What do you like best about Zenmap?

My favorite thing about Zenmap is it's simplicity. It presents enough GUI controls to the nmap command line tool that makes it extremely easy to perform network exploration task without the need to memorize all the command line switches and options of nmap. Zenmap is also flexible enough to allow you to specify a custom command line for nmap beyond the typical use-case presets defined by the Zenmap developers.

Another great thing about Zenmap are it's report views that allow you to examine the network topology and details about each network host that has been detected in each exploration, if the type of exploration performed warrants it.

The ability to save and restore the results of the network explorations is also very welcome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Zenmap?

There isn't really anything I dislike about Zenmap. It is a tool with a single purpose and it fulfills it extremely well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Zenmap:

There isn't much needed to use Zenmap and it's command line tool nmap. If you have basic/intermediate knowledge about IP network administration then you have all you need to use Zenmap. Both Zenmap and nmap are free tools so you don't lose anything if they don't meet your requirements.

One thing to consider if you are going to use Zenmap in Windows networks: the latest versions of Zenmap and nmap (version 7 at the time of writing) don't work on versions of Windows prior to Windows 7. In this case you need to use a version of Zenmap with nmap version 6 or previous.

Unix users should have no problems using Zenmap, and it is available in the repositories of most major Linux and BSD distributions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Zenmap solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Zenmap mainly as a network exploration tool both in my regular place of work and also when doing consulting work. Zenmap has proven as an invaluable tool for initial exploration of computer networks, both when updating a network map and especially when mapping poorly documented networks. What do you like best about Zenmap?

Zenmap is a relatively simple tool to use; select your target and the scans you want to perform against it. I can scan for open ports and see which services are running on them. I can also check for malware using scripts from the NSE. Its vulnerability scanning is excellent in identifying vulnerable systems for patching. With Zenmap, you can scan for vulnerabilities, see where they are within your network or devices, and begin patching them. I like that I can scan different or specific systems without having to sit directly in front of them which to me is one of the best things anout Zenmap. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Zenmap?

The scan result can be a little difficult to read and understand. Also, it would be nice if Zenmap could download the updates or patches needed for the vulnerabilities found and install them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Zenmap:

Scan your network devices only. If you are using this professionally, ensure you have written permission to use the tool, clearly identify devices for scanning, and remember that ISP modems do not belong to the organization. Hence, don't scan them Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Zenmap solving and how is that benefiting you?

A benefit to having Zenmap is that you can use it to uncover vulnerabilities within the environment. If you can reach a certain port you can see which service is occupying it and take the necessary action if needed. There is also the benefit of using more advanced features in the NSE for malware scanning, you can also write your own scripts with this feature and share with others. What do you like best about Zenmap?

First of all, it's completely free because it is tough to find a free IP scanner for the m1 chip MacBook pro. That's why I love it. Also, it has many features, and results are coming clear and with different styles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Zenmap?

The GUI covers everything you need to analyse your entire local area network. It also helps visualize the topology and clearly shows all sophisticated and verbose findings for hosts and devices in the network. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Zenmap?

The GUI can get pretty non-responsive and the included NPCAP compatibility adapter can interrupt your internet supply due to conflicting metrics but that can be fixed manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Zenmap:

Networking monitoring tools can be vast and expensive and hard to set up. So, if you're looking for an on-the-go solution for your company's network, without spending unnecessary resources, Zenmap might be the best choice for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Zenmap solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am a local IT Network admin and need to often verify the visibility of networking devices and hosts running in our private network. Zenmap is one of the most inexpensive and simple GUI tool for NMAP to diagnose all the layered changes that my team makes to the network visually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Zenmap?

Zenmap is basically Nmap with a user interface, and that's what I really like about zenmap, because zenmap let us scan networks without having to enter most of commands, because zenmap will give us lists of commands that we can select from, with zenmap, we can see the network structure and connected computers in a network topology, which I found really helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Zenmap?

Its a GUI version of Nmap but, in Zenmap we still have to enter commands to do most of the scans, There is no option to change the font style of the output, or color of the fonts, we wont even get any option to change into dark mode. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Zenmap:

Zenmap is a really good tool for scanning networks, If you are familiar with Nmap then switching to Zenmap will be a really good experience for you, because we will be able to see the results in more convenient way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Zenmap solving and how is that benefiting you?

Scanning networks became more easier, and most importantly we can see the result in topology style, which I found really helpful , while I scan networks, its make me easy to understand the network structure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
