my computer. Component editor doesn't have syntax highlighting or anything along those lines. In my opinion it should be possible to define templates via configuration, or declaratively, rather than imperatively. The documentation is lacking in examples and in some cases is simply wrong. We implemented Crownpeak in the past year. They have a severe resource constraint in their professional services department. Unless you have an in-house developer, and maybe even then, it is very difficult to execute on changes to templates, reporting, personalization, etc. in a timely manner.
