Everything you do is real-time, drawing shapes, editing gradients, applying effects and transparency - they all happen right in front of your eyes as you do it and usually directly on the artwork, no messing with dialogue boxes. Everything is crisply anti-aliased leading to a beautiful looking outcome. **What do you dislike about Xara Page & Layout Designer 11?** It lacks some of the more professional features of the likes of Illustrator and the typographical/text support is lacking in places. The interface is feeling dated in places having changed little since launch but as many of the tools are ‘direct action’ it isn’t as big a problem as it could be. he marking needs some work too, it’s an excellent tool but many of the example creations are hardly high-design, yes there are some good illustrations but a lot is cheesy which will put potential buyers and professionals in the industry off. **Recommendations to others considering Xara Page & Layout Designer 11:** If you want a fast and powerful package at a competitive price then give it a go. I think is the most usable and productive way of keep working on a document without jumping to others when a special need interrupted your workflow. **What do you dislike about Xara Page & Layout Designer 11?** Me being a professional encounter a lack of stability importing large photographic files and also exporting work for others. The best way to avoid this is both ends have the same software but that's not the case in the real world and for that reason is not a tool I will use most of the time. **What problems is Xara Page & Layout Designer 11 solving and how is that benefiting you?** This is an excellent tool to fix all problems about book publishing. You have total control to balance each page and keep all the content aligned. Think of it like a very old but great tool no longer with us called Page Maker. Xara manage to blend that powerful layout design from quarkxpress with Illustrator/Photoshop extra tools. ### 10.
