Rebelle is the closest to a real media paint experience I've used yet-- specifically with the way you use your brush to pick up colors like real paint. It lets you pick up a dabs of color from anywhere on the canvas, raise your brush, and have it loaded with that color for your next brushstroke. I like that I can have dual-tone dabs and dirty brushes. And let's not forget the metallic paint, which is what lured me in this time to really sink my teeth into Rebelle 7 Pro and make serious progress despite bouncing off Rebelle 5 years ago. It doesn't completely replace Painter for me, but it doesn't need to-- although there is overlap, both programs really shine at different things. And did I mention those metallics? I'll be using digital gold leaf on everything for the next month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The good old GIMP!
Before all the AI boom and people started to use web browser editors, GIMP was the only real alternative to Photosop.
It's still very powerful, and very convenient.
Works locally, if you don't want to rely on cloud and have all your files locally.
Extensible with plugins. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the simple and easy to use interface. It makes drawings and design 100 times easier. The brush selection rivals photoshop. I love that it's not subscription based and does most if not all of what Photoshop does. You pay one small fee and it's yours for life. It's a great option if you're tired of Adobe's subscription fees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The user interface of Painter is very easy to understand. And the features provided by this software are very nice. I like the software very much. What I like the most is the poster effect you can do layer-wise and you can lock it so that if by mistake no change can happen at that layer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The great thing about the amazing digital pen is its user-friendly layout and wide variety of brushes, which allow us to write or draw easily over any software application.
It also has some of the best animation capabilities I've ever seen, especially for a completely free-to-use application.
Coloration combinations are to be added, which helps differentiate between shades. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Standard paint tool for Manga drawing.
I love CSP for its customizable artboard. You can really personalize it to be something only you know. It also holds similarities to photoshop and illustrator which I already have experience in so it works out for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Built for the latest stylus and touch devices, Adobe Fresco brings together the world’s largest collection of vector and raster brushes, plus revolutionary new Live Brushes, t
Well firstly, I'd like to say I used to be a big fan of painting on Photoshop (yes even over tools like Procreate, PaintTool SAI, Krita, etc). So, when I got to know about Fresco, Adobe already grabbed my attention.
What I really love about Fresco is:
-A familiar interface that is very much similar to other Adobe products.
- It has got the Adobe CC integration and the file can be transferred across other design tools such as Photoshop.
- Wide range of personalised brushes (not as many as Procreate though but compared to Ps) which makes the job easy and looks awesome!
- Works smoothly with my non-digital graphic tablet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything about Krita is just so amazing. I've been using it regularly to edit my photos or design logos. All the tools and web plugins allow users to design whatever they want. I even call it Photoshop Killer. I've had an Adobe Photoshop license but I find Krita so much easier to use that I never got it renewed. The documentation is so well written. I have used Autodesk products daily for over 15 years. From the suite of Autodesk's offerings, I got into Maya first because it was and still is the industry standard for Box Office animation and VFX. Autodesk Maya is a complete, off-the-shelf animation solution for blockbuster films (search IMDB for credits). it's not just a One Man Band tool but also a scaleable, small studio and big production houses tool, like ILM or DreamWorks. It has many components, each being an entire artistic discipline, a job in the market or specialty, such as modeling, rigging, texturing, dynamics, etc. So, it takes a good bit of time to learn, depending on your specialty or if you are a generalist. if you are only trying to learn one component, like modeling or animation, then it's a much, much, much shorter learning curve. You are learning one part instead of ten disciplines. That would be my advice to you. First, only learn what you need like rigging, if you plan to be a studio setup artist. For instance, when I first started, I only needed to know UV's so I can export texture layouts into ElectricImage, which UV was still in development but had FBX import and could import UVs. So by learning one task from Maya, I was able to add a distinct feature to my artwork in EIAS3D. This was a distinct advantage in the look of the images I could produce with the added pay-off delving into the world of Autodesk professional software. The strategy of using Maya for it's uniquely powerful features endowed my abilities. Now I became more marketable because I could export to other apps. This strategy has been a stalwart that I have built a career on. However, now we have auto-UV tools so it's not as in demand but by using the UVs, with a goal, I inadvertently started to learn more and more about Maya. So, UV's lead to modeling, and modeling lead to rigging and rigging lead to animation, which leads to large-scale corporate projects. Before I knew it, I was a professional Maya User running my own studio with a small team. One thing leads to another. So when it comes to learning this suite of tools, don't try to learn everything all at once. Modulize your learning based on your project needs, personal goals, or artistic aspirations. Learn only the parts you need to apply. Yes, I do learn simply for the sake of curiosity but be mindful. 3D exploration can be a rabbit hole to WonderLand,. It makes me curious and curiouser still. Simply put, modern-day 3D Art is phenomenal! But, you don't have to be overwhelmed when learning big apps.
