My favorite aspect of Paycom is the ability to manage the full employee lifecycle in one place. From recruiting and onboarding to payroll, benefits, and terminations, everything connects, which helps with compliance, minimizes errors, and saves a tremendous amount of time. One challenge with Paycom is that because it’s such a comprehensive system, there can be a steep learning curve for new users. Some processes, like navigating certain reports or updates, can take time to master. That said, once you’re familiar with it, the efficiency gains are significant. System Errors: Users have experienced significant problems with core functions, including incorrect employee setups, malfunctioning paid time off (PTO) accruals, and erroneous tax calculations.

"Effortless Payroll and Timekeeping with Constantly Improving Features"
What do you like best about Paycom?

Paycom is easy to navigate for Admins and Employees. I love that they are constantly updating the system features and give detailed tutorials. Payroll is easy to run and timekeeping is simple. Employees love that they have access to all of their information and freedom to change without having to fill out a bunch of forms to turn in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paycom?

To be honest there really isn't anything I dislike about Paycom. I would make one slight change with the Push Reporting feature. I wish there was a way to automatically send a link directly to the report and not have to log into the Client Inbox to review it. That's it. What do you like best about Paycom?

Having an assigned Payroll Specialist has been a great benefit. The representative assigned to our company is wonderful. She consistently goes above and beyond whenever we need something. Her customer service excels, and even if she is not available, there is always someone else on her team who is happy to help. The efficiency and level of service are excellent.

What do you dislike about Paycom?

Probably the reporting options. Don't get me wrong, the reports in Paycom are great, and even if you can’t find one that already meets your needs, the Report Writer is available. However, if you are a new user or you are looking for something outside of your usual reports, it may take some time to find the right setup for the report(s) you need. What do you like best about Paycom?

Having a dedicated specialist is fantastic for quick customer support. Our CRR is also very wonderful for implementing new products and explaining the process, even when there is pushback. Having employees own their data is a valuable benefit, and having all necessary information consolidated within a single system enhances efficiency. What do you dislike about Paycom?

There are certain features that may appear cluttered or generate notifications that become permanently active if applied to former employees. Once an employee's termination is finalized, it is generally unnecessary to make adjustments. For example, enabling ESS access for terminated employees is not appropriate. What do you like best about Paycom?

I really like the Report Center on Paycom. It gives me the ability to create reports for data requests that I typically receive on a consistent basis, and I can adjust the parameters and fields for the reports based on when I need the data and specific data points. I love the user-friendliness of the Employee Self-Service (ESS), especially from an employee standpoint. I love how I'm able to access my documents as soon as possible. What do you like best about Paycom?

I like the ease of use and simplicity of Paycom's design. I rarely, if ever, have trouble finding what I'm looking for. It doesn't slow me down when I'm trying to find something or figure out how to do something. I don't have to ask someone for help or Google the answer because it's easy to find what I'm looking for without outside help. The initial setup was also easy and simple for me. What do you dislike about Paycom?

The only thing I find annoying about Paycom is that it signs me out every 30 minutes due to inactivity. The previous system we used would allow me to stay logged in for an entire shift, which was more convenient, but I can see why they would log me out after a certain amount of time because of security reasons. What do you like best about Paycom?

Paycom does bring value in certain areas. The system makes it relatively simple to pull payroll reports and access data when needed, which allows me to step in and assist our payroll administrator at any time. Reporting capabilities are helpful, even if not perfect, and provide visibility into important payroll statistics. Another major positive has been our current payroll specialist, who is highly responsive and knowledgeable—an important improvement after previously experiencing turnover and unresponsiveness with other specialists. Over time, benefits administration has also stabilized and now runs more smoothly than it did at the beginning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paycom?

Despite its positives, Paycom has several significant limitations. The sales process set unrealistic expectations, promising features that ultimately did not exist. Implementation was rushed, with incomplete or incorrect setup that payroll specialists later had to fix. Reporting, while available, is not as comprehensive as needed. Many reports lack key fields, requiring frequent tweaks from our specialist, and development requests rarely progress.

Functionally, Paycom is not a complete payroll and HR solution. We still rely on our old payroll system for certain functions Paycom cannot handle, which forces us to operate in two systems to ensure documentation and compliance. Several HR-related areas are particularly weak: tracking continuing education is cumbersome, document access control is limited, employee performance evaluations are not well supported, and in-house training and CEU tracking are difficult to manage. Perhaps most concerning, Paycom cannot accommodate workers’ compensation—an essential part of HR—leaving a large gap in capability.

In addition, the system’s design is clunky and unintuitive. Navigation requires moving through multiple areas to find tools, and it is often unclear what impact a selection will have without specialist assistance. While some areas have improved over time, the overall experience has been one of ongoing struggles and workarounds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use Paycom for my HR needs, and I like that it serves as our HRIIS system with various HR-related programs like payroll, onboarding, offboarding, and benefits administration. It's great for organization, and very useful for employees, especially for compliance details regarding HR policies. I feel like Paycom is more current with today's technology, as it's accessible on our phones, making it easy for employees to access pay records and different HR items from wherever they are. It saves us a lot of time from an HR office perspective. I find the reports feature very useful for providing stakeholders with data. Additionally, payroll setup was the easiest. The implementation phase was challenging. When we first enrolled, we were kind of handed Paycom without any kind of guidance. We had to learn on our own.
