## SciNote Reviews
  ### 1. Helpful Platform with Exceptional Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

At I Peace, Inc., we are focused on advancing iPSC technology through both contract biopharmaceutical manufacturing for iPSCs and iPSC-derived cell therapy products, as well as personalized iPSC banking services. Our broader goal is to help alleviate patient suffering globally and to support the development of cell therapy technologies. In my role as Quality Manager and administrator for the SciNote platform, I oversee platform-related activities including user and inventory management, workflow progression, review and approval steps, and support for team members during routine use.

SciNote plays an important role in how we manage our QC activities. The platform’s project, experiment, and task structure allows us to organize work in a clear and consistent way, which has been especially helpful for managing multiple parallel activities. Because SciNote is fully cloud-based, it also supports collaboration across our different working locations. We have facilities in Palo Alto, California and Kyoto, Japan, and I support the platform remotely from San Diego, California. This setup has made it possible for our teams to stay connected and maintain visibility over ongoing work. The 21 CFR Part 11-compliant e-signature function has also been a valuable feature, helping us support compliant review and approval workflows across sites.

In addition to QC testing management, we also use SciNote to support several quality system functions, including protocol revision and approval, training and proficiency documentation, management of deviations and corrective actions, CAPAs, and change controls. These workflows were built within SciNote using protocol templates, and this approach has allowed us to centralize several quality activities within one platform. For our organization, this has been a practical way to support quality oversight while staying mindful of resources. Another feature that has been especially useful for our team is the ability to work in both English and Japanese, which helps support communication and collaboration between our US and Japan facilities.

Our experience with SciNote support has been very positive. The team has been responsive, helpful, and easy to work with, and our customer success manager has been attentive to both routine questions and more complex issues. When challenges arise, the SciNote team is generally quick to help troubleshoot and provide next steps or practical workarounds so that our operations can continue smoothly. We also appreciate that they actively gather customer feedback and continue improving the platform over time. The webinars and listening sessions they offer have also been helpful for learning more about the system and sharing user perspectives. Overall, SciNote has been a useful tool for supporting our quality operations and facilitating collaboration across our organization.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The biggest downside to SciNote is the early stage of development of the site. It is well rounded and usable for many cases, but a lot of features are still being added and built out.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote helps us by providing an electronic format to generate our technical lab procedures and complete them with electronic signatures. SciNote is also helping us generate reports which can be shared internally or with outside clients.

  ### 2. Scinote Streamlined Our R&D Collaboration and eQMS Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2026

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

We have been very happy with Scinote. As cell therapy developers producing clinical products, we needed our R&D team to work in parallel and co-manage experimental notebooks across multiple researchers, including Process Development and Quality Control. It was also critical for our operational efficiency to integrate smoothly with our eQMS, so we could associate data files with experimental pages in a way that supported the transition into batch and test records. Scinote provided these telescoping capabilities and helped us generate development and analysis reports that could be referenced within the eQMS to support eventual regulatory submissions.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Setting up and learning how to operate a new system always takes more time than I’d like.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Efficient team managed ELN that is easily reviewable by others.

  ### 3. A reliable and flexible ELN for labs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

SciNote has made our documentation process more efficient, enhanced our ability to collaborate, and supported us in developing our lab automation workflows.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Getting accustomed to the platform can be a bit challenging initially, particularly for those who are new to it. Certain aspects seem somewhat rigid, and I would appreciate having greater flexibility when it comes to editing or customizing tasks. Additionally, I’ve noticed that working on larger projects can cause the platform to slow down somewhat.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote has been instrumental in helping us centralize and organize our lab documentation, leading to fewer errors and significant time savings. A key advantage for us has been the platform's capability to build and structure our automation workflows.

  ### 4. Effortless Project Tracking, But Occasional Saving Issues

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valinda J. | Research Associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Easy to track different projects. Easily organized and can search something that I am looking for quickly. I love that I can refer to other notebooks for reference. I use it daily and can show other researchers easily how to use and manage it.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

It doesn't save my information always. I like that it restores draft but sometimes it doesn't at all.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't need to use a laboratory notebook unless I have to weigh out tapes.

