Job Costing Software

Typically, Job Costing is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best Job Costing Software.

Job costing is used to track the cost of a product or service and the revenue generated from it. In turn, this helps to determine profit margins on a job-by-job basis and identify overall profits and losses for the offering. Job costing can be performed using a variety of software including project management systems, professional service automation tools, project-based ERP, ERP suites, or (for a more bootstrap approach) time tracking solutions. All of these tools offer features for tracking the amount of time, effort, and resources that go into an offering and allows users to easily break that down to determine total profits. Job costing is heavily used in the construction industry as well, and there are many products catered specifically to construction accounting.

“Organizing tasks, projects, product and people made simple and fun”
What do you like best about monday Work Management?

monday is, compared to its comptetitors, extremely easy to use. It makes it easy to implement and establish new workflows. I'm using it to organize my daily tasks as well as my whole company - not only for tasks but for organizing contacts, leads, people and customer projects alike.

It is very easy to integrate other tools such as Miro into monday which makes it a complete one-for-all solution. I use monday everyday and I would miss a big piece in my workflow if I stopped monday.

The customer support is extraordinary, I've ran into a major issue which was solved immedately.

Overall monday wins against its competitors in every aspect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about monday Work Management?

That you can only subscribe with at least 3 users - I'd wish there was an option for only subscribe with one user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Asana Implementation”
What do you like best about Asana?

What I like best about Asana is how easy it was to implement across our organization. The intuitive interface made onboarding seamless, and the prebuilt dashboards provided immediate visibility into project progress without the need for extensive customization. Additionally, the easy navigation and user-friendly design make it simple for end-users at all levels to adopt and stay engaged with their tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

You cannot assign multiple assignees to a task. You must either create subtasks or a custom field to achieve this goal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?

Asana is solving key challenges around project visibility, accountability, and consistency. Prior to implementation, project tracking varied widely across teams, leading to missed deadlines, unclear responsibilities, and duplicated efforts. With Asana, we now have a centralized platform that provides real-time visibility into project progress, clearer ownership of tasks, and standardized workflows. This has improved cross-functional collaboration, reduced status update meetings, and allowed leadership to make more informed decisions based on live project data Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“All business owners need Smartsheets!!”
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

Smartsheet has streamlined our workflow and heavily increased my team's productivity. I own a busy pool company and I hate having to have things all over the place in multiple systems. Smartsheets has given me a solution that allows me to keep track of everything, all in one place. My employees utilize the system to track their calls, productivity, client info, workday tasks, etc. This allows us to not only keep track of what the team is working on, but also to see what calls have already been made and which tasks have already been completed, saving time and manpower. I love that we are no longer "double dipping" and wasting resources by completing tasks that have already been done. This has been a total gamechanger for our business and I recommend smartsheet for all businesses! There is so much that you can do on the platform and it is worth every bit of the cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

There have been times where I have needed to get in contact with support due to errors with the system. This is a rare occurrence, but I wish that there was a customer support number to call, or even a better chat system, as the current one is useless and you cannot reach anyone if you need help or if there is an issue. That has been the only downside to smartsheet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before using Smartsheet, we had things all over the place. It has been crucial being able to keep track of everything all in one convenient system. In the past, information would get lost or it would be in so many places, it either wouldn't get utilized, or we would waste a lot of time and energy tracking it down. This has been so much more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Notion: A Game Changer for Productivity and Organization”
What do you like best about Notion?

What I like best about Notion is how flexible it is. You can use it for everything—from taking simple notes to managing big projects. It’s really easy to customize, so I can set it up in a way that works perfectly for me. Plus, it keeps everything in one place, so I don’t have to jump between different apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notion?

What I don’t like about Notion is that it can be a bit overwhelming at first. There are so many features, and it can take time to learn how to use them all effectively. Also, while it’s great for organizing, it can sometimes feel slow, especially when you have a lot of pages or content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

Notion solves the problem of having to use multiple apps to stay organized. Instead of switching between note-taking apps, task managers, and calendars, I can keep everything in one place. The lack of a more affordable, restricted-use license for senior leadership is an issue—we don’t need full access but still want to view key data.

What do you dislike about Syncro?

The only downside is not having more RMM options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“A Central Hub That Still Has Some Rough Edges”
What do you like best about Procore?

It centralizes project info and keeps everything in one place. It’s helpful to have that level of organization, especially when you’re juggling a bunch of moving parts. The mobile app is solid too, which makes field updates easier. It keeps the whole team aligned and cuts down on the email clutter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Procore?

It can feel bloated at times—like there are too many modules doing too many things, and not all of them work as smoothly as they should. The UI can be frustrating, especially for tasks that should be quick. Some workflows feel overly rigid, like the system was built for how they think projects should run instead of adapting to how we actually do things. Additionally, the mobile app does not support Bidding integration, which is a large part of my job that is inaccessible via mobile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Procore solving and how is that benefiting you?

It reduces miscommunication and helps track project progress without needing a million spreadsheets or emails. Being able to assign tasks, track changes, and store all documentation in one place cuts down on time wasted chasing info. “Manage from simple to complex projects”
What do you like best about Jira?

The best thing about Jira is its ability to organize sprints and especially to visualize the workflow with Kanban boards. Everything is managed in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira?

Jira is a very powerful tool and has incredibly useful tools for project management, task tracking, and teamwork. However, if you are new and have no prior experience with similar tools (or do not handle basic concepts of agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban), it can be overwhelming at first.

Jira's initial tutorial is very technical and does not always explain 'why' or 'how' to apply each function in real cases. For example, things like Workflows, Epics, or even the basic use of filters can be confusing if you lack context. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?

