We have switched this year from Slack to Zulip and have been very happy so far! The greatest assets are
1) Zulip's integration with Github and other platforms.
2) Responsiveness to our bug reports.
3) Ability to make the channels web-public which makes our discussion platform much more accessible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The topic interface can be unintuitive, especially because stream notifications are also a topic users can comment on. This leads to users accidentally starting discussions in the notifications box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Easy transition from Slack. It just works and doesn't cost a bomb for a large team. Use it everyday. All team members onboarded easily and working with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not as fancy an interface as Slack but still quite fast and intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We used to use Discord for inter group communications in our Optimisation group at Monash University, but then it would be asking us every time to "upgrade" our services etc. We then discovered Zulip and have been very happy. It does everything we need, without annoying advertising, or upgrade "push". It works on all the devices we need, and is easy to install and use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It seems to need a Hard Reload quite often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The LaTeX integration is an indispensible feature. It is easy for us to communicate in technical mathematical language. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some users get confused at first about the difference between channels and their subordinate topics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The UI for the software may still need improvments, the default theme it is clear but hard to say very beautiful at current stage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