  ### 5. My SciNote Experience

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** tomas W. | Lab Tech, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

What I like best about SciNote is its clear project structure—it lets you organize experiments, tasks, and protocols in a logical, easy-to-navigate way. This makes it simple to keep track of data and progress, especially when working on complex or collaborative research. The built-in compliance features are also a big plus for regulated environments.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

What I dislike about SciNote is that it can be a bit clunky when working with certain file types, especially Excel—uploads or integrations aren’t always smooth. Also, the interface, while generally user-friendly, can feel a bit slow or unintuitive in more advanced workflows. It’s not a dealbreaker, but there’s definitely room for refinement.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote solves several key problems in lab work: disorganized data, poor collaboration, and lack of compliance tracking. By centralizing all experiments, protocols, and results in one place, it makes it easier to stay organized and ensures that nothing gets lost. The collaboration tools help teams stay on the same page, and the built-in compliance features (like audit trails and electronic signatures) are essential for meeting regulatory requirements. For me, this has meant less time spent hunting for files and more confidence in the integrity and traceability of my work

  ### 6. Very Responsive Support and an Excellent Development Team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2026

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Very responsive support team. Excellent development team. Great customer support reachout.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

It is expensive (although not the most expensive, and the team were supportive with regards to discount options in the early stages), and I work in different labs that use different software solutions. Life would be easier if everyone used SciNote.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inventory management. Sample tracking.

  ### 7. Robust organizational tools

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob F. | Scientist II, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Scinote allows for very detailed organization of projects and experiments. I appreciate the breakdown of broader projects, to experimental goals, to tasks within the experiments. I've found this to be a helpful way to organize my workflow. The search function is also super helpful in finding experiments I need to review. Within each task the ease of putting all the data generated by an experiment simplified our data storage and gave us the ability store a wide variety of data types.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Our work involves chemical drawing structures and SciNote lacks native chemical structure implementation. It requires a separate license. The table function is also a little bit clunky and difficult to resize.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our work generated very desperate data types. Mass spec, NMR, imaging, chromatography, etc. SciNote allowed us to store all these types of data within the experiment from which they were generated. This simplified our work flow and made it much easier to find information from different sources. Helping us with grant writing and summarizing our work for internal and external meetings.

  ### 8. It is a user-friendly tool for lab digitization.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rawan A. | Lab Scientist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Stock management is highly effective and fully customizable.
Documentation processes are smooth and efficient.
Easily integrates with other tools, such as Microsoft Office.
Lab members can plan their days/weeks using SciNote
Support staff are helpful and friendly.
Open to client feedback and new ideas.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Navigation between tasks could be more seamless.
Editing items in the inventory could be more streamlined.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote was purchased primarily to solve two key challenges:

Documenting Lab Experiments and Results: SciNote has streamlined our documentation process, making it more organized and accessible, which has been a significant improvement since we began using it.

Reducing Manual Data Transfer: Initially, transferring data from the lab to our database required substantial manual effort. With some optimization, SciNote has helped automate much of this process, ultimately providing an efficient solution.

These improvements have saved us time, minimized errors, and allowed us to focus more on research and analysis.

  ### 9. Secure Digital Lab Notebook

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Scinote is a digital and safe way to record my lab data and protocols.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Sometimes is difficult to link different pages.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like that it is online, so I can access scinote in any place.

  ### 10. Traceable, but infuriating

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

The traceability of SciNote, being able to see who's made changes, and when is very useful. Also being able to return to older experiments on a day-to-day basis to pull up details has been vital in the lab when experiments have needed to be repeated with slight tweaks. We use SciNote everyday, and haven't had any issues with implementing it into our schedules, for easy to use documentation.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Formatting is quite difficult at times - particularly when it comes to tables and table editing. Whether it be copy pasting tables from other documents (e.g. Word), or trying to make changes to ones inserted in SciNote, it is very difficult to get a table that not only looks good, but also performs the necessary function of displaying information in a compact manner.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote has made inventory tracking easier, particularly with comments, so we know where specific components can be tracked, whether they have been handed off to another team/department, or moved to a new location in the lab.
It has also made keeping a Lab Notebook easier, and saves time, as writing is minimised, and instead, experiment details are typed up, and easily changed as required - but as always are always traceable, to ensure that any changes can be asked about directly to the person who made them.

