## Shotcut Reviews
  ### 1. Shotcut delivers what I need for efficient video editing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul B. | Customer Experience Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

Shotcut has become my preferred video editor for quick projects and content creation workflows. Its interface is intuitive, and it supports most video formats seamlessly. I particularly value that it's free and open-source, yet still offers professional features such as multi-track editing, a variety of filters, and reliable export options. For the kind of editing I need, Shotcut accomplishes everything efficiently without unnecessary complexity or costly subscriptions. I can quickly apply video actions, edit, export, and have my project ready, simple as that. There are weeks when I use it daily, but even on quieter weeks, I rely on Shotcut at least a couple of times.

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

At times, the interface seems somewhat outdated when compared to more modern editors, and achieving some advanced effects or transitions can require extra effort. Preview playback may occasionally lag with larger files, but it has never been enough to disrupt my workflow entirely.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Shotcut provides me with dependable video editing tools, all without the expense or steep learning curve of high-end software. I’m able to trim, organize, and export my videos smoothly, which helps me maintain the workflow I require for my content. For everyday editing needs, it’s an ideal solution that doesn’t strain my budget.

  ### 2. Shotcut review: 4K editing without headache

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

Shotcut is the video editor which I work with 4K footage smoothly due to its GPU rendering support. It has an interface geared towards facilitating a very practical editing experience and a plurality of materials and step–by–step guides are also available online to help absolve most of the problems encountered during editing.

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

It offers essential effects such as transitions and filters, but I would like to see a broader and more diverse collection that allows for more creative and customizable montages.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to Shotcut I can make beautiful montages with a considerable number of tools that allow for professional results. This helps me to improve my academic content and create more dynamic materials while spending less time than I used to spend on editing.

  ### 3. A Free tool to edit your videos. But you need to know your way around it

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

1. Completely free software
2. Uses the standard ffmpeg codecs. So, its very compatible with any version of Windows (i am a Windows user)
3. It Comes with a timeline editor. very intuitive to use
4. Save your video preferences to work fast.
5. Surprisingly lightweight considering the range of options it presents

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

1. Very little to dislike. Since its a free software, you do not have much support in any event of data corruption
2. When you are working with multiple video tracks. sometimes the filters won't get applied in the final render.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Most common video work that i do requires me to add intros and outros to a video
2. I have saved the shotcut projects which can be vary easily imported to any video
3. I also created some templates for the title cards and was able to use them modularly.

  ### 4. I used it for simple tiktok videos and it had all the features I wanted from clipping to chroma key

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prabhakar K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

I can easily add transition by overlapping two clips. After clipping a clip, I can extend it, also. The main advantage was its quality control during export. Compared with capcut it could add auto subtitle feature.

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

You should have prior knowledge of color grading to be able to use the color grading feature in shotcut. It doesnot have samples video where we can add video and it returns properly edited video.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Small file size and can run on low-end pc and laptops giving smooth experience to everyone. It even makes editing more interesting as you can create lots of things using simple features like chroma key, size, etc.

  ### 6. Basic Video Editing Made Easy with Free & Open Source Shotcut Video Editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ridham S. | Business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

- I can export high-quality video up to 4K easily.
- There are too many editing features like making overlays, blur effect, correcting fish eye effect, etc.
- Their support is very cooperative and very quick to solve our doubts.

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

- There is limited transition so I can do basic video editing only in Shotcut.
- Their user interface is too old and a little bit tricky to understand and use.
- I can't able to upload external subtitle files.

**Recommendations to others considering Shotcut:**

If you are not able to buy premium video editing software like Adobe Premium and Camtasia, then I think this is the best free alternative to them. I really appreciate their all features and I really like their all features. It is very easy to use software and free to use so anyone can use it without paying any extra charges. I highly recommend Shotcut to use for basic video editing work. If you want to work at an advanced level then Shotcut is not for you.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- It helps me to edit videos quickly for my clients.
- I can make a basic slideshow very quickly without any difficulty and then submit it to the client.

