Great way of learning the basics of a language

The short sessions that you can take in some lost time. Also that a session cannot fail. They used to work with hearts. After 3 mistakes you'd have to start over. They switched this to a system where you need 20 correct answers. Any wrong answers are deducted from this total. This puts a certain limit on the time to complete a lesson. Ideal for doing these during your morning commute.

Motivating Language Software

I like that the individual lessons are not too intimidating and they incentivize you to complete them by offering rewards. In addition, I like how each lesson builds on the previous one.

A great, free way to learn a language

Duolingo is intuitive to use, with a nice interface. It gradually teaches various levels of the language you want to learn, with the possibility of interacting with other people and being helped if in doubt about something. I find it the best free option to learn fast and practice both listening and writing
