## HeyTaco Reviews
  ### 1. Tacos, not just for eating anymore

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** DeAnna R. | QA Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2022

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

What I like best about HeyTaco is how it encourages team appreciation in such a fun and lightweight way. It’s simple, but meaningful—being able to give a taco with a quick message of thanks or recognition helps build a stronger, more positive culture without feeling forced. It makes people feel seen, and I love that it gives everyone, from the quiet achievers to the daily rockstars, a chance to be celebrated.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

I hate to run out of tacos.
One thing I dislike about HeyTaco is that it can sometimes feel transactional or superficial if people use it to give out tacos without a meaningful message. While the intention is great, without context or sincerity, it can lose its impact over time. It would be helpful if the platform encouraged more thoughtful recognition or had gentle prompts to add context when giving tacos.

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving gratification to fellow employees.

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> Thank you so much for the thoughtful review — we really appreciate both the praise and the honest feedback.

We love hearing that HeyTaco feels fun and meaningful for your team. Creating a lightweight way to help people feel seen — from quiet achievers to daily rockstars — is exactly what we aim for.

Running out of tacos is intentional 😄 The daily limit helps keep recognition thoughtful rather than automatic.

And you’re absolutely right — the message is what gives a taco its meaning. We design HeyTaco to encourage sincere, peer-driven appreciation, and your feedback about adding gentle prompts for more context is a great suggestion.

Thanks again for helping us keep recognition authentic and impactful. 🌮

  ### 2. HeyTaco boosts team morale and is an excellent way to show appreciation to coworkers across depts.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

HeyTaco integrates seamlessly into the Slack software, and the many different ways to "gift" tacos make it easier than ever to send appreciation and shoutouts to team members, from messaging tacos to sending stickers to leaving taco emojis on others' messages. I appreciate the monthly taco reports, too, which focus more on how many tacos a person gives than receives -- it's a great reminder that the purpose of these tacos is to lift up and celebrate one another. It has been a great app to use for my team.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

HeyTaco is a great app and platform; my staff has a taco rewards shop, which can only be accessed through the browser version of Slack. It would be nicer if the rewards shop could be accessed directly on the desktop version of Slack, but otherwise no complaints!

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HeyTaco allows for an easy-to-use, effective integration of cultural values into workplace communication, especially in showing gratitude and appreciation.

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> This made our day. We love how you called out the many ways to give tacos — messages, stickers, emoji drive-bys — because recognition should meet people where they already are, not require a special ceremony.

We’re especially glad the monthly taco reports resonated. Focusing on giving rather than receiving is very intentional for us. It’s a gentle reminder that recognition isn’t about scorekeeping — it’s about lifting others up and reinforcing the behaviors and values that make teams thrive.

On the Taco Shop access: thank you for that feedback. You’re right — today it lives in the browser version of Slack, and we know having it available directly in the desktop app would make things even smoother. Feedback like this helps guide where we invest next.

Most of all, we love hearing that HeyTaco helps integrate cultural values directly into everyday communication. When gratitude shows up naturally in the flow of work, culture stops being a poster on the wall and starts being something people actually feel.

Thanks for being such a thoughtful taco champion 🌮✨

  ### 3. A Fun Way to Celebrate Small Wins, Visible, and Fun

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

What’s most helpful about HeyTaco is that it makes appreciation simple and visible. It encourages small, frequent recognition instead of waiting for big moments, which helps build a positive team culture. I also like that it feels lightweight and fun, so giving recognition doesn’t feel forced; it becomes a natural part of the day.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

One thing I don’t love about HeyTaco is that sometimes it can start to feel routine, and the recognition becomes more habitual than meaningful. When that happens, it can lose a bit of its impact. It works best when people take a moment to be specific about why they’re giving appreciation.

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HeyTaco helps solve the problem of recognition getting overlooked in day-to-day work. It makes appreciation quick and visible, so small contributions don’t go unnoticed. For me, it’s motivating to receive acknowledgment from teammates, and it also reminds me to recognize others more consistently. It helps create a more positive and supportive team environment overall.

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> This is such a thoughtful reflection — thank you for putting words to something many teams feel 🌮💛

We love that you called out small, frequent recognition. That steady drumbeat of appreciation is exactly what builds culture over time.

And you’re absolutely right about the “routine” risk. Any habit — even a good one — can start to feel automatic if we’re not intentional. A few ways teams keep tacos meaningful and fresh:

Encourage specificity. A short “for jumping in on that client call yesterday” makes recognition land much harder than a general shoutout.

Tie tacos to values. Many teams connect tacos to core values so appreciation reinforces what matters most.