  ### 11. Sci-Note is a very helpful tool utilized by my company for organizing information.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Alternative Medicine | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Sci-Note helps my company organize groups of inventories very well. It was very easy to learn to use when starting my job, as I had not used Sci-Note at any previous employers. I use it daily and it makes finding documents very easy as they can be attached in inventories.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

I wish there was a way to attach two different documents to an item in the inventory tab. I also wish there was a way to link two items together in different inventory groups so that when you find one there would be a link to another.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The electronic lab notebook allows us to find information and test results on any sample with only a few clicks. When trying to put together reports of sample information this speeds up the process exponentially compared to looking through physical notebooks for results. This saves me time every day and also helps to keep accountability on all test results.

  ### 12. Great online lab notebook software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2023

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

SciNote is a wonderful resource for an online laboratory notebook. Being able to put a checklist for a formula, add comments during the procedure to explain what went right or wrong, attach a PDF of my formula and even upload pictures/other documents makes my SciNote lab notebook even better than my old physical notebook. I love the duplicate feature, where I can just create a new page and slightly modify the procedure (or anything else), but I do not have to retype the entire process. I also love the protocol/template aspect of the software. Using SciNote allows for more time for experimenting!

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

I do not really have complaints, I love using SciNote.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote is really standardizing how our company is using our Electronic Lab Notebooks, especially in Research and Development. We are saving time, as we no longer need to write down our procedure each trial, and instead we can just copy the old page and edit as needed.

  ### 13. Good for tracking and sharing experiments

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Everardo R. | Senior Research Scientist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

SciNote is very easy to use for creating experimental workflows. The interface is intuitive, and setting up steps and tasks feels natural, even for beginners. It really helps streamline planning and documentation.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

It’s not possible to easily monitor the progress of experiments in real time, which can slow things down, in particular for shared taks. Also, it lacks integration with genomic analysis tools, which limits its use for certain types of research.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralizes protocols and results, making it easier to stay organized and consistent. It reduces the risk of losing data and helps the whole team stay aligned on experimental progress.

  ### 14. Organized software that allows for tracking of experiments and meets GMP standards

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

This software does a good job integrating with Microsoft products to allow for different documents and tasks. If used properly, it can improve efficiency for completing tasks, make communication easier, and provide an organized means of tracing work performed and gathering signatures.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The names for the levels of organization are not intuitive. However, the support team is very responsive and the website that provides training and information is very useful. One other challenge is that a document can be opened simultaneously by multiple people in a Microsoft app but does not merge the changes of both users. Unlike Google Docs or SharePoint where you can see the other users changes as you work.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote has helped us move to using less paper and provides a method of compiling all of our research and development data into one location.

  ### 15. Laboratory use of Scinote

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tricia L. | Program Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Keep documentation in one location for multiple clients and multiple clients. Replaces laboratory notebooks, which eliminates poor handwriting. I like that you can upload files within a task.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The report exports do not look professional. Additionally, the latest updates to the table re-arranged the formatting of tables previously generated in SciNote making them unclear and causing them to stretch over multiple pages when printing.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Removes hand written lab note books by multiple individuals. This eliminates keeping track of notebooks across multiple labs and removes poor handwriting and notetaking, keeping a better record of experiments.

