Best Software for 2025 is now live!

Why don't you sell snagit for free to users.

Snagit should be free and easily available for more usage and marketing.

Their price point isn't that bad for the features included. When it comes to needing to be able to produce quick screen recordings narrated and on the fly, and have a quick upload to a shareable link, they are amazing. They don't charge for Screencast.com for the hosting on the videos unless you're requiring much more storage and bandwidth.

a) Because you can't "sell" something for free. b) because development, and support, from a business, cost money. Would you rather have SnagIt attempt to get its money through in-app advertising, selling your contact info, etc? c) I use SnagIt for business/professional activities (and some personal stuff) and consider that the tech support I get, by web, email and phone has more than justified paying the modest purchase price. d) If you are a Windows user, Microsoft's built-in Snipping Tool, along with PrintScreen, may handle your needs. Neither of these do one of the key tasks I use SnagIt for, namely, capturing a scrolling window.

SnagIt is a more robust relative of TechSmith's free photo-editing application, Jing. You can download and use Jing for free, but SnagIt is only available at a cost. Here's the link to download Jing: https://www.techsmith.com/jing-tool.html

The free version is called hitting the "Print Screen" button ;). If you want to edit and do things, then you pay for extra features. Or, use a photo editing software like Gimp to edit the screenshot you just took with the built in feature on windows
