## Epicor Prophet 21 Reviews
 ### 1. Highly Customizable, Tricky Troubleshooting

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mathieu L. | Affiliated property & casualty insurance agent, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

I use Epicor Prophet 21 mainly for distribution, service, maintenance through the service order, and rental. What I really like about it is how it centralizes everything, making it easier to keep track of things. It centralizes all our workflows from acquiring an asset to financing, dealing with the customer, and managing the distribution parts, including freight. This control over the full workflow of our inventory in a centralized manner is a huge benefit. I also appreciate the ability to customize Epicor Prophet 21; it comes with all necessary features already included in the package, but its flexibility allows us to meet the specific demands of different clients by tailoring it to our needs.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

One of the hardest parts about Epicor Prophet 21 as an analyst or a developer is the troubleshooting part. Even though it's possible to customize and go quite deep, it can get hard to troubleshoot. There's a lot of places, like the business rules, that can be applied in different ways, fields, and windows. It gets hard sometimes to just track when there's an issue, like if a field is being changed by a business rule triggered by another change. So, it can get tricky to track back what's causing the issue. As far as the audit, logs, and everything else, it can be hard to get all that. Also, I've heard that the initial setup was tricky, especially the transfer to the web client.

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epicor Prophet 21 centralizes everything, allowing us to streamline and control the entire workflow of our inventory, from acquiring an asset to distribution, in a centralized manner.

**Official Response from Sam Malecek:**

> Thank you for your thoughtful feedback, Mathieu!

We’re glad to hear Epicor Prophet 21 is helping centralize your workflows and provide the flexibility your team needs across distribution, service, and rental operations.

We also appreciate your candid comments on troubleshooting and visibility. In highly customizable environments, we recognize that diagnosing issues can be complex, and we’re continuously investing in tools, logging, and resources to make troubleshooting and system transparency easier. Additionally, we’re always working to improve onboarding and the web client experience. If you are currently facing any issues that are hampering your day-to-day, please reach out to customerreviews@epicor.com and we will get you connected to the right internal team.

Thanks again for sharing your experience—it helps us continue to improve!

 ### 2. Reliable software for Distribution & inventory management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yash S. | Quality Assurance Officer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

With recent update prophet 21 is became much faster and more better to use. I felt its impressive in speed and performance. It has enhanced inventory control capabilities and improved reporting functionalities. Order processing and accounting is become more organised and user interface is more user friendly when using in daily tasks. Its integration with other business applications makes it convenient option and it streamlines the process. The software is very adaptable to the requirements of our business operation

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

This software satisfies our business operation well and new version of prophet 21 is easier and faster to use than its previous version. However there is still a learning process to start use of application and sometime it glitches when big amount of data is being handled. Some more upgrades and maintenance services are still crucial for ensuring stable operation

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prophet helps in managing various challenges.
It helps in supply chain management, enhanced customer interations & satisfaction by centralizing customer information, order history & preferences. Helps optimize stock levels, reduce carrying costs & minimises stockouts through efficient tracking and forcasting. Streamlines the order to cash process. Provides the integrated financial tools for accurate accounting. Last but not the least adapts to the evolving needs of business, making it suitable for our team

 ### 3. Epicor Prophet 21: Flexible, Distribution-Focused ERP with Strong Microsoft Integration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

What I like most about Epicor Prophet 21 is that it’s designed specifically for distribution businesses, and it does a great job balancing deep operational functionality with a more modern, Microsoft-based ecosystem. It brings sales, purchasing, inventory, accounting, and warehouse workflows together in a single platform, which helps streamline day-to-day work across departments and keeps processes more consistent.

Another key strength is its flexibility around reporting and integrations. P21 works well with SQL Server, Power BI, Excel, and other Microsoft technologies, which makes it easier to build dashboards, automate reporting, and connect with external systems than many older ERP platforms.

I also appreciate how well it supports detailed distribution workflows, including pricing structures, order processing, inventory management, and wireless warehouse operations. At the same time, it remains customizable enough to fit different business processes without forcing everything into a one-size-fits-all approach.

From an IT and administration standpoint, the web-based architecture, API capabilities, and broader ecosystem support make it easier to maintain, troubleshoot, and expand over time compared with more legacy distribution ERPs.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

One of my biggest frustrations with Epicor Prophet 21 is that performance and responsiveness can be inconsistent at times, especially in cloud-hosted environments or during peak usage. Certain screens, inquiries, or processes can feel slower than expected for users who spend most of the day working in the system.

Another challenge is that while P21 is highly customizable, that same flexibility can also add complexity. Over time, customizations, Dynachanges, reports, integrations, and third-party add-ons can make an environment harder to troubleshoot, upgrade, and properly document. Some workflows also still feel like a blend of legacy design patterns alongside newer web-based functionality.

