Currently I don't use the web UI to look at past content often, and while I usually don't need to, if I did need to find something that was more than a week or two old, I would struggle to. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** Zight lets us easily record our screen and take screenshots we can quickly edit for both customer support and team communication. I like being able to quickly put an arrow or box on a screenshot to illustrate something, and then being able to paste the link in an email or chat since it is already in my clipboard. ### 2. It makes it easy to copy something and get a shareable link, which is very useful for quick access and sharing in chats. I like that there is a platform where team members can add notes or comments directly on the pictures, which is very good for design work. The setup was really easy, just install and it automatically saves files, which then back up to the cloud and can be accessed by anyone on the team. **What do you dislike about Zight?** Sometimes it's automatically log out from Windows, which I don't like. Also, on the mobile, we don't really use it much. There are many things to like about it. 1. It's robust and simple to use. Captures can be done seamlessly within other workflows and copy automatically to your clipboard as a user-tunable default of link, image, or download. This makes for quick and easy captures on the fly. 2. It has excellent security features. First, it was simple to set up storage on our company servers instead of the Zight cloud, meaning that all of our captures remain under our control. This allows for capturing more sensitive information securely. Second, it's possible to set security on ANY capture to password-protect or otherwise restrict access to it. 3. The editing features are excellent for both images and videos. 4. For teams in particular, the ability to group captures into collections and to manage sharing of those collections across multiple team members is a game-changer. We used this for customer support to build a visual knowledgebase of our systems very easily and intuitively. 5. Customization of the capture url for our domain was simple. 6. On the rare occasions where we've had issues, customer support was responsive, quick, and knowledgable. **What do you dislike about Zight?** The only issue I've found, which is shared by every screen capture program I've tried, is that if a dropdown is open on a page it sometimes will not see it in the capture. The helpful solution is to used a delayed screenshot, which lets your cursor remain on the window with the dropdown so it's visible. But it would be lovely to find a way to solve this. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** A picture speaks louder than words, especially in business. It's a necessity to be able to capture a screen showing the state of a software product, an interaction, or other visuals and easily share that with others, sometimes with annotations. Zight handles that beautifully, without placing undue load on my systems, and without slowing down my work processes. ### 7. This works wonders when someone forwards your email and the photos may have disappeared. From a desktop perspective - I love the fact I can just drag a file to the icon and it uploads it and copies the shareable link to my copy/paste. It makes sending files up to 1gb (even zipped folders up to 1gb) super easy. Aside from sending video instructions easily and quickly inside emails (without needing to send attachments) is sharing files between computers. I simply drag a file from one workstation into the CloudApp - seconds later it's uploaded and available to download on my other computer. Basically it's just faster than pluggin in a USB drive - saving me time at least a few times a week. **What do you dislike about Zight?** At the moment, and for the months I've been using it, they have zero love for Android users. There was a third party app that worked with CloudApp but they've since broken that connection and now my Samsung S7 Edge is basically useless when it comes to CloudApp. I would LOVE to be able to record videos using my phones cameras (front or back) to send quick and easy video emails - but they just haven't developed anything (literally zero apps) for Android. It's frustrating - but their desktop support (I use it on a Macbook Air and two Windows 10 workstations) I also want the ability to "copy content" like on a Mac - but on my Windows computers. It's useful for pasting directly into Facebook. **Recommendations to others considering Zight:** At first, I thought CloudApp seemed too good to be true but signed up anyways. For me the biggest issue isn't usually "just the features", rather, it's the fit and finish (or execution) on a daily basis using software. CloudApp nails it in every way except the Android support. My goal is always to delight my customer, CloudApp helps me in that way because I've had numerous business owners ask me directly how I create the emails like I do and they always are impressed with CloudApp. As of today March 5th, 2018, it has my solid recommendation. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** Saving time transferring files between computers. Sending animated instructions to clients as screen recordings (with audio as a video or just as a light GIF). Delights my clients (when I send them quick GIFS). On my Mac, it took a little time to figure out how to stop the recording, but once I did, everything else was simple. It's incredibly fast to finish recording and get a link to share. This makes it perfect for quick sharing and communication. I was searching for an alternative to Loom and found Zight to be the best option. I'm so impressed that I'm upgrading to the pro version today, even before my trial ends. The extra features are worth it, and I can't wait to use them. Overall, Zight is a great tool for anyone needing quick and easy screen recording and sharing. **What do you dislike about Zight?