  ### 16. Good Online Lab Book for Collaboration

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

It is easy to collaborate with others in the lab, easy to find protocols. New features coming out often. Good for keeping stock and general lab business, including meeting notes and rotas

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

It isn't intuitive as a system - for example, it took a lot of time to figure out how to organize experiments etc and it doesn't feel like the most natural way to do it. However, once you get used to it then its ok. It also doesn't always support every file type which makes it a bit harder to store raw data but maybe future updates will help with this.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reduces physical storage space (multiple paper books takes up space), allows for easier and faster sharing with colleagues. Easier to understand (no bad handwriting etc)

  ### 17. Helps organize our workflow and data, but...

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

It has a good customizable user interface that you can use to set up a workflow that works for you and automates some tasks. There is a learning curve, but It's not terribly difficult.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

You may be able to achieve the same levels of automation with excel and a bit of technical skill.
Also, I do not like how the add-ons are bundled together in large expensive packages. It would be helpful to be able to select specific add-ons and features without upgrading the entire plan and being forced to pay for unneeded features.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a cloud storage space to upload, organize, and share our data, protocols, and inventory which greatly reduces the amount of time we would take to achieve those thing by analogue methods.

  ### 18. Easy to learn, easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristina L. | Research Scientist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

It is an intuitive userface that makes it easy to use. It doesn't have overcomplicated to make a lab notebok entry so it wasn't difficult to introduce this system to my teams. It's also affordable.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

It would be great to have a detailed and straighfoward way to document our cold storage, but I have yet to find any electronic lab notebook service that has what I am looking for, so this it less of a dislike of SciNote and more of a "it'd be cool if they had it", but my team doesn't need one at this time.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team needed a secure and quick way of documenting our lab experiments. The system we had been using before deleted the lab notebooks when a lab member left the lab. We now have a way to keep members entries past their employment with us, which was the primary reason we looked for an ELN service.

  ### 19. SciNote in R&D

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laurens d. | Research Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

The SciNote electronic labjournal is a great way to create and adapt protocols and easily apply them for day to day usages in laboratory practices. SciNote is also incredibly helpful to assign consumables and samples to specific tasks and experiments, all having an individual inventory number. These can easily be assigned to any project, creating a great overview of materials used.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The biggest downside of SciNote is the co-signing aspect, which is doable but requires external communication to discuss comments and improvements on the protocol and results section.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main selling point is simple: no more endlessly searching through journals for a certain experiment or data. Everything performed in the lab is easily accessible by everyone at any time and everywhere.

  ### 20. Keeps Me Organized, But Sometimes Feels Overly Structured

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carol H. | Educator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

It allows me to keep everything very organized.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Sometimes it seems too organized and I have to do things that are unnecessary.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me keep track of inventory, and I can keep track of experimental results.

  ### 21. Chemists Review of SciNote

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

SciNote makes it incredibly easy to organize scientific data. It's equipped to duplicate and move items around, decreasing the amount of time it takes to create closely related reports. It makes the inclusion of attachments (i.e. data files, pictures, reports) easy and straightforward, with the clear presentation of each. It keeps a timeline of when certain items were created or added, allowing you to understand expected timelines for similar projects and give you an idea of when items were completed. The organization makes it easy to find specific tasks so your data or records don't get lost in a bundle of experiments.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

After leaving a SciNote tab without input for a while, it will become unresponsive. Sometimes it will not make you aware of this, so if you attempt to continue work on the task, it will let you, but will not save any of the changes or extra information you've added. This will only become apparent if you refresh the tab or try to navigate else where as it will sign you out, losing any progress you've made.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote helps us record and present all the needed data to clients, helping us give them the best product possible with well organized, complete data records

  ### 22. Easy to learn ELN with good functionality

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Setting up experimental workflows in SciNote is nice because it is easy to do, fast and also easy for others to learn.
I really enjoy the protocol template feature (especially now with versioning) and the interaction of the tasks with the inventory.
The customer support is very helpful, they also already implemented or considered some of our own ideas and the ELN is constantly evolving in a positive way.
The ELN was easy to learn for everyone in our team and we quickly implemented it in various workflows, getting rid of almost all our paper documentation

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Some features could get more work, for example the way how assigned items are viewed in a task.
Sometimes the ELN is a bit slow.
It would be nice to have a better overview of all tasks in an experiment without needing to drag the workflow around.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because SciNote is so easy to use, the documentation of our experiments is done much quicker and I don't need to follow people around and remind them about documentation.

