1) You should be able to search for any job that contains a particular word or words, but you are only able to select pre-chosen words. For example: I was searching for "Community" jobs, which meant that there were countless titles I'd be interested in like "Community Manager", "Head of Community", "Community Lead", "Community Builder", "Community Engagement Manager", etc, etc. I would have saved so much time if I could have just searched for any job title that contained the word "Community", but that was unavailable.
2) When searching "Community", I was given a large number of irrelevant jobs that had nothing to do with Community. Meanwhile, I would have friends send me roles sometimes that were exactly what I was looking for, but never popped up in my search. This caused me to have to use two other search engines in addition to LinkedIn, just to ensure I didn't miss any relevant jobs.
2a) On that note, I would often see very relevant jobs in emails from LinkedIn that were never seen in search. While I appreciated that LinkedIn was sending interesting roles via email, it seems like if they are in emails, they should also be in search.
3) On three separate occassions over an 8 month period, when I would search for Community roles posted in the past 24 hours, I would go from getting hundreds of results to only a handful of results. That would have been fine with me if they had been high quality results, but they were mostly irrelevant. This only happened for "Community" searches and would last 1-2 weeks each time, before the normal results would start populating again.
4) I looked at the "Job picks for you" and the "Jobs where you're a top applicant" sections every day, but I wish those sections had filters available. They often would return 200-300 results, so it would have been very helpful to filter in things like "Remote" and "Posted in the last 24 hours".
4a) Also, these sections were often populated with spammy jobs where a company would just re-post the same remote role in dozens of major U.S. cities. There should be a way to hide all jobs from certain companies.
5) A filter that allows you to search for roles posted in the last 3 days would be appreciated. This is available on Indeed and is helpful for those who don't search for jobs on the weekend, but want to make sure that we didn't miss anything on Monday's that were posted on Saturday or Sunday. This oversight makes the tool nearly useless for applications that require a detailed and tailored resume. despite subscribing to LinkedIn's premium plan, the features provided do not justify the cost. The job suggestions are often irrelevant, recommending roles unrelated to my expertise in artificial intelligence. This misalignment occurs despite my profile and learning activities being clearly centered around this field.
The inclusion of a more sophisticated resume tool could potentially redeem these shortcomings. If LinkedIn could offer a feature that allows customization of the resume for different applications ncorporating selectable skills, courses, certificates, and publications it would make navigating the platform's other frustrations worthwhile. The thing I like most about LinkedIn jobs is that it allows kicking start and applying to different job openings with different roles and you can connect with different people either of the same or working in different organisations to build a network and to have a secure future.It has a very user friendly interface and very easy to make a profile in it, its like my go to app nowadays and it helped me to grab most of the internships.
