“Salesforce: Its Features, Benefits and Limitations”
What do you like best about Salesforce Platform?

What I appreciate and like best about Salesforce is its flexibility and scalability. The platforms integration of various tools and apps, along with its robust automation and other features makes it an ideal platform for organization/team/business of all sizes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Salesforce Platform?

Probably its complexity and the steep learning curve of it. While it offers extensive features, navigagating and setting up especially for new users or small businesses/organizations. I find the interface a bit cluttered and not as intuitive as they'd like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Salesforce Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?

With Salesforce, we've made communication and operations between our company and bus companies way more efficient. The centralized portal that we have in Salesforce means no more back-and-forth emails, and everything's tracked in one place. Plus, it provides real-time updates so there's always full transparency and accountability. It helps us manage tasks and keeps all the data organized, so we (our company, bus companies and the client) can respond faster and stay on top of requests. It reduces errors and speeds things up. “Polarion ALM - a smart, fast and versatile tool to get a handle on processes”
What do you like best about Polarion?

Polarion can be used universally for almost all processes and process models (A-SPICE, CMMI, DO-*, GMP, GAMP, ISO9001, ...) in product, system and software development and beyond. Unfortunately, when purchasing ALM software, the focus is usually on development. If you don't have a good consultant at your side, you won't use the ALM tool to its full potential and neglect areas such as operational risk management, lessons learned, team management or customer management.

In a recent conversation, someone said to me that Polarion is like a speedboat. What he actually wanted to tell me is that Polarion can be used for the first projects within a few hours (less than 8 hours for OnPrem installation). Of course, Polarion can also be installed in the company cloud or on a server on the Internet.

Polarion is customizable to the processes in the company.

Areas of application:

# Product, system and software development with agile (SCRUM/Kanban) or classic methods

# Operational quality management as part of a framework such as ISO 9001

# Team organization

# Operational risk management / risk management for the development projects takes place directly in the project

# Lessons learned

# Standard and norms

# Customer management

Areas of application in the project:

Across the entire process world from requirements engineering and test management to problem and change management, release management, planning, task management and much more.

I would also like to say a few words about the support from Siemens regarding Polarion. From my point of view as a consultant and customer, I would sometimes wish for better support. But this is complaining at a very high level. As a consultant, I have come across many other manufacturers where the support was much worse.

We use Polarion ALm on a daily basis, both in-house and with our customers. We operate and maintain systems at the customer's premises. We advise customers on processes, methods and customizations. We are not locusts, but we can implement everything we advise in a corresponding order. The architecture here is based on a number of open quasi-standards and is very easy to maintain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Polarion?

Polarion ALM is definitely not a substitute for a PLM system. Of course, suitable PLM systems can be connected.

Gaps / weaknesses of Polarion are the multiple project management in the classical sense and the resource management over a large number of projects like MS Project does. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Polarion solving and how is that benefiting you?

The Navi8 Consulting team is spread out and communication and a uniform view of the data was not easy.

With the Siemens Polarion ALM software, we have a central point of contact where all data can be accessed by all employees. Thanks to task management, tasks can be clearly delegated and the author is notified of any changes.

Collaboration on company topics such as the installation of an operational quality management system such as ISO9001 can also be easily implemented.

Polarion ALM always adapts to the needs of Navi8. It can be used equally in product, system and software development and also as an inter-company risk management or lessons-learned system.

For us, Siemens Polarion ALM is a tool for many different tasks and activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PractiTest?

It would be fantastic if we could write and run automated scripts directly within the portal, with built-in monitoring, eliminating the need for additional plugins like Jenkins. This capability would streamline our process and make automation even more accessible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PractiTest solving and how is that benefiting you?

The first major benefit we experienced was the seamless onboarding of new team members, thanks to the well-organized requirements and test case documentation. “Excellent product”
What do you like best about Qt?

Qt is an exceptional framework that offers developers a lot out of the box. One of the best aspects of Qt is its versatility and cross-platform capabilities. The most helpful feature of Qt is its extensive collection of ready-to-use widgets and tools, which significantly accelerates the development process. The framework comes with QML which speeds up GUI development significantly. The framework also provides a rich set of functionalities, including GUI, networking, database integration, and multimedia support, which simplifies the implementation of complex applications. Overall, the upsides of using Qt include its excellent documentation, a supportive community, and a vast ecosystem of third-party libraries and plugins, making it a reliable choice for building high-quality applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Qt?

Qt's licensing model is a bit restrictive. While it offers a commercial license for proprietary applications, the open-source version (LGPL) requires dynamic linking, which may impose limitations on certain types of projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Helix ALM?

Covers multiple aspects of the development process, including requirements management, test case management, issue tracking, and source code management.

Integrates well with other tools like Jira, Jenkins, and Git, creating a more seamless workflow.Highly customizable workflows that can be tailored to the specific needs of different teams or projects.

Automated defect detection links failed tests directly to the issue-tracking system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Helix ALM?

Helix ALM is a premium tool, and licensing costs can add up, especially for larger teams.

