Vim is a lightweight editor but very extensible through plugins.

It still stands out within the numerous IDE/editors these days. Learn to use the necessary plugins, and you are good to go.

I like how efficient it is to use, once you've learnt the basics and more advanced features you will find that your writing code and using the shortcuts all become second nature. You gain a lot of efficiency from using all the shortcuts though, so they are well worth taking the time to learn. It is also by far the most customisable editor that I have used. You can literally change everything, my favourite thing to customise is setting up keymaps that can perform multiple key press with just one.
