ZoneEdit was very helpful when needing a backup DNS server, but also when transitioning a domain from one host to another, and when setting up new domains without yet having any servers.
With ZoneEdit I could not only serve DNS records, which it did easily, of course, but I could also redirect web requests and email to specific websites or mailboxes. It easily allows, for instance, setting up a catchall email address for a domain when you don't even have a mail server yet for that domain, funnelling all the email to a specific mailbox (email address of your choice). I found the credit system a little confusing at first; ZoneEdit used to offer a certain number of free domains before charging a certain fee per year. Then it switched to a credit system, but I didn't fully grasp how this worked including re-claiming credits when cancelling domains. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