It may not be the best option for companies looking for budget-friendly solutions. While the tool is highly customizable, setting it up for a specific workflow can take considerable time and effort, which may be challenging for teams with limited technical resources.Although it integrates well with other tools, Helix ALM doesn't natively offer the same level of real-time collaboration features (e.g., chat or collaboration spaces) that some other project management tools do. “Tuleap offers effective back-end event management features for our customer's production environment”
What do you like best about Tuleap?

We find convenience while using Tuleap widgets to overview insights on our Dashboard. Function overriding for our JS & CSS files is less complicated and we can facilitate seamless user interaction in its platform. We opt for Tuleap plugins to provision our Agile Dashboard and Git to capture our events and be aware of any changes made in our codes. Both controller & its plugin info is encapsulated as soon as we enable our custom plugin which is convenient for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tuleap?

We would like to have an auto-refresh feature to reflect recent modifications made in our plugin definitions. As of now, we have to manually refresh the cache to view the changes. Also, we need to ensure that the parameters used in our code must be unique across all events so that there aren't any misconfigurations. It would be great to have an enhancement to simplify this tedious task of maintaining our code structure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tuleap solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are getting familiar with the Tuleap Framework for our event management activities as we started using it recently. It helps organize our regular events which take place through hooks & system events. Unlike other Frameworks, it doesn't impose restrictions on the Event class so we can define constructors, getters, setters and private members as per our requirements. It also gives recommendations for naming our hooks based on the selection of plugins and code execution patterns. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“The best enterprise controlled workflow management”
What do you like best about IBM Engineering Workflow Management?

IBM suite holds all the software development tools from source code to testing, requirements, and data warehouse reports and BI

Since it's all combined and managed, you can have enterprise components of the above list, and they work bi-directionally with each other - so you can force attaching a task to a code that is related to the same user, and it is on the current sprint, the data warehouse capabilities are endless like the live Excel export that you can work on the sheet data offline and get updates when you're connected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Engineering Workflow Management?

The biggest drawback is that IBMers do not use it as their primary source control. So by not promoting it, the popularity declined dramatically, and developers moved to open source code versioning and cloud options where their code resides outside the vendor's premise (e.g., China). So the gist is IBM doesn't promote its product, and so the popularity declines.

The source control plugin supports only Eclipse and Visual Studio clients, making it hard for other IDEs to blend in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is IBM Engineering Workflow Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

The problem solved was force binding code with related tasks since the same vendor controls them, making it possible.

The permission level of each item and attribute is so flexible you could make a work item attribute visible from a specific state and be allowed to modify by one particular group.

It has built-in warnings if you, for example, set a user of the wrong team to a task group would create an alert.

You can set which selected values will be presented based on other selected values, for example, state and city. If you choose a State, it will show only Cities of that state.

Source Control is powerful yet accessible, and you can use right-click menu to get most of your functionality. For example, take a folder from one module and move it with history to another module. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ST
“Mylyn: Eclipse's hidden gem”
What do you like best about Mylyn?

1. I can switch context from one development task to another by a single click! This means seeing only files that are relevant to the task at hand.

2. Mylyn automatically keeps track of the time I spent in Eclipse working on the task. This is extremely cheap, and much more precise than any manual time tracking.

3. Mylyn integrates with JIRA and many other work-management applications. This means I can update JIRA task status without having to leave Eclipse window. It also allows me to attach Mylyn context to JIRA ticket, so that another developer can use it later. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mylyn?

1. I use multiple Eclipse workspaces, one per development branch, and tasks sometimes span branches, i.e., workspaces, but there's no simple, bulletproof way to share the task context among multiple workspaces.

2. Sometimes, one task builds on top of another - it would be useful to start working on a task by copying the context of another, similar task. Currently, I'm not aware of a way to do that in Mylyn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mylyn:

Keep the tasks small, e.g., by leveraging sub-tasks. This will allow you to gain maximal benefits from Mylyn.

Optimal granularity of tasks means <= 7 open files, <= 4 hours to complete the task Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mylyn solving and how is that benefiting you?

1. Focus on a single task at a time. Not seeing irrelevant files in my IDE means less opportunities to get sidetracked. Coupled with fine-grained tasks, Mylyn allows razor-sharp focus, critical for efficient software development.

2. Every time I move from my IDE to a web browser, I risk losing focus on the development task I'm currently working on, by getting distracted either by an open browser window (e.g., Facebook), or by an extension (e.g., new GMail in my inbox). Being able to interact with my work management application without leaving my IDE means fewer distractions, which means being able to finish my development faster and with better quality. It also makes better utilization of CPU power unlike that in single-threaded environments, resulting in faster processing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ReactiveX?

Although reactiveX or reactive programming gives good processing speeds, it consumes a lot of memory to store streams of data. Also it is a bit complex to learn and there is also a lack of resources to learn unlike the object oriented languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ReactiveX solving and how is that benefiting you?

ReaactiveX provides separate spaces for each element to let the user know when the element was triggered, this is opposite to the other programming libraries where you need to keep checking whether a component has been used or not.

This helps us in reducing the code and helps in writing a clean and better code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
