Zscaler Internet Access solves the problem of securely accessing the internet without relying on a traditional VPN for everything. I don't have to constantly think about security because it's built into my everyday browsing experience. It has also helped reduce the number of risky websites and malicious downloads that could disrupt my work. The SSL inspection capability catches threats in encrypted traffic without noticeable latency — our page load times stayed consistent even after enabling full inspection. The centralized admin portal lets me apply granular URL filtering and bandwidth policies across all locations in a single policy push, saving roughly 2-3 hours per week compared to managing individual firewalls. An unexpected benefit: the real-time logging and dashboard gave our team visibility into shadow IT apps we didn't know employees were using, which helped us proactively address data leakage risks. Getting root certs pushed to unmanaged endpoints took way more workarounds than it should have and added about a week to our go live. Troubleshooting is another sore spot. When something breaks, the logs don't make it easy to figure out if it's a policy conflict, a PAC file issue, or a tunnel timeout. More often than not, I end up raising a support ticket just to isolate the problem. The admin console also gets noticeably slow when you're working with large rule sets or pulling reports older than 30 days. And pricing? Good luck figuring out your per user cost across ZIA, ZPA, and ZDX without going back and forth with the sales team. A self service calculator would go a long way. Before Zscaler, we were juggling multiple on prem appliances across locations just to enforce basic web security. Every time someone worked remotely, we had to backhaul their traffic through the VPN to the data center, which killed performance and frustrated users. ZIA basically removed that bottleneck. Now traffic goes directly to the internet through Zscaler's cloud, and policies still apply no matter where someone is sitting. That alone cut our VPN complaints by more than half. It also solved our visibility problem. We had no real way to see what SaaS apps people were using or how much bandwidth they were eating up. The real time dashboards gave us that picture without needing to deploy extra monitoring tools. We caught a few unsanctioned file sharing apps early on that could have been a data loss risk. The other big win is consistency. One policy set, applied everywhere, updated once. No more patching firewalls at each branch or worrying about config drift between sites.