** The issue around finding the stop recording was a little bit annoying because it was a separate button up in my menu bar. I figure out how to use it, but I wish it was a little more user-friendly currently is. It might've been in a tutorial, but I jumped into this right away, cause I was excited to use it. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is saving me a ton of time helping my direct reports with questions they have about our products and services or how to use the software that is in our tech stack. Having the extension in Chrome makes it easily accessible. I like that it is easy to choose the type of recording and there's options to record with or without camera, sound, and to choose between full screen, window, or tab recordings. **What do you dislike about Zight?** Recent updates made changes that I honestly do not understand. First, when you go to screenshot, the tool changes your screen to such a dark gray that it is now harder to see where you want to click to start selecting the image you want to capture. Then, when you complete the screenshot you are forced to listen to an OBNOXIOUSLY loud click that I've not yet been able to figure out how to turn off. The very first time it happened it literally scared me and made me jump. Finally, once you've completed the screenshot and endured the unnessesary sound effects, you're taken to a screen where you no longer have the option to download the image. You need to go to "save", then download. I frequently download screenshots for use in slide decks, etc. This adds an additional step for about half the time I use Zight--a fitting end to befuddling set of updates. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** It takes high quality screenshots and videos. **Official Response from Saundra Krienke:** > Greetings! Chrome • The sound on Chrome unfortunately cannot be disabled at this time but we have notified our engineering and product team to add this. • Regarding your ‘Save’ concern, it sounds like you were taken to Zight on the web but not logged in automatically. In this case you would see the logged out view which only has a “save” option. If you log in to web, then it will show logged in where content is automatically saved. Rest assured that this is going to be fixed in our upcoming 8.1.0 release. Mac 8.0 • If you tried a full screen screenshot with multiple monitors, both screens are grayed out and as the user you would need to click and chose which screen to capture • The loud click sound we believe you are referring to is the sound the app makes after you capture content. We apologize the sound is too loud and recommend going into your Zight Preferences, General, and under When Item is Ready, uncheck the Play Sound. o There are other settings you can customize in that section ‘When Item is Ready’ that may be helpful such as determining what you want to happen after a capture (copy share link, copy content, etc.), show in browser, show in editor (this is a useful option if you frequently annotate/edit screenshots), and more. As an example, if you want to use custom URL branding (cname on your domain), the video preview (called unfurling) will NOT work in gmail. There have been four different times that I have had to correct support that these features do not work together. If you ever turn off custom URL branding, it will break ALL links you've ever created with it turned on. So, if your support team has been using CloudApp to send videos/captures to customers or including in training, all URLs will be broken. This could have been an easy fix for the team to fix with regex but the engineering "fix" was to have us manually change URLs, which is unworkable for us and still leaves the problem for other customers.". The company has made a solid change of direction as they've grown. I found it awkward to us with the set up of two screens I had and for some reason the countdown for when the screen recording would start did not appear, I don't know if this is a setting you can turn on or off. Sharing screenshots, video demos, and GIFs is so easy and fast, and our clients love being able to click a single link to view a video without having to create an account. I use GIFs in emails all the time, and it's a great way to showcase a solution quickly. Plus, the favorites feature is great, we often get repeat questions, and I can quickly provide the same image or video without digging through my folders for the correct item or re-do the demo every time. **What do you dislike about Zight?** Honestly, I don't have anything negative to say. I have been using CloudApp for a couple of years and was wanting a better solution for video recording, but they came through with a fantastic release enabling audio and camera in recordings, so I am a happy camper. **What problems is Zight solving and how is that benefiting you?** I often need to share screenshots of bugs with our engineering team, or steps to do something in our product with a customer. Many times I'll need to share the same item. CloudApp makes storing and sharing recordings, images, and GIFs so easy. There is a small learning curve for all that CloudApp is capable of.