Disorganization in task management:

We used to use emails, spreadsheets, and even physical notes. Everything got lost.

→ Now all the work is centralized in one place with clear statuses (To Do/In Progress/Completed).

Lack of visibility of real progress:

The bosses constantly asked "how's it going?" and no one had clear answers.

→ With Kanban boards and Jira reports (like the Burndown Chart), everyone sees the progress in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is NetSuite solving and how is that benefiting you?

“Airtable for archives”
What do you like best about Airtable?

I have found Airtable's interface to be very user-friendly. It has a powerful structure to take in and share out data in various formats. I like the different interfaces you can build off of 1 table. I appreciate the ability to have people fill out forms that load data into the tables without having to have a license for each individual who is filling out a form. Super easy to change data types, labels, and most everything in Airtable, but I also appreciate the warnings it gives if you're about to impact data in a different, linked base. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

We're still trying to figure out how best to link data between tables and bases. The other main challenge we have is figuring out what the primary key field should contain so that it is a unique id. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are using Airtable for a film digitization project. We have bases that track inventory, metadata, digitization, quality control, assets, and more. It allows us to craft forms that students can fill out to populate the bases' tables as they do the work. It also allows us to track progress and provides us with data we can share with stakeholders. This application is great! It’s simple to use and makes communication smooth and efficient. Sending messages is fast and reliable, and it’s perfect for keeping colleagues in the loop with the latest company updates and news. It really helps everyone stay connected and informed. Highly recommended for teams that need to stay organized and up to date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

While Slack is a great communication tool, there are a few things that could be improved. Sometimes, it can feel a bit overwhelming with too many channels and notifications, making it easy to miss important messages. Also, the search function, while useful, isn’t always the most intuitive or accurate. Lastly, the app can be a bit heavy on system resources, especially when running in the background all day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

Slack solves the problem of scattered communication by bringing all team conversations into one organized platform. I also appreciate how it has steadily improved with features like templates, calendar views, and power-ups that adapt to both simple and complex workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

While Trello is excellent for organizing and visualizing tasks, it can become cluttered when managing larger or more detailed projects. Also, some advanced functionality (like timeline or Gantt views) requires paid add-ons or upgrades, which may be limiting for teams on a tight budget. Native reporting tools are still a bit basic compared to other platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Unanet GovCon?

It didn't take long to explore the features within the application. The graphics are clear, and the steps are intuitive in regards to adding time, and viewing receipts and leave balances. As a Program Manager, I also found it very easy to approve leave and track my team's time. I like the current timesheet graphic (see screenshot), and the ability see hours for each day. It would be even better if the hours were color-coded by charge number so that I could easily distinguish chargeable hours from management hours at a glance. Another add to the graphic that I would find useful is "worked hours vs available hours" so that I could plan for the remainder of the month. This would help me if I was trying to reach monthly time goals. In summary, I found this application to be informative, intuitive, and easy to navigate from both my phone and my tablet. “How Bordio simplified our workflow: a simple solution for our growing team's needs”
What do you like best about Bordio?

A huge advantage for us is the convenience and minimalism of the interface. Our team consists of many young people who are used to simplicity, and when we tried to implement other solutions (we tried OrangeScrum, Odoo, Trello, Jira), they were almost always met with resistance because they were complex and inconvenient. Another big plus is the excellent mobile applications, which do not glitch, unlike many other systems, and they are very useful for quick work, especially during meetings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bordio?

There are two minor features we currently miss in Bordio: the ability to export timesheets and a clock timer for tasks. We've provided feedback on these, and we understand they'll be included in upcoming updates. These small drawbacks don't significantly impact our overall positive experience with the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Bordio solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are a small team, and before we started using a task management system, we used WhatsApp to assign tasks to each other. However, as our team grew, it turned into complete chaos. We were overwhelmed with an enormous number of chats, information got lost, and it was difficult to track who didn't complete a task when needed.

Our work efficiency increased, team communication sped up, and Bordio's clear interface made it easy to plan sprints. Most importantly, we can now always check the work history.

We are still in the process of improving our workflows, but it is clear that Bordio will help us achieve the level of management we are aiming for. In terms of numbers: our turnover increased by 40% last year. Of course, this is the result of comprehensive work, but Bordio is one of the main innovations for us and likely has had a significant impact on this result. “Really Enjoying Wrike So Far”
What do you like best about Wrike?

I've really enjoyed using Wrike — it’s been a smooth transition from our previous application, Jira. Wrike offers a lot of the same functionality I liked about Jira, but with even more flexibility when it comes to customizing workflows and dashboards. It’s been really helpful for keeping projects organized, tracking progress, and collaborating across teams.

The system is intuitive once you get familiar with it, and I appreciate how easy it is to tailor everything to fit different project needs. The reporting tools, in particular, have been a big plus for me. Like any platform, there’s a bit of a learning curve at first, but overall it’s been a great experience, and I’m a big fan of how it supports day-to-day project management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Wrike?

Honestly, I don’t have any real dislikes so far. It did take a little time to adjust coming from Jira, just getting used to the different layout and flow of Wrike. But once I got comfortable, it’s been a really smooth experience. I especially like that I can be easily tagged on tickets to stay updated on my assistants' progress — it keeps everything really organized and easy to track. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Wrike solving and how is that benefiting you?

We primarily use Wrike to submit tickets to our Ad Ops team for trafficking ads we're implementing for our clients. It’s been a great system for keeping everything organized and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. Each ticket includes the key details the Ad Ops team needs — like creative assets, tracking tags, and campaign specs — so they can easily review and traffic the ads. Wrike makes it simple to assign, track, and communicate within each task, which has helped streamline the entire trafficking process and keep projects moving quickly.
