The UI makes Xprotect stand out as an easy-to-use product compared to other VMS tools available in the market. Not only UI but also other features like camera addition/deletion and modification is a very easy task for operator and VMS engineers. **What do you dislike about XProtect?** The reporting tool. Milestone should work more on the reporting tool to get the adhoc reports. **What problems is XProtect solving and how is that benefiting you?** Xprotect made the surveillance monitoring easy. Compared to other tools we used so far, we found no lagging issues with Milestone XProtect. camera driver issues are constantly addressed by milestone so that any new camera model can easily be allocated in to the VMS software. We have integrated the Veracity and awiros application along with milestone xprotect for command & control setup and video analytics. there was a smooth integration. ### 2. We use a centralized server so we are able to check the video surveillance remotely. Failure is not an option with Milestone. Customer support is always there for you and the basic installation is fairly simple. More lightweight options at entry level pricing woult make it easier to sell in and upgrade smaller customers. We have 50% Windows users and 50% Mac. We needed to find a solution that everyone can use and Milestone fit that bill for us. We are considering the integration with BriefCam to utilize smart features to save time and find more footage. **What do you dislike about XProtect?** There is room for improvement. We'd like a smoother easier to use interface. Coming from Lenel LNVR we feel that it worked a bit easier and smoother. **What problems is XProtect solving and how is that benefiting you?** We utilize Milestone to review video when something on our campus has happened for which we need video confirmation or evidence. The platform provides a robust video management system with extensive support for cameras and seamless integration with third-party tools. It enables easy provisioning and management of cameras while also incorporating a number of powerful tools such as being able to easily implement custom rules to tailor to our specific requirements. The user interface makes monitoring and retrieving footage efficient, even in large deployments. **What do you dislike about XProtect?** We've encountered some issues with the 'Add Hardware' feature of the Management Client, which has been documented by some other users online. We received prompt and personalised support from Milestone for this issue, and to their credit they were able to work with us for a workaround, however this issue has re-occurred so it does raise potential concerns about the long-term reliability of some features. Resource usage on the Smart Clients can also become very high, even on more powerful systems which meet or exceed the requirements recommended/outlined by Milestone, so optimizing camera settings/streams is crucial, especially more-so with larger deployments. **What problems is XProtect solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've previously used individual HIKvision NVRs, however this was not going to be suitable for a large scale deployment. Milestone XProtect is able to consolidate our NVRs, IoT devices, cameras etc. for simplified management, and it offers far more powerful (and plentiful) features that other industry alternatives. Even when XProtect correctly identifies the camera model you're trying to add, a mismatch in configuration (e.g., streaming settings) can still prevent a successful connection. Regarding resource usage on the Smart Client, this can also be a bit of a trade-off situation. For example, adaptive streaming can take some of the heat off the client side, but that means more demands on the server side. Support is outstanding as well, we have a Premium service account though which may sway support for our company I suspect. **What do you dislike about XProtect?** If your system has many cameras (150 or more) finding it is difficult thru the Servers-->Recording Servers--> Recording Server Name And using that Floating Filter above the Recording Server is painful as it is movable and after initializing will not return back to default unless reverting to "Reset Application Layout" then closing and reopening the Management Client. Also I used to use the Management Client "System Monitor" to view which cameras are using the most disk space... Now after viewing it I cannot double click "Used Space" and have it auto sort by the lowest or even the highest metrics. I have to export it to an Excel spreadsheet to do that. **What problems is XProtect solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are a manufacturer of disposable plates, cups, trays, lids, utensils... and have implemented certain automation where boxes of product flow to be shipped or stored. We have used Milestone to monitor these conveyors and the video has been instrumental in it's inplementation. Also we have setup robot's (AMR, Autonomous Mobile Robots) that can move huge pallets of product from Manufacturing to Warehouse, where we used to use personel forklifts to move. Milestone video (Live and Playback has been instrumental in trouble shooting when these robots go astray or fail to operate for whatever reason. Almost anything can be done with Rules if you take the time to figure it out. I worked as an integrator for years installing Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, Lenel video, etc, and as am end user now I still stick with Milestone for the forseeable future. I used Milestone every single day, full-time at work and running my home security system at home. Customer service is always available and eager to remote in and dive into whatever issue we may be having. Implementation is not too bad compared to some other camera or access control system, everything can be ran from one server if the system is small or the computer is robust enough. It's an open platform so is compatible with almost everything under the sun, integration into Lenel is not only supported but encourage. **What do you dislike about XProtect?** Downsides minor in my opinion, there are a few things I wish were available, such as a feature similar to "area access manager" in say Lenel that would allow a department to add user to their view groups but only their view groups. There are some features that would be easy to implement that I believe may be held out of updates because they are offered by a paid third party service (Boring Labs). There needs to be a way to easily run a report showing your cameras and how much storage they are consuming, features like that are heavily used as selling points for Boring Labs but realistically could just be included in Milestone. The view creation in Smart Client is fine, but customization is limited more than some competitors. Smart Wall is an option, but moving a major system from Avigilon to Milestone really highlighted the low variation in preset Milestone views compared to what was in place previously. **What problems is XProtect solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have thousands of cameras across dozens and dozens of buildings, without Milestone and the views that have been created within it, it would be total chaos for an officer or dispatch to try to find a camera. **Official Response from Nicole Barth:** > Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on your experience with Milestone XProtect.
