Artificial intelligence (AI) has become the hottest topic in technology. Its use in the age of digital transformation spans the commercial and public sectors, fueling debate among businesses, lawmakers, and the public. I have been putting pen to paper on the subject for a few years now; having recently joined G2 to nurture the expansion of our AI categories (as well as our analytics, cloud, and security categories), I would like to sum up some of my views, while setting the scene for a more detailed exploration of the technologies, business challenges, and trends shaping AI. 

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are trending terms in the tech sphere that are often – and incorrectly – used interchangeably.

Instead of giving credence to fear-mongering books and films about artificially intelligent beings taking over the world and turning on humans (The Terminator, anyone?), it’s time we took a hard look at the proven benefits and potential risks of some real-world applications of artificial intelligence. 

With the progression of advanced machine learning inventions, strategies like supervised and unsupervised learning are floating more in the market.

Machine learning is taking almost every industry by storm.

Think of watching a movie or TV series on a streaming platform. When using streaming platforms, global users stream or locally store large multi-gigabyte (GB) media files simultaneously. Object streaming is what happens in the background when doing so. Each TV series or movie is stored either as a splitted object or a mounted range of objects. And the way they are stored is a classic example of object storage.

It takes on many names. Chatbots, interactive agents, virtual assistants, and conversational interfaces are just a few.

Nowadays, it’s rare for an organization to not provide a way for people within it to access their desktops virtually.