Reporting and data access are strong, but fully leveraging them often requires technical knowledge of SQL, views, business rules, and the underlying database structure. For companies without solid internal IT or BI resources, that can become a real limitation.

There can also be gaps between different modules or tools within the Epicor ecosystem, where certain features feel less unified than you’d expect from modern cloud-native ERP platforms. Upgrades, printing configurations, and integrations can sometimes require more vendor coordination and troubleshooting effort than anticipated.

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epicor Prophet 21 helps address the challenge of managing complex distribution operations by bringing inventory, purchasing, sales, accounting, warehouse management, and customer information into one unified system. As a result, the business gains clearer visibility into day-to-day activity and can rely less on disconnected spreadsheets and manual processes.

One of the biggest advantages is stronger operational efficiency. Teams can process orders more quickly, track inventory in real time, manage purchasing with greater accuracy, and respond to customer needs in a more timely way. By standardizing workflows and keeping data centralized across departments, it also helps reduce errors and inconsistencies.

P21 is particularly useful for reporting and business intelligence because it provides access to detailed operational data that supports dashboards, KPIs, forecasting, and overall decision-making. This makes it easier for management to identify trends, monitor performance, and make better-informed operational and financial decisions.

It also supports scalability through integrations with other business systems, automation tools, wireless warehouse processes, and reporting platforms. Overall, the system improves productivity, visibility, and operational control while helping support long-term business growth.

 ### 4. Controller

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

I like the reconciliation features in Epicor Prophet 21, and I find the report studio easy to use. The software provides continuous monitoring of RNI and inventory, offering management visibility to ensure proper values.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

Inventory costing is an issue for us. We are on MAC, and validating the cost of inventory is very time-consuming and tedious. The initial setup was also time-consuming, and while the consultants were generally very good, they were pretty high level. Having experts in accounting and supply chain who understand how they tie together would have been beneficial.

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epicor Prophet 21 helps with tracking inventory and improving financial visibility. It offers continuous monitoring of RNI, ensures proper value visibility for management, and features easy-to-use reconciliation and report tools.

**Official Response from Sam Malecek:**

> Thanks for sharing this helpful feedback, Michelle!

Great to hear Prophet 21 is helping with things like reconciliation, reporting, and RNI monitoring — that’s where P21 should shine. We're also happy to hear you had a good experience with our consultants!

Totally get the frustrations you mentioned around the initial implementation and inventory costing, and it’s something we’re consistently working to improve.

If things are getting in your way day-to-day, I’d recommend connecting with your dedicated Account Manager to explore ways to maximize the tools you have available to you, or by exploring the Epicor Learning Center (linked below). Please feel free to reach out to us at customerreviews@epicor.com to get connected with the right internal team.

 ### 5. Versatile and User-Friendly with Customization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** stephan p. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

I find Epicor Prophet 21 to be very powerful and user-friendly, with numerous options for modification and planning. The distribution tools are particularly impressive. I appreciate the ability to extract detailed information about sales and purchases, which is crucial for evaluating purchase performance against customer backorders or stock shortages.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

I think an area that could be improved in Epicor Prophet 21 is the alerts or suggestions about better purchasing methods for specific items or suppliers. Managing items with erratic sales or suppliers who only have a few items can be challenging, especially with long review cycles.

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epicor Prophet 21 enhances my analysis of item movement, supports detailed sales and purchase reports, and helps evaluate purchasing performance versus back orders or stock issues.

 ### 6. Flexible Yet Underdeveloped ERP Solution

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** AJ B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

I like the fact that Epicor Prophet 21 is a very flexible software. Even if out of the box the solution doesn't have the option I'm looking for, there's always a workaround by using SQL or SSRS.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

Many features aren't developed enough or are too basic. Reports are not very insightful. Feels like developers don't necessarily know what they are building the tools for. The integration was quite difficult because we were coming from a very basic accounting software with an add-on software.

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epicor Prophet 21 serves as the data hub for our transactions, enabling process integration. Its flexibility with SQL and SSRS workarounds reduces liabilities from external solutions needed with previous ERPs.

**Official Response from Sam Malecek:**

> Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, AJ —we really appreciate the detail. It’s great to hear the flexibility of Prophet 21 is delivering value, especially with the ability to extend functionality using SQL and SSRS when needed.

We also hear your concerns around feature maturity, reporting depth, and the complexity of integration. Those are important areas, and your feedback highlights where continued refinement can make a stronger impact—particularly in usability and setup for teams coming from simpler systems. If you’re facing any issues that are affecting your day-to-day, please reach out to us at customerreviews@epicor.com and we can get you connected with the right team.

Appreciate the balanced perspective—it’s helpful as we keep improving the overall experience.

