The most helpful part of ABBYY fine scanner is that it scans the highest quality of image though it just runs on a mobile device. It provides very high OCR precision in plain text mode and it keeps the format very well, without useless formats and blank text boxes (which I saw often in some other scanning software). Pricing might be a reason that our organization finally stopped using ABBYY -- either the project based or subscription based pricing model costs a lot for our org and we finally switched to some cheaper solutions. One other issue is that the OCR functionality doesn't work well on non-Latin characters like Russian and Chinese -- which is the common problem for most of the OCR solutions on market -- perhaps they just do not have so many dataset to train the machine learning model.