  ### 23. I have had a great experience with SciNote.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

I love how easy it is to delegate tasks to teammates and quickly see when they have left a comment, or completed something. The signature tracking and notification feature is great too.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

It's very easy to get lost in the sea of subfolders when you are working on a complex project; I wish it was a little less convoluted. I would really like for there to be a more useful search function.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote helps solve all the traditional issues with using paper records. It also solves the problem of tryign to reach out to a million people to get things signed or audited, as the SciNote notification system is very useful.

  ### 24. Very good management tools for the laboratory

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

The very precise inventory with the option to upload a complete file and the number of columns you want, and having QR codes which are very practical.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Sometimes it's difficult to link items in our inventory. There are often bugs and I have to close and then reopen the application.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having real-time access to the lab's inventory and the location of items is very convenient. It allows for better stock management. The fact that one can link the different items (chemicals/biological samples/lab equipment) in the tasks is very practical and allows for better GLP tracking.

  ### 25. Scinote is very simple and very easy to input various experiments and to track certain supplies.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

The most helpful thing is being able to export excel files onto scinote since that allows for easy transfer of information as well as having it in the cloud. We are able to use this a lot in terms of experiments and supplies.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The downside would be that it can sometimes be hard to know how to add things into scinote.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem SciNote solves is being able to put most of our paper items onto the cloud as well as keeping track of all of our expeirments.

**Official Response from Theresa Liao:**

> Hello! Thank you for your feedback - it's great to hear that SciNote has been helpful for you to keep track of the experiments in the lab!

As SciNote is quite flexible and open-ended, it is great for adapting to each lab's workflow, but it could take a little bit of time to figure out how to add things into SciNote. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your Customer Success Manager at any time if you have any questions or need some help! Also, you can find some use cases in the resource link below - some of which include screenshots of how users put together their workflows, which could be helpful.

  ### 26. SciNote review from a post-doctoral researcher

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saman N. | Postdoctoral Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

I really appreciate that everything regarding my research is in one platform. My protocols, results, notes, and inventory are under one platform.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The project section is a bit difficult to navigate through, especially when you have multiple experiments under one project.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It keeps all things related to a project in one platform. This helps to keep track of all the experiments.

  ### 27. SciNote is very useful for team collaboration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joanna S. | Junior Research Scientist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

I enjoy being able to work together with colleagues on projects and get real time updates about what they've accomplished. I joined a company that uses SciNote 1 month ago and feel that it is easy to use and implement. I use it on a daily basis to refer to saved protocols and to take notes on completed experiments.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

I recently was working on a protocol that combined 2 protocols, one that I had made and another colleague had made. I couldn't figure out how to delete and replace the protocol that my colleague had made, so that seemed a little less than intuitive.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to work together as a team, recording new information as we gather data. It is also very easy to look back on past experiments if they are labeled and organized well. I think that it is very important in a team setting to have a good organization system that all members can utilize. SciNote is very supportive of that.

  ### 28. Efficient and Comprehensive Documentation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kellie B. | Research Scientist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

SciNote is easy to use, and so much more efficient than a lab notebook, making it easier to be comprehensive in the data/processes that need to be documented. The file structure is simple and makes documentation straightforward. Protocols and protocol versioning are very helpful to document quickly and to keep methods up-to-date. The information that needs to be recorded within a task protocol can be set up for repeated . Seeing the workflow withing an experiment is also very helpful for quickly understanding the experiment process. Having a microsoft online connected to the site is also very helpful for collaborative work, allowing you to skip the step of having to upload items.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

It would be very helpful if templates could include formatting for Results, so that result documentation as well as procedural can be structured. Additionally, as you cannot put experiments into sub-project folders, it can become somewhat messy within the file structure of projects.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote helps our company with consistency and standardization in documentation. We know what is expected in terms of documentation, and we know what we can expect to find when we seach back into past experiments.

