What I like most about Excalidraw is its minimal interface and simple design. Picking up and getting simple to moderate level illustrations is quite easy. The learning curve is smooth and it packs all the essential features that one would need to create wow-worthy sketches.
Ever since I found out about it, I have incorporated it heavily in my workflow, in my blogposts, in my tweets, Pinterest posts and whatnot.
The best thing however is that about 90% of its functionality is free. There's nothing to download, not even that annoying signup prompt.
Creating illustrations is quite easy and with the latest features such as snapping, grid, Mermaid.js support, I don't think I'd need any other tool in near future.
For me, Excalidraw has been a revelation.
During my software development workflow I use it for:
> Collaborative drawing with peers
> UX Prototyping
> Whiteboard Ideas
It's simple and intuitive interface with the ability to sketch freely stands out. Also, the export options provided by the tool makes it easy to integrate with software project.