  ### 7. Great Video Editor For My Needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamila J. | n/a, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

I used to use Window Movie Maker, and once that was discontinued, I wanted something that was intuitive to use but also gave me more control as I became an increasingly sophisticated user of the program. Shotcut does exactly that. When I want to make something simple, it allows me to do that. And when I want to utilize the more complicated features, I'm able to do that as well.

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

It would be helpful to have more on-screen guidance regarding export formats. Sometimes, I'm not 100 percent sure which video format is best for my needs beyond knowing which is best for uploading to YouTube.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've learned how to control how video and sounds fade in and out with increasing specificity, which I appreciate. There are so many ways to customize videos that I have yet to really scratch the surface, which is exciting. I look forward to my continued use of Shotcut and learning all of its features.

  ### 8. Best free software for all Videography

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pankaj P. | Video Grapher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

The best part of the Shotcut software is that it is free. We don't have to pay anything, and we can edit the professional type of videos. There are many features such as applying filters, audio editing, and whatnot. It has all the features which any paid software has. Also, it is lightweight. A PC with the configuration of i3 and 4GB RAM can easily handle this software.

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

Nothing as such in the software. But it has ads on its website, which is very annoying. Also, It is free but if you download it from any app store it will cost you some 7$.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Shotcut for editing videos, news reports for my company. I am also editing videos by putting them on two screens that Shotcut supports very professionally without any glitch.

  ### 9. Shotcut: Excellent, Free & Advance All in One Video Editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Preet C. | UI/UX Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

The most thing I like about Shotcut is, It is free to use and there are no charges like other software. Its UI is very interactive and easy to use so that anyone who is new on Shotcut can make videos easily. It can be used for basic as well as advanced video editing work. Thier autosave feature is very useful and so that we don't have to worry about our project file when its crash or lag.

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

Everything is fine in Shotcut but one thing that I don't like most is, the absence of pre-made templates inside Shotcut. If they provide pre-made templates then it will be good for all users to work on projects by spending less time.

**Recommendations to others considering Shotcut:**

I would like to recommend Shotcut because it is completely free to use and very easy to use as well. you can make high-quality videos up to 4K inside Shotcut. It is a very advance and powerful video editor that can be used for any type of video editing. If you are a freelancer or video editor then definitely you should try once.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Shotcut solves the below problems in my business:

1) It helps me to create long youtube videos without any lagging or crashing.
2) It helps me to create better quality videos for my clients.
3) I can work with any type of format and can make any type of video format according to different platforms.

  ### 10. Shotcut Is A "Made-For-All" Video Editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher K. | Marketing Project Manager, Food Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Shotcut?**

Shotcut is free all the way, yet I still have access to all the features I need for my YouTube videos which I create and upload nearly every day.
It runs well on both my high power and my less powerful computer.
Having edited over 50 videos for my YouTube channel using Shotcut, I don't know why I should get a more advanced and expensive video editor yet.
It has a very short and user-friendly learning curve on essential features. The available tutorial videos are excellently presented and easy to follow. Hence I edited one full YouTube video on the very first day I acquired Shotcut.
Very good for a beginner and a low budget video editor.

**What do you dislike about Shotcut?**

Shotcut has no option for exporting to YouTube and Social media. This causes a delay at times when I am in a hurry to beat some YouTube prime posting time because I first have to export to my computer and then upload to YouTube. The time thus wasted can be a lossdifficult torecover.

**What problems is Shotcut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since Shotcut runs at my desired time, I can produce three videos per day for my YouTube channel. That has helped my channel to grow faster than I anticipated to nearly 300,000 views in two months and adding at least ten subscribers per day. Since I have manetised my YouTube channel, the views translate into steady sales from my affiliate programs every week. Add to that the fact that Shotcut is free and you know I am in profit!