  ### 29. Great ELN for academic labs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristen J. | Laboratory Research Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

SciNote has been a great way for our lab to stay organized and keep protocols, inventory, and data in one place. Lab members use it every day for taking notes, keeping track of grant experiments, surgical experiments, cell culturing, etc. We have found the relationships add-on to be extremely useful. It is very user friendly and the SciNote team are very responsive and helpful when we have any problems.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

SciNote is a work in progress, so there are still some bugs to be worked out. Our lab has found some issues where we would like to write freehand and there is no simple way to do that in SciNote. There is a learning curve to implement the software into the lab, but overall worth it.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote is ensuring that all experimental notes and protocols are saved in one space that makes it easy for other members to find and use. It saves time when doing one assay multiple times because the template protocol can be used over and over again. It has also helped us keep better track of inventory using the stock management.

  ### 30. Good ELN with some room for improvement.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean C. | Program Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

It keeps your protocols very nicely organized and orderly.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The new tables feature needs a lot of improvement. It is not at all user friendly and the view is terrible. Additionally, whenever someone clicks off a step the task should automatically be put into progress.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of all our protocols.

  ### 31. The calendar feature is the best part!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan H. | Scientist 1, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

The calendar feature on the dashboard page is the best because it allows you to see everything that is happening for the month no matter if its assigned to you or not. This is helpful when it comes time to plan out experiments that last for several weeks at a time.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

I wish you could get reminders for the start date of things and not just the due date. The calendar tracking only goes by the due date and there are several assays that I perform over multiple days so it would be nice to set the start and end date for the whole lenght of the experiment not just when the experiment initally needs to be taken down.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provided a way for everyone to document their portions of various research projects in one place instead of a word document which was our old system.

  ### 32. Great tool for labs!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

The structure, which makes organizing experiments easy and traceable. The ability to link protocols, datasets, and results within each task. It also integrates well with other systems (e.g., inventory, protocols.io), which boosts workflow efficiency. The team collaboration features.
Customer support is wonderfull as well!

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The export of inventories in a non-editable format (e.g. .pdf) with timestamp and who printed would be a great addition.

A specific QA profile would be great addition to improve the protocol approval flow.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inventory Managment and Ccmpliance

  ### 33. SciNote for electronic lab notebook

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Todd A. | Reseach Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

One access point for all lab activities. Makes retreiving and reviewing data very easy

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Takes sometime to understand how to navigate and use all of the tools but makes for easy acess once understood

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organization and access to data from multiple projects is far easier.

  ### 34. Using SciNote in our daily lab routine.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Helps to organize our experiments, and especially our inventory and reagents.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Some format/appearance issue can be improved (e.g., formatting text within table like underlines).

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By automatically managing our inventory (through the day-to-day reported consumption), SciNote make stock managing a lot easier.
In addition, using templates of protocols simplifies our workflow in routine experiments.

  ### 35. electronic lab notes plus more

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Digisha P. | Lead, Techinician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

The system is on cloud so it can be accessed easily along with maintaining your inventory of frequently used products.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

once you create the folder it cannot be deleted even its was an inadvertent event. I believe the administrator should have access to delete unwanted folders instead of achieving everything.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining the record of current affairs on daily basis and ease of access of the records for your peers.

  ### 36. Helps me stay organized and on top of my projects.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

It is customizable to my needs and helps me stay organized while I am formulating on the benchtop.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Sometimes there are too many updates that don't really give a benefit. For example the most recent update, when requesting for a signature the button moved from the left side to the right side.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving having to write out my formula and procedure out in a physical notebook.

  ### 37. Clear electronic lab notebook

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Researchers can manage experiments, protocols, and results in one place, making collaboration more efficient. Personal support is also available for new users.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

When working on a complex project, it can be hard to find informations if creating too many subfolders.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote helps our company for data organisation, collaboration, and reproducibility; reducing the risk of data loss or mismanagement

  ### 38. SciNote Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

SciNote makes our workflows more efficient and reduces the risk of losing documentation. It streamlines the record-keeping process and I appreciate the hierarchical project/experiment/task structure.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The report feature in SciNote poses difficulty for my team because we often store documents in separate projects that need to be included together in a report. I have not yet found a solution to this issue.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote helps immensely with sharing tasks and documentation with external resources in an efficient and organized manner. It benefits our team by saving valuable time and allows for easy file sharing and storage.