 ### 7. Versatile but Needs Streamlined Interface

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

I like the use of text instead of codes in Epicor Prophet 21, which is a big improvement over Mincron. I also like that everything is searchable. If I don't know a part number, I can look it up easily using text searching.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

It's slow at times, and sometimes visually can be overcomplicated. I think there are too many screens in general; I wish more screens did a greater number of things instead of breaking tasks up into multiple screens (like printing functionality).

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Epicor Prophet 21 for orders, accounting, transfers, and more. I like the text interface and searchability, making it easy to find parts even without knowing the part number.

**Official Response from Sam Malecek:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience—we appreciate the thoughtful feedback! It’s great to hear that the text-based interface and search functionality are making it easier to find what you need, especially when part numbers aren’t readily available. That kind of usability can make a real difference in day-to-day tasks.

We also hear your concerns around performance and the overall interface. Navigating multiple screens or experiencing slowdowns can definitely impact efficiency, and we recognize the importance of streamlining workflows so users can accomplish more in fewer steps. This is an area we’re continuing to refine, with a focus on improving both speed and usability. If you’re willing, we invite you to submit your ideas for product improvements at https://epicor.ideas.aha.io/

Thanks again for highlighting both what’s working well and where we can do better—it’s valuable input as we continue to evolve Prophet 21!

 ### 8. Strong for Distribution, Needs Better Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

I find Epicor Prophet 21 to be very strong for the distribution business. It has just enough limited flexibility to adapt to distribution-centric business needs. I appreciate the programmability tools that allow me to extend its capabilities to meet specific business rules and workflows that are valuable to my operations. Additionally, I integrate it with many other tools through various APIs, integration tools like the Workato Automation Studio, and traditional file-level interfaces, enhancing its functionality within my suite of tools.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

There's still quite a bit of inflexibility that makes it difficult when moving out of core distribution functions. Even though they've added modules for other areas, many of them are too weak for seriously operating those areas. Support is particularly weak and relies on the customer having advanced in-house knowledge to prove problems are in the product and not the customer's doing.

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epicor Prophet 21 runs the end-to-end workflow for business transactions and inventory management, providing strong support for the distribution business with flexibility for distribution-centric needs through programability tools.

 ### 9. Great Customization, Overall Solid Experience

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

Customization within each transaction. Each user is able to set up to their personal preferences and liking. Having the ability to make dyna changes to our companies needs is a major plus.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

The bugs after each update. Screens changing after each update. Sometimes the user may not like the changes after the update. It would be nice if the courses updated when the system did.

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working with support on our bugs is a big benefit. Sharing the database and troubleshooting with support helps a ton. It would be convenient if there was a live chat or if we could have a teams call option to handle issues in real time.

**Official Response from Sam Malecek:**

> Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, Lucas!

It’s great to hear the level of customization and flexibility is making a difference for your team, especially when it comes to adapting transactions to fit your day-to-day needs. We’re also glad to know you’ve had positive interactions with our support team—they work hard to be a strong partner when issues come up.

That said, we hear you on the challenges around updates, particularly with bugs, interface changes, and training content keeping pace. Your feedback highlights how important consistency and clear communication are, and it’s something we’re actively working to improve across releases and enablement resources. If you're willing, please feel free to submit your ideas for product improvements at https://epicor.ideas.aha.io/

We appreciate the thoughtful input—including your suggestion around more real-time support options—and thanks again for helping us continue to make Prophet 21 a better solution.

 ### 10. Average ERP with Customization but Needs Better Support

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Epicor Prophet 21?**

I find that Epicor Prophet 21 keeps good accountability with accounting GL transactions. I also like that it can be customized. The initial setup of Epicor Prophet 21 was easy.

**What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?**

Epicor Prophet 21 is kind of a middle-of-the-road ERP. The focus seems to be off-centered from customer desires, prioritizing new bells and whistles over basic functionality. For example, changing location on orders and copying orders could be smoother. The security aspect is a pain since it is menu-based, unlike how other ERPs handle security. From a user perspective, the support needs improvement. There's a lot of opportunity to improve and plenty of low-hanging fruit for a better customer experience. It also lacks better, more real-world handling of scenarios.

**What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epicor Prophet 21 helps with accounting GL transactions by keeping good accountability. However, it's a middle-of-the-road ERP with improvements needed in customer-focused features and security.

**Official Response from Sam Malecek:**

> Thank you for sharing this helpful feedback!

We're happy to hear that Prophet 21 has been working well as your distribution ERP, especially around areas like accounting. We're also happy that your initial implementation went smoothly!

Though we are focused on constant innovation and enhancing our products to empower our partners like you, we know there are always areas we can improve on, such as smoothing out the order location change and order copying process. We would love for you to share your ideas for product improvements at Epicor.Ideas.aha.io .

We also understand how critical timely support is, and your experience helps us identify where we need to improve consistency and responsiveness. If you are currently facing any issues that are holding up your day-to-day operations, please reach out to us at customerreviews@epicor.com and we will work to get your case escalated with our support staff.
