I've been utilizing it for a few years but the stars of the show are truly the customer service team. I wish I had been reaching out to them more to help me when I couldn't figure how to best represent my vision with the Shogun app. James and Alex were truly helpful, easy to communicate with, and efficient. I look forward to interacting with the Shogun team again soon. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** Sometimes, the built preview of the pages are quite what it looks like live, though this could be my inexperience as a self taught graphic designer. Now that I am interacting with the customer service team more regularly, I can ask for help when I see discrepancies. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** Shogun benefits us with it's ease of use and speedy updates to our site. ### 2. Sections and elements are fully customizable and you can even add raw HTML and Javascript if needed as well as support for custom classes. Its hard to grab elements sometimes if they are stacked without spacing. Overall it is intuitive and easy to use especially with the addition of "Show Drop zones" toggle and Layout view. Customer support is fast and very helpful, Integrations are plenty and Images are optimized when uploaded to the page. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** With the addition of features on shogun the backend feels slow and sometimes you need to clear cache or relogin to refresh shogun tokens especially when you switch from store to store. Price - Shogun might be too much for some businesses especially if you are using the sync feature since you need to be on the highest plan per store to use it. I would also love if we can have a features toggle on shogun itself se we can declutter the UI if we are not using them (ex. A/B testing) and potentially make the backend load even faster. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** Shopify's editor lacks flexibility, making it difficult for most users to create varied landing pages and promotions. This often requires editing theme files and hiring developers, potentially slowing down your site due to varied code insertions. ### 3. He reccommeded Shogun and used the platform to create a more robust version of my site. Because I only contracted him for a short period of time, I've been updating the sections he created here and there when necessary. It's been going fine until I royally messed something up and completly deleted a very important "shogun section." I reached out in panic to support and they came through in a big way. Support went above and beyond to restore the section I accidentily deleted and gave me instructions on how to update and publish the sections in the future (teach a man to fish approch...). I am so incredibly grateful for the support team and for them going the extra mile to save a small business owner who is very unfamilar with code or building a website. I'm a fan for life! **What do you dislike about Shogun?** Sometimes I get a little frusterated with the functionality when trying to build or edit a section. It's like I know what I want it to look like but have a hard time finding the features that will ultimatly make it look like how I want. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Shopify as my webhost but needed features outside the theme's offered on Shopify. ### 4. I was stuck on something that I couldn't figure out. Sent an email over to the team and they replied very quickly and their advice worked perfectly. Highly recommend. Special thanks to Sweetan! **What do you dislike about Shogun?** I don't like how when trying to edit mobile view, the edits also change on desktop view. The testing features have gotten better and better and they are constantly making improvements such as segmenting and personalization. We now use personalization logic to easily schedule multiple sales in advance which was not possible before. Customer Service is helpful and implementation was fairly easy. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** The interface isn't the easiest to use if you have custom elements. Sometimes complex manual styling is necessary for creating mobile-optimized. There are some limitations, such as scheduling top banners, product badges, etc. It would be nice to schedule all promotional elements in one place, but that's more of a BigCommerce flaw. There are some features only available at the highest tier which can be pricey. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** BigCommerce does not allow homepage updates to be scheduled for promotions. ### 6. Especially when you learn it and use the Help Desk to its full potential. We have created landing pages, blogs and we are currently re-designing our homepage using Shogun due to its easy to use drag and drop features that almost anyone can use. Being able to have a wireframe from our designer and implement it to almost exactly what they are after with little to no code has streamlined the way we are able to quickly pivot our sites exactly when we need to. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** The 1 thing that I have not liked is just some of the basic things like sometimes the page may render odd on the front end and I've had to contact customer service to get a code snippet at times to fix some issues for landing pages; but honestly their customer service is also what makes it so god with fast and hassle free responses. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** In the past we have had to engage developers to code our homepage as we could never use the native page builders to get exactly what we want, and of course there are still limitations to Shogun, however we can get it looking almost to what our designer asks us to ceate without much fuss or need for extra code. ### 8. Snippets is my favourite feature, where you can save whole blocks and paste them in other areas & pages. Overall really user friendly, and love the drag & drop functionality. The support team are amazing - they will screen record (in real time) solutions to your problems which is super efficient and helpful when trying to troubleshoot. Would really reccommend! **What do you dislike about Shogun?** The only downside I would flag is sometimes the spacing & formatting of blocks across multiple screens/devices can be tricky to navigate, but once you get the hang of it it's pretty straightforward. Would recommend looking at the free templates and blocks from the library to see how spacing & formatting has been used. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's a fantastic solution for page building - best on the market. ### 9. There are many features and support is there for you. I had placed a ticket and it was answered within 30 minutes directly answering my question in great detail to the point I thought it was solved. But I had a weird interaction because of my own issue. Support solved the problem for me and showed me how to fix it in the future. Honestly the best experiance I've had. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** The price is high but it's a valuable service. I only hope that the cheapest $39 Tier doesn't become more restrictive. **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm using shogun to build my product pages and to add flare to my home page. It makes editing so much nicer and cleaner. I can use the fonts that aren't included in shopify without an extra extension and things run great. ### 10. Fast responses from the customer support team if I have any questions. Detailed answers and recordings to show how to change or apply specific elements for desktop and mobile. **What do you dislike about Shogun?** Nothing at this stage - only thing is there is not a TikTok social icon which we would love to include. Feedback passed onto the team :) **What problems is Shogun solving and how is that benefiting you?** Don't need to understand code to build customised pages for desktop and mobile.
