I like the product, the quality of the recordings, the online support, and the audio and video settings. I firmly believe that not many competitors on the market for this price can provide you with this value and quality recording. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Slow support response if you are in a different timezone,
- It is impossible to set up individual audio monitoring for the participants (the balance between speakers).
- I like the video recording quality, but the preview always looks barely understandable and pixelized despite how good your connection is.
- After each break in the recording, the web page is updated, and all of your colleagues must pass the green room again. Sometimes, this is a buggy moment.
- After using ZenCastr for 3 years, I still don't understand the difference between the Room and Episode sections. I think it can be easier and more understandable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Zencastr has all the features I need as a postmaster, and the interface is very user-friendly. The recordings have been of great quality and the local recording methodology has saved my arse a couple of times when the connection has been flaky and I'm interviewing guests.
That makes Zencastr my favourite podcast platform is the customer service. Staff are flexible, quick to respond and genuinely helpful.
They have improved their monetisation mechanisms recently, and I'm hoping to capitalise on this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish I could toggle the user dashboard from night to day. If there is a way, I haven't found it! Sometimes the black background isn't very user friendly during bright daylight.
Some of the options and menus are plugged away and hidden. The settings menu could be more comprehensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the layout and recording sound. I used the free service to begin with and tried other streaming platforms to record when I ran out of time on Zen, but nothing sounded as clean as Zencastr. I have now upgraded to a paid plan as I much prefer the sound. The back up files save me often when connection is lost. the sound quality is untouched even when the video link is dirupted, very helpful in podcasting. I dont use it for editing as I have softwear for that but the mp3 upload is not complicated and I am thrilled to see as a paid member I can now shedual uploads.
I recently needed help re a trailer issue and the team got back to me quickly via email in a friendly mannor and resolved my problem for me (even though it was my user error!)
I highly recomend Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish I could do the questons and pols listner feedback that Spotify supplies on the episodes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's an easy-to-use platform that works really well to record virtually. I rarely have issues with the recording process and I love that it records everyone on the call with individual audio clips, which makes editing so much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing, I recommend it to everyone I can! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have tried many tools for recording podcasts and can confidently say that Zencastr has the best recording ability. As veteran podcasters, we have recorded over 600 interviews and wish we had discovered this tool earlier. The sound quality is professional-grade, and it’s very user-friendly for guests. Recently, they released an IOS app, which has made the recording process seamless and hassle-free. We have been monetizing our podcast for years, and choosing Zencastr was a no-brainer due to its excellent features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Currently, you cannot add backdated episodes to your feed. However, the team is working on this feature we were told. We need this ability to release episodes in our free feed that we archived for subscribers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I enjoyed the free platform, ability to record remotely as well as record seperate audio channels Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The customer service was extremely unhelpful and the #1 reason I will not continue with Zencastr as a podcast platform. I was recording a series of podcast episodes over a couple of months and did not understand that all recordings needed to be downloaded within 31 days. Once I realized this I spoke to customer service and asked for a reprieve on this as it only was an issue with one 5 minute podcast episode. I was repeatedly told by Lynn Matugas the manager of Zencastr support that she couldnt help me unless I upgraded my account. Thata was one of the worst responses I've heard from customer service to resolving an issue that they can'y help unless I give them money. I gave them multiple warnings that I will leave Zencastr for a competitor and write this review if my problem is not resolved. Lynn Matugas' response was"...wish you the best of luck in your podcasting journey!". Why would I want to move forward with a company that has customer service that refuses to help? The ability to get individual tracks at a higher quality. Also, the fact that the audio and video are stored locally then uploaded means better quality and fewer issues if the stream initerupts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are times the program can be a bit buggy. Sometimes you're not seeing audio when it's recording, the guests being stuck in the "green room" not always getting a clear picture as to why someone doesn't pass checks. That all said, their support team is amazing and has helped me many times.
UPDATE - Since the latest update to the platform, it has become unstable. Clients who never had issues before are now having connectivity and recording issues. I've had to re-record numerous episodes since the update and have moved to a different solution. I was using Zencastr with my students as the free version was still very powerful even with audio-only recordings, which require the bare minimum, we're still having issues getting access to files once the recordings are done. Their tech services just offer blanketed "make sure you follow our specs" responses (which I have) and no real support. The original version of the platform was amazing, but I can no longer recommend this software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Zencastr's best feature is its "browser-only" recording studio. A simple link enables podcast hosts and guests to join and be recorded without any additional software, downloads or hardware -- although a good microphone is a plus for a better recording. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Unfortunately, with Zencastr's popularity, it has gotten away from the "Zen" part of its name -- cluttering the interface and adding new options with little explanation. What is a "room," "episode," or "show," and when should you use each one? They also provide poor guidance for the producer function. And lately, we have seen guests knocked off the platform mid-recording. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The thing I like best about Zencastr is the memories of when it used to be a reliable solution. In the past 6 months we've had to reschedule several interviews because their site was down or not working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Their "health check" system which frequently prevents me from recording when there aren't any actual technical issues on either end. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