Create light rituals. Taco Tuesday themes, monthly highlights, or rotating “gratitude captains” can bring new energy.

Model depth from leaders. When managers give thoughtful, detailed tacos, it sets the tone for everyone else.

HeyTaco works best when it’s a tool for real appreciation — not autopilot recognition. We’re glad it’s helping create a more positive, supportive environment for you, and we appreciate you highlighting what keeps it impactful.

Thanks for helping keep the taco economy meaningful 🌮✨

  ### 4. Makes Shouting Out Co-Workers Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colleen S. | Senior Strategist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

Being able to s/o my co-workers is really valuable. I think that, sometimes, as a society, we can forget to give positive feedback, so it’s great to have a Slack extension for it right in our workspace that keeps it top of mind.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

I think one downside to using Hey Taco is that you can’t give a taco to multiple people at once. It would be helpful to allow a small cap—maybe 3 or 4 people in a message—so that if several teammates are mentioned in the same message, they can all receive a taco.

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Positive Feedback, Knowledge of Accomplishments across teams in the company

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> We love this reflection — keeping positive feedback top of mind is exactly why HeyTaco lives right in Slack 🌮💛 Those everyday shout-outs add up.

On giving tacos to multiple people: good news — you can already do this! 🎉
You can tag multiple teammates in a single message and include the taco amount, and each tagged person will receive that number of tacos.

For example:

Tag 3–4 people and add “1 taco” → each person gets 1 taco

Tag the same group and add “2 tacos” → each person gets 2 tacos

If you ever want to give different amounts to different people, sending separate messages keeps it clean and intentional.

We’re especially glad to hear HeyTaco helps surface accomplishments across teams — that visibility is a huge part of building connection and appreciation at scale.

Thanks for sharing the love and helping make recognition a daily habit 🌮✨

  ### 5. HeyTaco encourages peer kudos and creates a culture of appreciation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer K. | Senior Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2026

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

HeyTaco lets our team send kudos in a tangible meaningful way. It encourages and awesome team culture where kudos are encouraged and rewarded with gift cards or donations to our Team's favorite charities. It's a pretty awesome program and I would argue some of the best internal peer award systems I've seen.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

Not much to complain about sincerely, love it!

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Morale and Culture; 2 things that are hard to manage even if your leadership is doing everything right. Creating an approved space and system to give each other praise is such a huge boon to morale and makes everyone feel appreciated and included.

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> Wow — thank you for such a generous review. We’re truly honored by your words.

Hearing that HeyTaco is helping create a space where kudos feel meaningful (and not just performative) is exactly why we built it. Pairing peer recognition with options like gift cards or charitable donations is meant to amplify appreciation — not replace it — and it’s amazing to see that balance working for your team.

You’re also absolutely right: morale and culture are hard to “manage” directly. Our goal has always been to make recognition something the team owns together, not something that lives only with leadership.

Thanks again for being part of the HeyTaco community — we’re lucky to support teams like yours. 🌮

  ### 6. HeyTaco Brings Our Team Together Like Nothing Else

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

I love how HeyTaco helps bring teams together. I’ve worked with a lot of organizations that want to build strong team support, but my current one is the only one that uses HeyTaco, and I’ve never been part of a closer team.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

I really wish HeyTaco would send reminders when my stickers are about to expire. I end up wasting stickers all the time because I forget to give them out in time.

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think a huge problem many companies have is a lack of employee and peer recognition, or they have recognition tools in place but people don’t actually use them. HeyTaco makes recognition super easy and fun, and my organization uses it all the time. As a result, there’s a lot of employee recognition happening, which really makes people feel good.

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> Ooo we love this one — because it’s good news 🌮✨

First: thank you for sharing that feedback. Requests like this are exactly how we shape HeyTaco.

And here’s the update: stickers no longer expire. 🙌

We heard from teams that it felt frustrating to unlock something fun and then worry about “using it in time.” So we changed it. Once you’ve unlocked a sticker, it’s yours to use — no countdown, no disappearing act.

What still resets is unlock progress toward earning new stickers (to encourage consistent recognition habits), but your earned stickers are safe and ready whenever the moment strikes.

We’re incredibly grateful for feedback like yours. A lot of our best improvements come directly from thoughtful users who care about making recognition better.

Keep the stickers flowing 🌮💛

  ### 7. Fun Way to Share Appreciation, but Needs More Options Than Just Tacos

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas D. | product developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2025

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

tacos are a fun way to spread some love through the workplace.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

I would like to give hot dogs. I would like to give hugs. I'd like to give all sorts of other things. Would be cool if an org could allow for additional items other than tacos.. I know, I know.. but it wasn't like twitter started as a right wing propaganda tool -- that is just what it became. Initially it was to share low character count updates that allowed for fast engagement and trends to hit quickly allowing the sharing of events in real time across the world.

