In the end, the ease of installation and use, along with a fully customizable and advanced interface, make it a straightforward add for most organizations. Implementation is straightforward, and once in place, it can be a powerful tool in your arsenal.

**What do you dislike about Hotjar?**

The tool has a learning curve but is definitely one that can be learned quickly. Advanced features require more advanced skills and can deter users from adopting initially.

Hotjar provides me with the tools I need to quickly and easily monitor user sessions, collect direct feedback, and generate heatmaps of interactions. This helps me justify changes to my clients' experiences on both their web and mobile sites.

  ### 4. Indispensable to understand and improve the User Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Hotjar?**

What I like most about Hotjar is that it really allows me to understand my users. I see exactly where they get stuck, what catches their attention, and where they drop off. It transforms abstract behaviors into concrete and actionable insights. The tool is very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Hotjar?**

The targeting options lack granularity: segmenting specific user profiles remains tedious and inflexible.

**What problems is Hotjar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Hotjar to understand my users' behavior and gather their needs through session recordings and surveys. This helps me know their feelings about specific features and identify trends to reduce churn.

  ### 5. Heatmaps and Session Recordings Make Visitor Insights Effortless

**What do you dislike about Hotjar?**

Session recordings can occasionally load slowly when working with large datasets.

**What problems is Hotjar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hotjar helps me understand how visitors explore the health packages on our website. Using heatmaps and session recordings, I can see where users hesitate or drop off. These insights help us improve the page layout and make it easier for people to book the right package.

  ### 6. Free Version Gives Clear Insight Into Customer Behavior

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Hotjar?**

the free version is anought for most web sites or landing pages

You have lost of non interesting sessions, so you can't know if people are interested or not

**What problems is Hotjar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 7. Great Heatmaps and Recordings, But Limited Analytics Depth

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Machinery | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Hotjar?**

Hotjar doesn’t just give you numbers; it gives you heatmaps and session recordings. You can actually see where people click, how far they scroll, and where they get stuck, which makes user behavior feel tangible instead of abstract.

**What do you dislike about Hotjar?**

It doesn’t go very deep analytically. If you’re used to something like Google Analytics, the lack of detailed metrics, segmentation, and advanced reporting can feel limiting. The recordings and heatmaps are helpful, but they can also get overwhelming or take a lot of time to review, especially on high-traffic sites.

**What problems is Hotjar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hotjar helps me understand why users behave a certain way by showing real interactions through heatmaps, recordings, and feedback. It makes it easier to quickly spot UX issues, reduce guesswork, and improve my site in ways that tools like Google Analytics alone can’t fully explain.

  ### 8. Great for User Behavior Insights

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabor F. | Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Hotjar?**

Hotjar helps us understand how users interact with our website and find and fix UX issues that with using only Google Analytics previously we missed.

Seeing how people actually move through our pages helps us quickly spot where they get stuck or drop off. The visual data gives qualitative insights that using only numbers can’t provide.

**What do you dislike about Hotjar?**

The session recording limits can be restrictive, and once you hit your quota, visibility drops unless you upgrade. Filtering and segmenting data could also be smoother and occasionally recordings miss interactions on dynamic pages.

**What problems is Hotjar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hotjar helps us see how people actually use our website through heatmaps and session recordings. The recordings especially have been super useful for spotting how visitors move through our pages and forms. We fixed a lot of small UX issues and friction points that we wouldn’t have noticed just by looking at analytics data. Thanks to that, we managed to improve our forms, and make the overall user experience better and conversions higher.

  ### 9. Hotjar’s All-in-One Suite Makes User Insights Easy to Visualize

**What do you dislike about Hotjar?**

There isn't necessarily anything I dislike about Hotjar, although I do wish it had more live interaction features so that you can better track what is happening in real time.

**What problems is Hotjar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hotjar is helping me to understand my users and their behaviour, something I couldn't do to the same detail before having it. It is benefiting me because I can easily see what is going on with my platform.

  ### 10. Hotjar: Visual Behaviour & Feedback Insights That Illuminate UX & Conversion Funnels

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zonja S. | Senior CRO specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Hotjar?**

What I Like Best About Hotjar

Clear visibility into user behaviour — beyond what analytics alone can show
Hotjar’s combination of heatmaps, session recordings, and user-feedback tools surfaces what users actually do (clicks, scrolls, movement) and, where needed, why (via surveys/feedback).

Bridges quantitative & qualitative — heatmaps + feedback + recordings in one platform
This “all-in-one” approach helps me connect behavioural data (scrolling, clicks, navigation paths) with sentiment or user-reported feedback. That holistic view is invaluable for diagnosing UX friction or conversion drop-offs.

Fast setup and accessible to non-technical users
Installing Hotjar is straightforward (a simple tracking snippet) and you don’t have to be a developer or data-analyst to start getting insights. This lowers friction for teams and accelerates the feedback–analysis loop.

Ideal for spotting UX/UX issues, conversion bottlenecks, and improving funnels
With its heatmaps, recordings, and form-analysis features, Hotjar helps reveal where users hesitate, get confused, or abandon before converting — especially useful on landing pages, checkout flows, or signup forms.

Flexibility: behavioural tracking, feedback collection, and research tools under one roof
The platform supports a mix of tools: heatmaps, session replay, surveys, feedback widgets — making it easy to run mixed-method UX research without stitching together multiple tools.