  ### 39. An informatic lab book

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Clémentine D. | Laboratory Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Really easy to use. Quick overview of experiments and tasks to do. I like that we can see the inventory and import protocols in tasks. No need of paperwork to document what we did and the easyness to see what have been done.
I also like that you can check boxes for each step you're doing, the protocol is really followed step by step.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The signature process leads to a heaviness of the software.
In an experiment, I like the canva view but you cannot zoom in/out and moving in the task is not as easy as it could be e.g. for big worklow, all the steps cannot be seen.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It shows which steps of an experiment have been done or have to be done and who was involved in. As we implemented all the protocol, the aim is to not have paperwork and only SciNote in the lab with steps that can be validated one by one.

  ### 40. Science made simple

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

What is most helpful when using SciNote is their ability to create and link notes together for projects. I love being able to connect notes in sequential matter and viaualize the workflow as our studies grow. The upside of using SciNote is that it is easy to get aquanited to and has simple features. It took me only a couple of days to implement the software.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Something that is least helpful is the inventories page. I find that my company doesnt use it, but it could be helpful if it was better formatted. Something I dislike about SciNote is that there is no ability to go a little bit more complex with the features; they seem realtively basic, but functional.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote provides a colborative platform for my company to work on the same projects; we all can edit the same pages and experiments which allows us to work together. This benifits me because we have a historical track of our colborative data which is important for our companies success.

  ### 41. Very solid alternative to paper notebooks

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

We use SciNote in our research and development lab, both for performing and recording experiments and product development, and for sharing data with collaborators. We use SciNote every day for all of our normal operations, as well as tracking short-term or infrequent projects and tasks.

Having everything in one place and accessible to all team members is a game changer for our lab. Because we collaborate on projects so much, there would be bits and pieces of experiments spread across several lab notebooks and hunting down what you needed was a chore. SciNote totally eliminated that. In additional, the inventory management system has added so much value for our lab. We used to keep dozens of excel spreadsheets to track inventories for various projects and contracts, and it became a real burden. SciNote helped consolidate all of that into one place, which has been awesome.

Working with the team at SciNote has also been great. They have been quick, thorough and responsive to our needs, and have actively sought feedback and ideas for improving the product. We were even able to meet with the head of product development to discuss our challenges with the product and features that we would like to see implemented in the future.

Getting SciNote set up did take some time. We had a lot of information, inventories, and ongoing trackers that had to be manually set up in SciNote. However, the integration itself was very straightforward and easy, and we were able to quickly get help from the customer support team whenever we ran into issues. The time we spent getting everything set up was definitely worthwhile.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

We use SciNote for recording experiments, as well as for product development and time tracking. It works great for experiments, and has a lot of features that are geared toward running standard protocols and recording standard results. However, it doesn't lend itself as well to the more free-form style required for prototyping and iteration. Our product development team needs to be able to sketch diagrams and ideas, make notes about prototype changes, and track parts as they are added or taken away.

Additionally, the table feature could use some updates! We are able to add Excel files to protocols, which is a decent workaround for now, but it would be really nice to have more sophisticated native tables. Adding intuitive formulas, the ability to move data around in a table, and more robust formatting options would be really useful.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote allows us to keep all of our data in one place where it is easily accessible to all team members and collaborators. In addition, the timestamping feature allows us to track and record the actual time spent on particular projects and contracts, which is vital for some of our work.

  ### 42. Easy to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2023

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Arun! If we ever had a problem or question, he is always able to help.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Not being able to adjust the Inventory columns size.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We no longer have to use notebooks to document work within the lab, the audit trail helps. We can keep track of our inventory of standards and reagents better.

**Official Response from Theresa Liao:**

> Thank you! I will make sure to pass on your feedback to Arun - he would be thrilled to hear this!

  ### 43. Tracking of work made easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

I like the easy way of looking through the inventory and being able to keep up to date with the amount of products that are consumed and still available in our storage

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The Scibote signature requests are useless in my situation and for how we work at our company.