This review is not just about Maya. It's an overview of a full suite of tools that cover each part of the creative workflow needed to produce animation content, projects or creative expression. One would think Maya, with all its functionality, would be enough! That's the thing about Autodesk, they own all the major players for 3D content creation, so what this collection does is offer an across-the-board collection of all the big hitters in their respective genres. SketchBook for Design, Mudbox for sculpting, Maya and Max for 3D content with animation, and intake modules for photogrammetry. So they are covering all the bases by giving you everything under one title, collection or subscription. Some of the tools seem the same, like Max and Maya but it's really in case you use or prefer one over the other. It's a matter of when or how you got started in 3D, and there's career migration. Maya users are generally not Max users but Max users to also be Maya users. It depends of what studios you've worked for or what hardware you owned. It is simply a matter that Autodesk owns both and got it like that. So you don't even have to take your pick. In general, Max was games and Maya was film but since Autodesk bought both, they are intertwined now. If you want to see a sample of the full workflow, here's Daryle Obert, for production specifications. (https://youtu.be/KevxDpO_0kU).
I still remember the day Autodesk called me for a paid interview where I helped them with naming " Entertainment Creation Suite". I added the word "Premium" to their title (no...Really I did). This collection is a similar packaging. However, this goes from concept drawing with SketchBook Pro, to capturing real world objects with a camera as 3D scan data with ReCap, to resculpt with Mudbox on down the line with animation in Max/Maya and to output for VR/AR or rendered images for film. This YouTube video is a sizzle reel for the workflow chart, Aquistion: (sketch or scan) to production (Maya, Max) with sculpting for both in Mudbox and finally render in Arnold or realtime render in AR/VR. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkBsnFUIgwc). Arnold is amazing. I don't do a lot of rendering but it's very evident to see why Maya integrated it instead of Mental Ray.
I am a Motion Capture or MoCap artist/performer with strong affiliation in a University Robotics Lab which uses a Vicon MoCap system. Maya handles motion-capture well but MotionBuilder is "King of Mocap". Not to break my arm patting myself on the back, but I sculpt 3D creature for National Fine Art Museums, from Taiwan to the Guggenhiem. As a shameless blurb as that may be, I said that to say "MotionBuilder is one of my most joyous production savvy experiences as an artist/animation. I sculpt the character, then put on a MoCap suite with glowing ping-pongs balls or trackable reflective markers and make the character move. One day, I'm a space alien, next day I'm a dancing pig. Yes, I'm a dancing pig! What have you done with your life? (LOL). To top if off, Autodesk also offers a repository of customizable characters. So now I don't have to sculpt each character. I can be a Ogre, zombie, policeman or fireman. MotionBuilder and Character Generator are a great match. When I started it would take months to make a character and it still does depending on the project. However, nowadays, with Character Generator, it can take less than 30 minutes. Autodesk has a library of characters that can be custom built with great pecision and detail. Yes, a character moving and grooving in moments not months.
As always, as an independent 3D content creator, I stress tutorials, online training, and video tutorials. There's ample resources available with PluralSight and Gnomon to name a few. These are the Glory Days of 3D Graphics. Dive In. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
YouiDraw Painter is an online Paint tool that provides dozens of customizable brushes and paper textures.
The first thing that makes this application remember is the well-known graphic drawing and editing tool such as PaintBrush of Windows, although with a more straightforward menu of options. It is an application based on the web, and you do not need to download an executable program. It's easy to use, and the same product website offers you online help. I was impressed that you can make drawings with an outline that includes seven options such as Plain, Sketchy, Shaded, Web, Trail, Ribbon, and Flur. I like the Sketchy option.
Additionally, the crop option permits me to cut a section of any image, modifies it, and then exports it. A gradient of colors creates diverse colorations on the canvas. The application works with Dropbox and Google Drive, and the free version only allows you to export the designs in jpg and png format. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
MyBrushes Paint for Mac app is the best Mac paint tool to paint on Mac infinite canvas and PLAYBACK whole drawing.
First of all I would have to say that I lovethat I can draw and create on an unlimited size canvas that is so fantastic! I can't tell you how many products are tried that this has been the limitations to my creation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are a range of tools I really like in draw plus. The best for myself is the pen tool. This allows you to create Bezier curves. You are able to change how you want the curves, straight, curved or automatic. This allows me to create cartoon style drawings with ease. The really useful thing about the pen tool is that you can join the shape up and it allows you to fill it in. The colour pallettes within this software have different categories. You can choose specific tones of a colour, a theme or a gradient style. Furthermore, you can add textures and styles to your fills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
