I recommend GeoHECRAS for everyone working in Floodplain analysis and modeling hydraulic structures. It is my advice for the company to access the software for the undeveloped countries at a fair price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I can conduct floodplain analysis and generate floodplains using terrain data. Linework can be exported to CAD, while summary tables can be exported to Excel for further analysis. The floodplain map and HEC-RAS cross-sections, when exported in CAD format, facilitate the creation of standard floodplain maps. Summary tables exported in Excel are useful for preparing reports and analyzing water elevation, velocity, and other hydraulic parameters.

The model supports both 1D and 2D hydraulic analysis, making it easier to size hydraulic structures using GeoHEC-RAS software. Its performance has greatly enhanced my efficiency and productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

AutoCAD's files structure doesnt feature categorizing a design file into parts, componets and bodies, its sees all as one, making it less suitable for 3D designs practices

AutoCAD design is mostly manipulated geometrically instead of parametrically, certain operations and task would be difficult and time consuming to carry out manually and repetitively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In the latest years, AutoCAD incoperated advance levels of automation,file manipulation and data management,this has made the use of the software for managing large projects and performing repetitive task more easy. I can easily add fresh/waste water supply layouts to building plans, without fear of inconsitency ,missing refrences, file acess & control etc. With AutoCAD 3D (solid,surface and mesh), i can easily generate freehand 3D concepts which i would develop later on a sister software. Like all new software, there are bugs that need to be worked out. Units shown on results tables sometimes are not what I am accustomed to seeing but that is easily fixed by contacting tech support. No major dislikes.

It streamlines the hydrologic analysis by making HMS used friendly and allowing the creation of output and input tables to put in the reports that are submitted to reviewing agencies.

(Update) GeoHECHMS has helped when working on very large watersheds by speeding up the navigation within the model and any modifications to the model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

While SketchUp excels in many areas, there are a few drawbacks, especially when it comes to 3D printing. The software isn’t specifically designed for creating models intended for 3D printing, which can lead to issues like non-manifold geometry, overlapping faces, or gaps in the model. These issues often require additional time for troubleshooting and fixing before a model is ready for printing.

Additionally, the precision tools in SketchUp, while sufficient for many design tasks, can sometimes feel limiting when exact measurements and tolerances are critical for 3D printing. Molte poche cose; utilizzo Zwcad praticamente da sempre, da quando era distribuito in maniera free e l'ho crescere ed evolversi in maniera esponenziale fino ad oggi e diventare un vero e proprio concorrente del più blasonato software che tutti conosciamo. Sicuramente ancora qualche crash di troppo o implementare ancora di più i comandi di modellazione 3d ma sono sicuramente sulla strada giusta. Peccato che stia crescendo un pò troppo anche il prezzo...ne comprendo le ragioni ma verrebbe meno uno dei principali punti di forza. Still no possibility to place small labels, logos or simple textures on partial surfaces within an assembly (such as stickers in Solidworks). If you want to see something like this, you either have to use the Render Studio or imprint the labeling correctly into the geometry... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Nothing springs to mind as I write this review and in my world if something isn't right or likable then ask questions and usually there will be a work around so something which may seem to be a negative should really be treated as a learning experience and look for ways through the issue. We have a large team over here and with ARES we have good collaborative features like Commenting on the drawing, picture note and Version history. Which really helped us to cut down our overall project completion time.

Solid Edge helps in designing complex 3D models and assemblies with precision, reducing manual errors. It streamlines the entire product development process, from concept to manufacturing. Assemblies are a bit difficult to do, its way different than in other software, but once you find the right tool you can do it as easy as in other CAD/CAM software Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use it for the FIRST Robotics Competition with my students, the best thing that we have is that every part is saved on the cloud, so I can perfectly work in different computers and different locations without having to carry one with me, also it saves a lot of trouble we had before as we experienced compatibility issues with other software Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

You need to master how planes work, if you intend to asemble your parts and components easily, simulating real world relationship between the parts via the asssembly enviroment.

You need to fully understand assembly modeling especially if you are working on a large project with over a thousand part. etc

You need to understand the file structuring and basic file handling within inventor, else you would run into constant erros trying to reuse or locate design files. Sometimes the errors can cost you the clients trust if not managed properly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ilogic feature in inventor basically hands me the power to automate my design, create variations and initaite design configurationns in a controlled manner. This leads to my ability to meet clients need in the shortest possible time.

Adopting Inventor for my product design workflow makes the entire experince smooth. I am giving the ability to implement and insert fastners, mechanical weldments, belt and chain drives, mechanical frames an others, through calculated, and analysis-based processes,thus making informed design decisions.

Basically, an ADMS console is required to set up a server, then an Autodesk vault client is set up for authoring of design data into the sever, via dedicated file structures. All i did was to link Inventor to my Autodesk vault, then all my designs from inventor was easily checked in and out of the vault, ensuring proper design documentation , control, and secuirty, to mention a few. I have only used one of the many diagram formats within SD, so I do not have a lot of experience to be able to answer this very thoroughly. Iniatially, I had several aspects that I was not enjoying about SD, but after being coached by Ms. Vanessa Solis as to the correct way to utilize the various features within SD, I no longer have any dislikes. Product design and review drawing creation

I am satisfied with it in many ways and use it well because it is compatible with Solidworks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's parametric block design compared to AutoCAD's dynamic blocks. I HATE how the visibility states can be outside of the block so that when you explode a block that has visibilities will then be put into the dwg outside of the block. This causes crazy lag if you need to explode multiple blocks. This requires you to use the DEPARAMETRIZE command before you explode, but this also removes the imported fields inside the blocks. Not ideal. I also do not like how when you copy and paste an entity inside of a block that is tied to a visibility, it copies and pastes that visibility again. (Because you can have more than one visibility inside of a block... cool idea, but now I see why AutoCAD doesn't allow it) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The price of AutoCAD is crazy high, so we went to BricsCAD which as a daily user (excluding parametric block creation), is the same. So, it saves us buckets of cash year after year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Professional roads and drainage drawing and design creation and to analys stormwater and easy management of multiple projects document is perfect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are plenty of tutorials up already, but it is a more niche product than OnShape, which is a more niche product than Fusion360, so I feel like the community to seek and give help is a little smaller, but that is a bit outside Shapr's control.

Also, there is the cost. If I didn't have an edu account, I likely would never have even given Shapr a shot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The problem it is solving are primarily functional problems. That is to say, if something is broken, or something can be improved with a bespoke designed tool or attachment, Shapr comes in handy to quickly and easily design something. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

With the help of Altium Designer, we have redesigned the PCB as 6-layer board with differential pairs of matched impedance. These changes helped in passing the EMC testing, resulting in product launch on the market.

Altium Designer's API with major component suppliers and IHS market help a lot during component selection process. We save a ton of time now, as pretty much every component that is needed has REACH and RoHS information, which helps us in making the decesion on whether the component can be used or not in the early stage of the deisng. It doesn't have as many options to offer as the competitors when it comes to solution partners for CAM, FEA and so on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It has parametric capability for quick creation of common models and these models are easily accessed from catalogs. On top of that, it also has attachment points and which makes it very fast to attach and configure several parametric models together.

At least 50% of our modeling is custom made and we can do that several times faster than in any other CAD program using Innovative parts, handles and Triball. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