Additionally, I dislike that you cannot zoom out of the canvas view in individual experimetns and always need to "drag" the canvas left and right/ up and down. If the zooming out feature was available, it would have made things much easier.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Scinote its is much easier to keep our invetories up to date and this way we can avoid situations where we urgently need a construct that has actually run out without us noticing. It allows us to adjust our work according to supplies and to align our work with other (production) departments.

  ### 44. Lab and Project Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Create project task flows, construct project management sheets in inventories, and keep track of everything with dates and reminders. Add images, files, and word documents to results as it is essential and handy.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

I would like it if the molecular biology tool was able to align Sanger sequencing files. It would also be helpful to be able to adjust the printing parameters as sometimes the protocol is cut off by printing on the next page.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking inventory and project completion

  ### 45. Great Management Systems

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda D. | Chemical Laboratory Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Scinote has great features in place to keep all of my lab inventory and tasks on track. I specifically enjoy being able to assign inventory items to a task. Additionally it is easy to use for scientist and no scientist who need access to lab recordings.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

The only downside to scinote is the organization within a folder- I think I would prefer some type of list or toggle organization inncomparison to the "sticky note" organization it currently uses.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The new locations feature is solving the dissorganization of the inventory items location - previously there were no set locations to choose from in scinote.

  ### 46. A helpful tool with easy-to-use features for staying on top of experiments.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cerena L. | Research Associate II, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2024

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

I really like the flowchart aspect of SciNote, it makes it simple to see what tasks are part of the pipeline. I also like how neatly everything is categorized when it comes to searching for experiments and tasks.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

I don't like the protocol tabs on experimental tasks--there doesn't need to be a mandatory option to input "steps", rather it would just be easier to upload documents as needed.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote is helping my company maintain a database of all experiments and keeps each project team easily separated. This is helpful for someone like me who works on multiple project teams.

  ### 47. I found SciNote is very help full to maintain the data and easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

Very easy to use and best notebook for to save all the information about the experiments

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

I did not find anything dislike about the Scinote

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to trace all the data at one platform

  ### 48. When given enough time on the platform, SciNote becomes an effective, detailed record of lab work.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

The automatic cataloguing of projects, experiments, and tasks with numerical codes makes it very easy to find what you're looking for on the platform.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

Proper record-keeping on SciNote requires hours of your time per week. Project and experiment numerical codes are also difficult to access while you are reading a task.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote records all of our experimental data and analysis of that data. It does so in an organized, navigable way.

  ### 49. Outstanding Support and Expertise from Ben Tripodi

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2025

**What do you like best about SciNote?**

We are a CRO lab in the pharmaceutical industry and recently evaluated Scinote while exploring ELN solutions for our company. Working with the Scinote support team, and especially Ben Tripodi, has been an excellent experience. Ben’s swift responses, professionalism, and deep product knowledge were outstanding. I have reached out to several competitors’ account executives, and none matched the efficiency and professionalism of Ben; communication with them was slower and less effective. While we ultimately determined that Scinote was not the perfect fit for our specific scope, it is an excellent product and well-positioned in the market.

**What do you dislike about SciNote?**

While Scinote is a solid product for its market positioning, as a contract lab operating under GxP, we found some limitations. We would expect more advanced features such as:

Native integration with lab instruments.

The ability to insert forms directly within sentences when creating templates.

A more straightforward, precise, and concise audit trail for tracking changes in large texts and tables.

An external client portal allowing clients to log in, submit testing requests, and download results.

These improvements would make Scinote more suitable for GxP-regulated environments and larger-scale contract lab operations.

**What problems is SciNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciNote helps organize and streamline laboratory workflows by providing a centralized electronic lab notebook (ELN) system. It allows our team to document experiments consistently and maintain a structured record of data for regulatory compliance. Even though we operate under GxP and require some advanced features, SciNote’s platform still benefits us by improving data traceability, reducing manual paperwork, and ensuring clear communication within the team. The support from SciNote, especially Ben Tripodi, also made onboarding and evaluation smooth and efficient.

  ### 50. Powerful Lab Notebook for Chemists
