# What benefit does Matter bring to my team culture?

Matter is an easy-to-use and effective bottoms-up approach to workplace recognition and company culture - all inside Slack or Microsoft Teams. 

Research shows (Gallup) employees who don’t feel recognized are 2x as likely to quit their job within a year. Also, according to SHRM, 62% of employees are not happy with the recognition they already receive.

As a result, the goal of Matter is to help empower teams to celebrate their wins while decreasing employee turnover and increasing employee engagement, all in a fun and easy way.