Maybe this is a really bad example, I don't think adding hot dogs or other things for people to give would lead in this direction.

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

employee morale? Or is it? When you have a limited amount of tacos, are only the people that are your high performers getting tacos? Is your team using tacos to help rise the people that don't get the attention?

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful (and entertaining 😊) review!

We love hearing that tacos have been a fun way for your team to spread appreciation—creating moments of genuine “hey, I see you” is exactly what we’re here for 🌮

On the hot dogs / hugs / other things front: you’re definitely not the first person to ask! We’ve been very intentional about keeping one shared currency. It may sound small, but having a single, playful symbol helps teams build a common language of gratitude rather than fragmenting recognition into lots of different “things.” That consistency is what turns tacos from a novelty into a real habit. (Also, tacos have a pretty strong track record 😉)

Your question about morale and who receives tacos is an important one—and it gets to the heart of why HeyTaco is designed the way it is. The daily taco limit exists to encourage thoughtful, intentional recognition, not popularity contests or “spray and pray” shoutouts. When used well, we often see tacos go to people who might otherwise fly under the radar—helpful teammates, behind-the-scenes contributors, and folks doing the unglamorous but essential work.

Like any tool, the impact depends on how a team uses it, but our goal is always to make recognition more inclusive, more visible, and more human.

We really appreciate you sharing both the praise and the questions—it’s conversations like these that help teams get the most out of HeyTaco. 🌮💛

  ### 8. We Love HeyTaco!! Worth It Once You See Everything It Offers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mahsa D. | COO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

We love HeyTaco!!

I have to say, I was skeptical about the value at first, until I learned more about everything they offer. Now I genuinely recommend using them.

On top of that, they seem like good people and are very open to feedback, in case that matters to you! :)

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

This is a tough one. I feel like whatever I dislike is just a setting I can change.

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps employees appreciate one another and recognize each other’s contributions through rewards.

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> Mahsa, thank you for the kind words 🌮❤️ This review made our day. Thank you for being a part of the Taco Economy!

  ### 9. Great Team Building Addition to Slack!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erica T. | Project Management Team Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2026

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

I love that it seemlessly integrates into our regular workday. Our company is remote-first and this is a wonderful way to reward one another and spark joy amongst our various team members nationwide.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

It's not quite as easy to find the stickers (ie. a Taco Boquet). It would be great if you could see your "taco shop" directly in Slack instead of logging into a browser and use it all in one spot.

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Celebrating our broader teams' wins and recognition.

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> We love hearing this — recognition that fits naturally into the workday is exactly what HeyTaco is built for 🌮💛 And we’re especially glad it’s sparking joy across a remote-first team.

On stickers: great news — you don’t need to leave Slack to give them. You can view and send stickers right in Slack using the /stickers command. That’ll show you the stickers you have available so you can drop a Taco Bouquet (or any other sticker) right where the celebration is happening.

The Taco Shop itself still lives in the browser for rewards and redemptions, but day-to-day recognition — tacos and stickers — can stay fully in Slack.

Thanks for sharing your experience and for helping celebrate wins across your team 🌮✨

  ### 10. Essential for Team Recognition, Could Use More Flexible Redemption Settings

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leslie G. | Vice President of Customer Success, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2025

**What do you like best about HeyTaco?**

It really allows our team to celebrate each other and recognize the work and support that people are doing. We started using it during COVID as a means to stay connected and it's now become an integral part of our team culture. It is really easy to implement and use for both the management and the team members. And it's just a fun tool. We use it literally every day.

**What do you dislike about HeyTaco?**

The only thing I can think of is that the settings for redemption could be more complex - we had to set up some different "levels" ourself for people who've been at the company different lengths of time and that would be a cool feature to have natively.

**What problems is HeyTaco solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Employee recognition in a remote environment
Keeping the workplace fun

**Official Response from Una Japundza:**

> Thank you so much for this thoughtful review — it means a lot to hear that HeyTaco became part of your culture during COVID and has stayed an everyday ritual 🌮

We love that it’s helping your team stay connected, recognized, and having fun — especially in a remote environment.

And thank you for the feedback around more advanced redemption settings. That’s a really thoughtful suggestion, and we appreciate you sharing how you’ve creatively built levels to support tenure. Ideas like this help shape how we think about future improvements.

Thanks again for being such an engaged part of the HeyTaco community!
