I really just need Zoho to create expense reports for one person. It has all the necessary capabilities and creates a clean report. I can't really comment on much else. What I appreciate most is the automatic scanning of receipts, whether they are uploaded from a file or captured as a photo using your smartphone through the Zoho Expense app. The accuracy is outstanding and saves my users significant time, as they no longer need to stand by a scanner processing each receipt individually or manually inputting their expense claims into a spreadsheet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Zoho Expense? It would be helpful if there were an option to set a default expense type for each Vendor or Supplier. For instance, if the supplier is "Microsoft," the expense type could automatically fill in as IT Software. However, this is not a major issue for me. It's possible that this feature already exists and I simply haven't discovered it yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Zoho Expense solving and how is that benefiting you? Previously, our employees submitted their expenses using a manual Excel spreadsheet. This process was not only time-consuming—requiring them to scan each receipt and attach it individually to an email along with their completed Excel form—but it also resulted in frequent errors and data quality issues. As a result, our Finance team had to manually verify every receipt and make necessary corrections before processing payments. After implementing Zoho Expense—which I set up myself without any assistance from Zoho—the process became much more efficient. Employees can now prepare their expenses on the go, which has significantly improved data quality and saved a considerable amount of time for everyone involved in preparing, submitting, approving, accounting for, and paying employee expenses. Some of the key benefits we've experienced include a reduced risk of errors between receipt amounts and amounts claimed, thanks to the receipt and invoice auto-scan feature. We can also accurately capture Tax and VAT (including both UK and non-UK VAT/GST at various rates) on all expenditures. All receipts and invoices are now stored electronically with each claim, eliminating the need for scattered network folders or emails with attached PDFs. Additionally, our cash forecasting has improved, as we can view employee expenses as they are added, even before submission, which helps us anticipate month-end expense claims. We also use Zoho Analytics, and Zoho Expense seamlessly imports expense report data every hour. This allows us to generate management reports and dashboards. Furthermore, we've developed a report that creates a double-entry journal, which we can copy and paste directly into our accounting system for accurate and efficient expense recording. The biggest win with Zoho Expense is the receipt auto-scan. I just snap a photo on the mobile app, and it pulls the data perfectly—no more manual typing or losing paper scraps. It also plays really nicely with Zoho Books, so our accounting is basically on autopilot. What do you dislike about Zoho Expense? The biggest pain is definitely the clunky workflow approvals. If you have a weird corporate structure, setting up the hierarchy feels like solving a Rubiks cube. Also, the receipt scanning—while mostly great but it can be a bit of a slow sometimes. Sometimes it just hangs while processing. If you're using the free tier you hit a usage wall pretty fast which feels like they're forcing you to upgrade. The main thing it fixes is the nightmare of lost receipts and manual data entry we used to have everyone just shoving crumpled paper into their pockets and forgetting what they spent money on now they just snap a photo on the go and the software handles the rest it also stops the constant back and forth between employees and the finance team because the rules are built right in so people know what they can actually claim before they even submit it the real benefit is that our reimbursements happen way faster which keeps the team happy and our books stay clean without us having to spend hours every weekend matching transactions to bank statements Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