From a CRO / UX-optimization standpoint, this makes Hotjar a powerful “first-stop” tool for diagnosing issues, gathering qualitative insight, and building hypotheses to test — faster and more informed than guessing or relying solely on aggregate analytics.

**What do you dislike about Hotjar?**

What I Dislike (or What Could Be Better)

Limits on recordings and data when on free or lower-tier plans
The free plan (and lower-end plans) have session-recording caps, which can restrict visibility especially for higher-traffic sites or when you need to analyze many user sessions.

Filtering and segmentation for recordings/heatmaps can feel limited at scale
Users report that when you have a lot of data (many sessions, many users), the filtering and analysis tools can become overwhelming or less efficient — which makes it harder to quickly extract actionable insights.

Performance overhead and possible slower page load / tracking overhead
Because Hotjar tracks detailed user interaction, some users note that enabling full recording/analytics can add overhead to site performance (especially on heavy/complex pages).

May not replace full analytics — lacks deep quantitative analytics or experimentation features
While great for behaviour + feedback insight, Hotjar doesn’t aim to replace a full analytics/experimentation platform (e.g. A/B testing frameworks or in-depth event analytics). For some sophisticated needs, it's more of a qualitative/visual supplement than a full data-stack.

Scalability & cost — as traffic grows, may become expensive or require higher-tier plans to remain useful
For small sites or early-stage CRO work, the free or low cost plans offer value; but as volume increases, upgrades may be needed — which can raise cost and requires weighing ROI.

From a CRO lens: these trade-offs matter — especially if you aim to use it for high-traffic sites, large-scale experiments, or rely heavily on data for funnel optimization and segmentation. It’s valuable, but one must plan accordingly around data volume and analysis needs.

**What problems is Hotjar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

What Problems Hotjar Is Solving — And How That Benefits Me (as CRO / UX-Optimization)

Turning ambiguous analytics metrics into actionable behaviour insight
Traditional analytics (page views, bounce rate, conversion rate) often tell what happened, but not why. Hotjar fills that gap: you can see where users got stuck, what they ignored, where they abandoned — which helps root-cause issues in UX or conversion funnels.

Providing a low-friction way to observe real user journeys and detect UX friction
With session recordings and heatmaps, I can “watch over the shoulder” of real users — replicating their journeys, seeing hesitation, misclicks or drop-offs. This helps prioritise UX fixes based on actual behaviour rather than assumptions.

Enabling mixed-method feedback (behaviour + qualitative input) to validate hypotheses or redesigns
Because Hotjar offers feedback tools (surveys, forms, feedback widgets) alongside behavioural tracking, I can combine quantitative data (what people do) with qualitative data (what people say they think or feel). That’s powerful for conversion optimization, messaging tweaks, or user-experience improvements.

Speeding up insight cycles without heavy analytics infrastructure
Hotjar’s easy setup and visual data frontier allow agile teams — even small or non-technical ones — to get real user insights quickly and iterate fast. For CRO teams that run frequent experiments or redesigns, this agility is a big plus.

Helping prioritise optimisations based on real user pain-points
By seeing actual user frustration or stumbling (via session replays, heatmaps, form-drop-off analysis), we can prioritise UX fixes or funnel improvements that are most likely to improve conversion or retention — instead of guessing or distributing effort evenly.

  ### 15. 3 Years with Hotjar - Outstanding User Insights Platform for E-commerce Growth

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Art B. | Conversion Rata Optimisation Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Hotjar?**

After using Hotjar for nearly 3 years in our e-commerce business, I can confidently say it's one of the best investments we've made. The platform is incredibly intuitive and easy to use - even non-technical team members quickly mastered it. Implementation was seamless, taking just minutes to get up and running. The breadth of features is impressive: heatmaps, session recordings, feedback polls, and surveys give us comprehensive insights into customer behavior. Customer support has been consistently responsive and helpful whenever we've had questions. We use Hotjar daily to optimize our website, and the insights have directly contributed to improving our conversion rates and user experience. The integration capabilities are excellent, working smoothly with our existing tech stack.

**What do you dislike about Hotjar?**

While Hotjar is excellent overall, there are a few minor areas for improvement. Occasionally, the dashboard can feel a bit slow when loading large datasets from high-traffic periods. The pricing tiers could be more flexible for mid-sized businesses experiencing rapid growth. Some advanced filtering options in session recordings could be more granular. However, these are relatively minor issues that don't significantly impact the overall value and usefulness of the platform. The team is constantly improving the product, and I've seen many of our previous concerns addressed through updates over the years.

**What problems is Hotjar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hotjar has been instrumental in solving several critical challenges for our e-commerce business. First, it eliminated the guesswork in understanding why customers were abandoning carts or not completing purchases - session recordings and heatmaps revealed friction points we never knew existed. Second, it helped us prioritize our optimization efforts by showing us exactly where users were struggling or getting confused on our site. The feedback widgets allowed us to capture real-time customer insights without interrupting their journey. Third, it bridged the communication gap between our marketing, design, and development teams by providing concrete visual evidence of user behavior. As a result, we've seen measurable improvements in conversion rates, reduced bounce rates, and increased average order values. The data-driven insights have also helped us make confident decisions about website changes, saving time and resources that would have been wasted on ineffective modifications.
